Neither is a Fable clone: their official descriptions do not promise the same British wit or reputation-driven village life.
The US PlayStation Store currently lists the new Fable for PS5 with a release date of February 23, 2027. That is more specific than the Autumn 2026 window announced earlier by Playground Games, so check the Store listing again nearer launch.

What makes a game feel like Fable?
Fable’s appeal is a combination rather than one feature: a fantasy world to explore, action that mixes melee, ranged, and magical combat, choices that shape the journey, and a playful tone. Its official PlayStation description also highlights relationships with villagers, reputation, and optional activities such as buying a cottage or running a shop.
Playground Games’ January 2026 announcement described the new game as a fresh beginning, with dry British wit, “playful moral chaos,” and townsfolk whose opinions can evolve in response to what the player does. That makes the most useful comparison question not “Which game is exactly like Fable?” but “Which part of Fable do you want more of?”

Hogwarts Legacy: pick it for magical exploration
Hogwarts Legacy is the closer fit if the image you have in mind is wandering through a colorful fantasy setting, discovering places, and using magic in an action RPG. PlayStation’s description names Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, the Forbidden Forest, and the surrounding area, alongside spell learning, potions, character customization, and magical creatures. It says the player ultimately decides the fate of the wizarding world.
The PS5 edition was released on February 10, 2023. PlayStation lists it as single-player and says offline play is enabled. Price and subscription or catalog access can change, so check the current PlayStation Store listing before deciding how to get it.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard: pick it for companions and decisions
If your favorite Fable moments involve relationships and choices rather than roaming a magical school, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the stronger match. PlayStation describes seven companions with individual stories; players can befriend and romance them, select who joins battles, and make choices that affect their development and the fate of Thedas.
