Gears of War: E-Day has 54 standard achievements worth Gamerscore, plus a separate 0G completion achievement that some trackers display as number 55. Completing the 54 listed achievements awards the Mythic Achievement described by The Coalition. The fastest reliable route is to track every campaign collectible and objective on your first playthrough, reserve a clean Insane run for the three achievements that require it, then finish Horde Siege classes and the long Versus and kill-count grinds.
How the E-Day achievement count works
Xbox Wire’s official presentation says that completing all 54 achievements earns a Mythic Achievement. The in-game or third-party lists may also show The Lucky Ones Died on E-Day, a 0G achievement awarded when every other achievement is earned. That is why completion sites can report 55 entries while the official announcement reports 54 achievements. Both figures describe the same completion target; the difference is whether the 0G award is counted as an entry.

The list mixes automatic story awards, campaign cleanup, Horde Siege milestones, Versus objectives, class progression and several one-off combat feats. Only three headline achievements explicitly require Insane difficulty, but Dead Serious combines an Insane campaign with endgame progression in the other modes.

Recommended completion order
- Finish Boot Camp and the campaign. During this run, record every Secondary Objective, Hard Case, collectible and Supply Cache item. Missing any of these creates avoidable replay work. Treat each chapter as complete only after checking the War Journal, not merely after reaching the next mission.
- Complete the story in co-op. You’re My Brother requires every Act in co-op on any difficulty. Online campaign co-op supports up to four players; console split-screen supports two. Have the same host and party finish every Act so progress tracking is less likely to split between saves.
- Start a dedicated Insane run. This is the practical way to earn Today We Are Canceling the Apocalypse and For Whom The Bell Tolls without mixing a first exploration run with the highest difficulty. Carry your checklist into this run and verify side missions and hidden items as you complete them.
- Build the four Horde Siege classes. Work on tool-specific achievements, revives, Energy, Invasion Events and Weapon Mods while leveling Assault, Breacher, Marksman and Medic. Allfather is the documented top tier and is recommended for max-level class progress, although most individual counters accept easier settings.
- Begin Versus early. The 25,000-kill requirement for HEY NOW, YOU’RE AN ALL STAR… is the largest single multiplayer grind and can be progressed alongside Dead Serious. Mode wins and combat feats are easier to obtain while you are already learning maps and weapons.
- Finish Re-Up and cumulative counters. Complete the final Re-Up, remaining Horde and Versus totals, then earn the 0G completion award and Mythic reward. Leave time for a patched replay if a tracker does not pop immediately.
This order separates exploration from difficulty and lets every repetitive activity overlap. A first campaign run can unlock story awards and most collectibles; the Insane run then concentrates on survival. Horde matches can simultaneously advance kills, Energy, revives, class levels and Weapon Mods, while normal Versus play contributes to Player Level and the 25,000-kill total.

All campaign achievements
Act achievements unlock naturally as the story advances. The other campaign awards are the ones most likely to require a checklist. “Any difficulty” means you can use the setting that best suits exploration, while the Insane awards require a complete run rather than isolated chapter replays.

| For Whom The Bell Tolls | Complete the Campaign on Insane, complete all side missions and find all hidden items. | 75G |
How to avoid campaign cleanup
- Keep one written or digital checklist for Secondary Objectives, Hard Cases, Collectibles and Supply Caches rather than relying on memory. Mark an item immediately after the pickup or objective completion animation.
- Use the first run to explore; the Insane run can then focus on combat and the required completion conditions. If you prefer one run, play on a forgiving setting first and reserve Insane for a second save.
- There are five campaign save slots, so keeping a dedicated exploration save and an Insane-run save is practical. Do not overwrite the save that still has an unverified collectible route.
- For Whom The Bell Tolls is stricter than the other Insane award because it also requires every side mission and hidden item. A story-only Insane clear will not satisfy it.
- Co-op players should confirm that everyone has joined before the Act begins and that the post-mission results screen records completion. The October 14, 2026 update improved co-op tracking, but checking the War Journal remains worthwhile.
Horde Siege achievements
Horde Siege uses three four-player squads, allowing up to 12 players in one session. At launch its documented difficulty tiers are Infantry, Commander and Allfather. The class tools map directly to the tool-focused achievements: Assault uses the Sonic Disruptor, Breacher the Adrenaline Injector, Marksman the Pulse Drone and Medic the Stim Vaporizer. Choose the class that matches the counter you are pursuing, then rotate roles so all four reach maximum level.

