Samsung lists a 7.6-inch main display and a 5.5-inch cover display for the Galaxy Z Fold8. The cover’s 10:16 aspect ratio suits quick replies and short-form viewing, while the main display’s 4:3 proportions give more room for browsing, notes, email, documents, and video calls. Samsung UK’s smartphone specialist describes the cover as useful for quick responses and the main display as an expanded space for browsing and streaming (Samsung UK; Samsung Mobile Press).

How to use Multi Window on Galaxy Z Fold8
Multi Window lets you use multiple apps at once. - Unfold the phone and open the app you want to use first.
- Add a second app using the phone’s Multi Window controls, then choose an app that complements the first rather than one that simply adds another distraction.
- Adjust the divider so the app you are actively reading or editing has enough space. If one window becomes difficult to read, return to a two-app layout or switch apps as needed.
Available layouts and controls can depend on the software version and the apps involved. Not every app supports every arrangement, so use the layout that remains readable and functional for the specific task.

When a three-app layout helps
A third app can be useful if it provides information you need without making the other windows cramped. Android Central describes creating two- and three-app layouts by dragging apps from the taskbar and adjusting the dividers. Treat that as secondary-source guidance: taskbar labels, gestures, and availability may vary by software version (Android Central).
- Try three apps when each window has a distinct role, such as reference material, notes, and a message thread.
- Keep two apps when reading, editing, or typing in small windows becomes awkward.
- If the task requires moving material among apps, prioritize a layout where the source and destination are easy to see and use.
Save frequently used app pairs to the Edge Panel
If you repeatedly use the same combination, save the Multi Window pair to the Edge Panel. Samsung Business Insights says saved pairs can be launched from the panel, reducing the need to rebuild a familiar layout each time. The same source describes dragging content between emails, documents, and presentations as a productivity workflow (Samsung Business Insights).

- Build the two-app layout you want to reuse.
- Use the Multi Window or Edge Panel option presented on your software version to save the app pair.
- Open the Edge Panel when you want that combination again and launch the saved pair.
Exact menu wording can change between software versions. If you do not see a save option, check the Multi Window controls and Edge Panel settings available on your installed version.

For a desktop-style workflow, Samsung describes using DeX with an external display. A Bluetooth keyboard and mouse can be paired, or the phone can connect to a display through an HDMI-to-USB-C cable. These are optional choices for the external-display workflow, not prerequisites for using Multi Window on the phone itself. Samsung does not identify specific accessory models in this guidance, so confirm the connection and compatibility for the display and accessories you plan to use (Samsung Business Insights).

Do not use Flex Mode instructions for the Fold8
Samsung US Support explicitly says Flex Mode is not supported on the Galaxy Z Fold8. That model-specific support statement takes precedence over Samsung editorial pages that suggest Fold8 Flex Mode use, including claims about hands-free viewing or video calls. Do not partially fold the phone expecting a Flex Mode setup; ordinary Multi Window is a separate way to keep apps visible together (Samsung US Support; Samsung Newsroom Indonesia; Samsung Business Insights).
