The poem moves from images of return and meeting toward separation and departure. Existing in-game dialogue connects Silverwing to the swallows, but the poem itself does not explain every image or confirm a new plot development.
What happens in “The Swallows Return” teaser?
Presented as Story Teaser: The Swallows Return, the video’s accompanying poem begins by asking where the swallows will return and where they will meet. It then evokes silver lamps before shifting to a speaker waking from dreams, a parted jade pin, dark birds flying away, and drifting clouds.

A secondary transcript reproduces the poem as: “Where shall they return? The swallows nest together. Whither shall they meet? The silver lamps glimmer. I wake from dreams. The jade pin parted, the dark birds flown, the clouds they drift on by.” Traveler.gg’s transcript attributes the teaser text to HoYoverse.
Who is Silverwing?
Archived in-game dialogue from Having Met You, My Heart is Gladdened provides a direct lore connection between Silverwing and the birds. Zhongli says: “Silverwing is an adeptus born from the spiritual energy of heaven and earth. The swallows soaring above were her living embodiments, as well as the very wellspring of her power.” The archived dialogue attributes this explanation to Zhongli.

- Genshin Impact "Ode to a Sweet Afternoon" Furina Chibi Figure
The same quest account places a perilous journey from Chenyu Vale to Guyun Stone Forest during the Archon War, when many swallows were bound to perish along the way. That context helps explain why swallows matter to Silverwing’s story; it does not, by itself, identify every bird or image in the teaser.
What do the poem’s images suggest?
The poem’s order supports a reading that changes from hoped-for return and reunion to separation and departure: the swallows nest together, then the speaker wakes to a parted jade pin and birds that have flown away. This is an interpretation of the imagery, not an explicit explanation of the jade pin or a complete account of the teaser’s plot.

The poem leaves its central questions open. It does not name the speaker, define the jade pin’s significance, or spell out what happens next. Silverwing’s connection to swallows is established in the archived game dialogue; a more specific explanation of the poem’s symbols is not established by these sources.
