The GEEKOM XT12 Pro pairs a 14-core, 20-thread Intel Core i9-12900H with a useful mix of USB4, HDMI, and 2.5GbE ports in a compact desktop. In CNX Software’s 2024 tests, the 32 GB RAM / 1 TB SSD sample delivered capable Windows performance and connected four displays, but its integrated graphics, power and thermal limits, and a Bluetooth driver problem in Ubuntu matter more than the i9 badge alone.

What configuration was reviewed?

CNX Software’s review sample had an Intel Core i9-12900H, 32 GB of dual-channel DDR4-3200 memory, and a 1 TB NVMe SSD. Its teardown identified two 16 GB Lexar SODIMMs, a Lexar NM7A1 NVMe drive, an empty M.2 2242 SATA slot, and a MediaTek MT7922 wireless module. These are details of that sample, not a guarantee that every market or production batch uses the same components. CNX Software’s April 2024 review and teardown documents the tested unit.

GEEKOM lists the i9-12900H, Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics, dual-channel DDR4-3200 SODIMM memory expandable up to 64 GB, and an M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 4 x4 NVMe slot supporting drives up to 2 TB. A second M.2 2242 SATA slot is listed for storage up to 1 TB. The official specifications are on GEEKOM’s UK XT12 Pro product page; check the configuration offered in your market before buying.

How fast is it in the 2024 Windows tests?

CNX Software tested the machine with Windows 11 Pro 23H2, build 22631.3447. The review reported a Cinebench R23 score of 7,466 multi-core and 1,769 single-core, alongside the following results. They are measurements from one sample under that review’s test conditions, not guaranteed scores for every XT12 Pro.

The processor has 14 cores and 20 threads, but a high core count does not ensure sustained desktop-class performance. GEEKOM lists a 45 W Processor Base Power; CNX Software reported power limits of 35 W PL1 and 80 W PL2 and observed performance affected by power or thermal throttling in some tests. The practical takeaway is a capable compact system for general productivity and demanding bursts, with sustained workloads subject to its compact cooling and power envelope.

Can it drive four monitors or play 4K and 8K video?

Ports include two USB4 Type-C connections with power delivery and DisplayPort Alt Mode, plus two HDMI 2.0 outputs. GEEKOM advertises support for four simultaneous 4K displays or one 8K display. CNX Software connected four displays across the two HDMI and two USB4 ports, but did not have a working 4K or 8K display available to verify those maximum resolutions directly. Treat the advertised maximums as manufacturer claims, not independently confirmed resolution tests. GEEKOM’s specifications list the display capability.

In the reviewer’s Windows playback tests, a 4K 60 fps sample had no dropped frames; an 8K 60 fps sample lasting a little over seven minutes dropped five frames. These results indicate strong playback in those specific tests, not a guarantee for every codec, file, or display setup. The XT12 Pro uses Iris Xe integrated graphics, so it should not be mistaken for a mini PC with discrete graphics. For modern games, GPU-heavy creative work, or other graphics-intensive tasks, expectations should be modest; the review did not establish broad gaming performance.

What ports and connectivity does it offer?

  • Two USB4 Type-C ports with power delivery and DisplayPort Alt Mode
  • Two HDMI 2.0 outputs
  • Three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports and one USB 2.0 Type-A port
  • 2.5GbE RJ45 Ethernet
  • Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth; the reviewed sample used a MediaTek MT7922 module
  • 3.5 mm headset jack, DC input, and Kensington lock slot

The combination makes the XT12 Pro adaptable as a desk-bound workstation, multi-display office PC, or compact media machine. Actual wireless hardware can differ by batch or market, so the tested module should not be assumed for every unit.

Does the XT12 Pro run Linux?

CNX Software tested Ubuntu 24.04 and found Wi-Fi and 2.5GbE Ethernet working on its sample. Bluetooth 5.2 did not work because of driver issues. Its 8K 60 fps playback test under Ubuntu dropped about 36% of frames, compared with five dropped frames in the Windows 8K test; the operating systems’ results are from the reviewer’s specific setup and should not be treated as a controlled comparison across all media or drivers. Under load, the reviewer observed CPU temperature settling around 90°C and fan noise becoming noticeable. See CNX Software’s Ubuntu 24.04 test for its version- and sample-specific findings.

How loud and hot does it get?

GEEKOM describes its cooling as IceBlast 1.0, using copper heat pipes and a large fan. CNX Software found the fan barely audible at light load, with more noticeable noise under heavy workloads; it also reported heat and some performance throttling in testing. That makes the XT12 Pro more attractive for ordinary desktop use and short demanding tasks than for workloads that pin the CPU for long periods in a quiet room.

Can you upgrade memory and storage?

GEEKOM specifies two-channel DDR4-3200 SODIMM memory up to 64 GB. The reviewed 32 GB sample used two 16 GB modules, so expansion may require replacing modules rather than adding a third stick. For storage, the stated configuration options are an M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 4 x4 NVMe slot up to 2 TB and an M.2 2242 SATA slot up to 1 TB; the review sample’s SATA slot was empty. Confirm the physical format, interface, capacity, and configuration of the unit you are purchasing before selecting an upgrade.

Who should consider it?

  • A good fit: buyers who want a compact Windows desktop with strong general CPU capability, USB4, 2.5GbE, and the option to connect several displays.
  • Consider another class of system: users who need discrete-GPU gaming or graphics performance, consistently quiet operation during sustained heavy loads, or dependable out-of-the-box Bluetooth on Ubuntu 24.04.
  • Verify before purchase: the exact RAM and SSD configuration, wireless module, current availability, and warranty terms for your country.

GEEKOM’s UK page states a three-year limited warranty from purchase, but warranty length and conditions are market-specific; confirm the current policy that applies to your location. The April 2024 review’s listing and buying information do not establish today’s price or stock.