| Lift Outta Hell | Complete and survive 50 Horde Siege Missions on Infantry difficulty or higher. | 15G |
| Best I Can Do Is a Pizza Party | Complete any 100 Secondary Objectives in Horde Siege. | 15G |

| Spotted and Slotted | Pulse 1,000 enemies with the Pulse Drone in Horde Siege. | 15G |
| Form-Up! | Receive the maximum reward from a Perk Cache in Horde Siege, any difficulty. | 15G |
| Who Loves Ya, Baby? | Revive 20 players from other squads in Horde Siege. | 15G |
| Down, but Not Dead | Revive 250 squadmates from DBNO with the Stim Vaporizer in Horde Siege. | 15G |
| Stacks, On Stacks, On Stacks | Spend 150,000 Energy at the Supply Cache in Horde Siege, any difficulty. | 15G |
| Like a Boss | Successfully complete 25 Invasion Events in Horde Siege, any difficulty. | 15G |
| This Is My Rifle | Unlock all Weapon Mods in Horde Siege. | 15G |
| Crepe du Raven | Carefully inspect the underside of a Raven in Horde Siege. | 15G |
| I Didn’t Hear No Bell | Save your entire squad while you are moments from death in Horde Siege. | 15G |
| I WILL MASSACRE YOU | Kill 50,000 enemies in Horde Siege, any difficulty. | 25G |
| Siege Specialist | Reach max level with the Assault, Breacher, Marksman and Medic classes in Horde Siege. | 25G |
Horde planning that saves time
- Use the Sonic Disruptor to stun targets before executions for Turn It Up to 11; the Breacher’s Injector must maintain Adrenaline for 30 seconds for I’m All Amped Up; the Marksman’s Pulse Drone needs 1,000 enemy pulses for Spotted and Slotted; and the Medic’s Stim Vaporizer supplies the 250 DBNO revives for Down, but Not Dead.
- Allfather is needed for Never Fight Alone and is the recommended tier for max-level class progression; the other listed Horde requirements accept any difficulty or Infantry and higher as specified. Do not select a higher tier solely for a counter that already accepts Infantry if it jeopardizes extraction.
- Extract successfully when preserving Weapon Parts matters. A failed extraction can erase the practical value of a run even when kills and other counters advance. Keep the squad alive for the end sequence when attempting Never Fight Alone.
- Use mixed squads deliberately: Who Loves Ya, Baby? requires reviving players from other squads, while Down, but Not Dead counts squadmates revived with the Stim Vaporizer. Coordinate a downed-player callout rather than reviving instantly with another class.
- The 50,000 Horde-kill requirement is cumulative, so prioritize it during objective and class sessions rather than creating a separate kill-only routine too early. The 100 Secondary Objectives, 25 Invasion Events, 150,000 Energy spent and Weapon Mods will naturally take many missions.
- For Form-Up!, save enough Energy to claim the maximum Perk Cache reward instead of spending everything on weapons. For the detached-turret streak, clear nearby threats first and avoid switching weapons until all 10 kills register.
- Crepe du Raven is an inspection action, not a destruction challenge. Look for the interaction that exposes the aircraft’s underside. I Didn’t Hear No Bell is safest with a coordinated squad that can create a controlled last-second rescue rather than an accidental wipe.

How to handle the one-off feats
Several combat awards are easiest when deliberately set up in a normal Campaign or Horde session. Save a chainsaw execution for a Locust, look for a Ticker to launch and return, and watch for a Bilefrog encounter for the explosive-cornhole requirement. The Gut-Puncher feat needs two Grubs aligned with one round, while Payback’s A Pitch requires the Armored Wretch to stun you first and then be killed by you. A Boomer must be carved up for Okay, Boomer., and Brotector requires rescuing another player from a Locust struggle, so it cannot be completed entirely solo.
For mode-specific awards, play Demolition until a planted bomb survives the defuse window, win a scoreless Conquest match, and use the Battleship map for its workplace-safety interaction. These are objective conditions, not cumulative counters, so verify the result at the end-of-match screen before moving on.

