For a later U.S. price update, Tom’s Guide reported on October 1, 2026, that S26 Ultra list prices were $1,399 for 256GB, $1,599 for 512GB and $1,999 for 1TB. That is secondary reporting, not the March Samsung price sheet. Check a live Samsung, retailer or carrier listing before buying; the available evidence does not establish a current S25 Edge street price or a live matched offer. See Tom’s Guide’s October 1 report.
Which phone is thinner and lighter?
The S25 Edge is the clear choice if reducing thickness and weight is the priority: Samsung lists it at 5.8mm and 163g, compared with the Ultra at 7.9mm and 214g. Both have high-resolution, up-to-120Hz displays, but the Ultra offers the larger screen. The published measurements establish a size difference, not how comfortable either phone feels in a particular hand or pocket.

Which has the better camera zoom?
The S26 Ultra offers more dedicated camera and zoom options. Its rear system includes two telephoto cameras: a 10MP module with 3x optical zoom and a 50MP module with 5x optical zoom and 10x optical-quality zoom. Samsung’s wording matters: 10x is optical-quality, not optical zoom.
The Tool Desk

Its simpler two-camera setup has less dedicated reach than the Ultra’s. These specifications show greater lens and zoom flexibility on the Ultra, but do not establish that it takes better photos in every situation. No independent head-to-head image test is established here.

How do battery and charging compare?
Samsung lists a typical 3,900mAh battery for the Edge and a typical 5,000mAh battery for the Ultra; the Ultra’s rated minimum is 4,855mAh. Battery capacity alone cannot determine day-to-day endurance or screen-on time. Samsung notes that real-world results vary with factors such as network conditions, usage, apps and calls.
Samsung’s controlled-condition claims are up to 55% charge in around 30 minutes for the Edge using a 25W adapter, and up to 75% in around 30 minutes for the Ultra using a 60W adapter. The charging adapters are sold separately. These figures are not a direct comparison under one shared charger setup.

What changes with performance, software and privacy?
The Edge launched with the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, Android 15 and One UI 7. The Ultra launched with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, Android 16 and One UI 8.5. The Ultra also adds Samsung’s built-in Privacy Display, a feature not listed for the Edge in the cited specifications.
Samsung claims the S26 Ultra has up to 19% higher CPU performance, 39% better NPU performance and a 24% GPU boost versus the previous Ultra generation. Those are Samsung’s generational comparisons, not direct S26 Ultra-versus-S25 Edge benchmark results; they should not be treated as a measured percentage advantage over the Edge.
Best Value
- 6.8" Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate, up to ~1750 nits brightness, HDR10+ support, and ultra-smooth responsiveness for gaming and scrolling.
Which one should you buy?
Choose the Galaxy S25 Edge if
- A slim, light design is more important to you than a large battery or long-range zoom.
- You are comfortable with a 200MP main camera and one ultrawide rather than two dedicated telephoto cameras.
- The matching storage option costs less in the current offer you can actually buy.
Choose the Galaxy S26 Ultra if
- You want dedicated 3x and 5x telephoto cameras and 10x optical-quality zoom.
- You value its larger listed battery, 1TB storage option, newer launch software or built-in Privacy Display.
- You are willing to accept a thicker, heavier phone and the higher price shown for comparable storage.
Before deciding, compare the same storage tier and purchase channel, then use the final price after applicable trade-ins, carrier terms and promotions rather than assuming an older MSRP is today’s checkout price.
