Yes. For a player-run market or player-driven economy, the key difference is how trading works: Albion Online ties player crafting to local marketplaces and hauling; EVE Online uses brokered buy and sell orders; and RuneScape offers a central exchange alongside direct player trading for Bonds. Choose based on whether you enjoy moving goods, managing orders, or using an exchange.
What makes a player-driven shopping and trading system feel expansive?
“Player-driven economy” can describe several distinct systems. A game may let players produce much of what is sold, require goods to be moved between local markets, let traders post orders, or offer a central exchange. Those features shape the experience more than the generic label “auction house.”

- Player production: How much of the available trade is connected to items players make?
- Market structure: Do you buy and sell through local listings, brokered orders, or an exchange?
- Trade effort: Does participation involve crafting, moving goods, or managing prices and orders?
- Rules: Which items can be traded, and what do the game’s current policies allow?
Albion Online: crafting, local markets, and hauling
Albion Online describes its economy as player-driven: nearly every item is player-crafted, and players buy and sell through marketplaces around the world. The official site’s feature heading is “Trade your goods at local marketplaces” (Albion Online economy).

Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Markets are local rather than one universal shop, so location is part of the trading loop. Albion also describes transporting goods across the world and warns that a full carriage is slow and vulnerable to thieves (Albion Online world). This makes the game a natural fit if you want trading to connect with production and the risks of moving stock, rather than stopping at a marketplace interface.

EVE Online: brokered buy and sell orders
EVE Online’s support documentation describes buy and sell orders handled through brokers, including orders intended to be fulfilled immediately (EVE Online market orders). The structure suits players who want to set or respond to prices and engage with order management as part of play.
EVE also has a specific distinction around PLEX and real-money trading. Its support page says players may buy PLEX from the EVE website and sell it on the in-game market. The same page defines selling in-game items for real money as real-money trading (RMT); an allowed PLEX route does not mean third-party cash sales are permitted. Check the current official rules for the applicable details (EVE Online real-money trading rules).

RuneScape: the Grand Exchange plus direct trades
RuneScape combines an exchange-mediated route with direct player trading, at least for Bonds: Jagex says Bonds can be traded directly player-to-player or through the Grand Exchange (RuneScape Bonds). That makes it a useful example if you want a central exchange option as well as a direct-trade route.
The cited information establishes those two routes for Bonds specifically. It does not, by itself, describe how every item can be traded or establish that identical rules apply across both RuneScape versions. Verify the relevant game’s current item restrictions and trading rules before relying on a particular route.

Which game should you try?
| Game | Market shape | Best fit if you enjoy |
|---|---|---|
| Albion Online | Player-crafted goods sold through local marketplaces, with world transport between locations. | Crafting, comparing local markets, and hauling goods despite the risks. |
| EVE Online | Brokered buy and sell orders, including orders intended for immediate fulfilment. | Setting or responding to prices and managing orders. |
| RuneScape | Grand Exchange and direct player trades are documented for Bonds. | Having both an exchange and a direct-trade option for that item. |
These are different models, not a ranking. The available official information does not provide comparable trading-volume, market-fee, or restriction data across all three games, so it does not support calling one the largest or best economy. If those details matter to you, check the current in-game rules and market interface for the specific title and item.