What Dead Serious really requires
Dead Serious is not a single-mode award. Before it can unlock, your account must satisfy all four conditions: a 100% Insane Campaign, 25,000 Versus kills, maximum Player Level and four maxed Horde Siege classes. Plan those tracks together so that ordinary matches contribute to the Versus and level totals instead of being discarded after the campaign is finished. It is worth checking each component in its own menu because the 85G award may not appear until the final requirement is recorded.
Do you need Insane for every achievement?
No. The explicit Insane requirements are:
- Today We Are Canceling the Apocalypse: complete every Act on Insane.
- For Whom The Bell Tolls: complete the Campaign on Insane, all side missions and all hidden items.
- Dead Serious: includes 100% Campaign completion on Insane, in addition to its Versus, level and class requirements.
All other campaign achievements specify any difficulty or have no difficulty condition. Horde requirements generally accept any difficulty, except Lift Outta Hell (Infantry or higher) and Never Fight Alone (Allfather). Versus achievements do not require Insane. You can therefore complete collectibles and co-op on a comfortable setting, then reserve Insane for a focused, fully documented run.
If an achievement does not unlock
Update the game before replaying content. The Coalition’s October 14, 2026 patch fixed multiple War Journal and achievement-progress tracking problems, including co-op progress tracking. It also improves the display of missing collectibles so you can identify what must be collected again.
- Install the October 14 patch or any later update, then fully restart the game and allow your profile to synchronize.
- Check the War Journal and achievement tracker for the missing item or counter. Compare the displayed list with your own checklist rather than assuming the entire Act must be replayed.
- Replay the relevant mission, objective or mode and meet the requirement again. Missing collectibles are not automatically re-granted; they must be collected again.
- For missing campaign skins or titles, replay the completed mission from a new campaign. Those rewards also cannot be automatically restored.
- If a campaign achievement or associated reward still fails after the patched replay, contact Gears Support. The current known-issues notice says some campaign awards may still fail to grant.
Do not delete a save while troubleshooting. Keep the original run, note the exact chapter and condition, and take a screenshot of the tracker before replaying. This preserves evidence for support and prevents a second missed collectible from creating a longer cleanup.

Route comparison
| Route | Main risk | Co-operation | Difficulty or grind |
|---|---|---|---|
| First campaign run | Missing Secondary Objectives, Hard Cases, Collectibles or Supply Caches. | Solo is fine; use co-op if pursuing You’re My Brother. | Any difficulty. |
| Insane cleanup run | Failing a side mission or hidden-item requirement. | Not required, but co-op can help. | Insane; required for three headline achievements. |
| Horde Siege | Leaving before extraction, scattered class counters and Weapon Parts loss. | Three four-player squads; some awards involve other squads. | 50 missions, 50,000 kills, 150,000 Energy and four maxed classes. |
| Versus | The long 25,000-kill requirement and mode-specific wins. | Competitive multiplayer. | Player Level 100, final Re-Up and 25,000 kills. |
| Bug recovery | An award can remain missing even after the condition is met. | Co-op tracking was specifically patched, but verify it. | Replay content after updating; support may be necessary. |
Keeping separate campaign saves, logging every collectible and objective, and starting multiplayer progression early minimizes the three expensive forms of cleanup: a full Insane replay, thousands of multiplayer kills and a replay made necessary by a missed tracker. The route also avoids confusing the official 54-achievement target with the optional-looking 0G entry: earn every listed award, confirm The Lucky Ones Died on E-Day, and the Mythic completion reward should follow.

How many achievements does Gears of War: E-Day have?
The official Xbox Wire list describes 54 achievements and says completing them grants a Mythic Achievement. Many trackers display 55 because they include the 0G The Lucky Ones Died on E-Day completion award. Count either way, the practical goal is to earn every entry shown in your platform’s list.
Which E-Day achievements are missable?
The safest assumption is that campaign Secondary Objectives, Hard Cases, Collectibles and Supply Cache items are missable within a run. Track them as you play. Side missions and hidden items are especially important for For Whom The Bell Tolls; a normal Act clear does not prove that every one was completed.
Do I need Insane difficulty for everything?
No. Only Today We Are Canceling the Apocalypse, For Whom The Bell Tolls and the campaign portion of Dead Serious explicitly require Insane. Most campaign cleanup and Horde achievements accept any difficulty, with the stated Infantry-or-higher and Allfather exceptions.

Can I earn You’re My Brother in split-screen?
Yes. The requirement is all Acts in co-op on any difficulty. Online campaign co-op supports up to four players, while console split-screen supports two. Keep the party together for every Act and verify the completion record.
What is the hardest or longest achievement?
Dead Serious combines four demanding tracks: 100% Insane Campaign completion, 25,000 Versus kills, maximum Player Level and four maxed Horde Siege classes. The 25,000 Versus kills and 50,000 Horde kills are the largest cumulative grinds, so start them early rather than waiting for campaign completion.
What should I do when a collectible or achievement is missing?
Patch the game, restart, inspect the War Journal, and replay the specific mission or activity. The October 14, 2026 update identifies missing collectibles, but does not automatically re-grant them. Missing skins and titles likewise require replaying the completed mission from a new campaign. Contact Gears Support if a patched replay still fails.
Does Horde difficulty affect every Horde achievement?
No. Most listed Horde requirements allow any difficulty. Lift Outta Hell requires Infantry or higher, while Never Fight Alone specifically requires an Allfather extraction with every squadmate alive. Allfather is also the recommended tier for max-level class progression.
