Samsung’s Germany comparison also lists higher battery capacity and longer total playback for the Buds4 Pro, although official figures differ by region. A Buds3 Pro owner should upgrade only if those changes address a real need and work with their phone; fit, local pricing, and feature compatibility matter more than the small weight difference.
What changed between Galaxy Buds4 Pro and Buds3 Pro?
Samsung Electronics dates the Buds3 Pro launch to July 2024 and the Buds4 Pro launch to March 2026 in its 2026 Q1 Interim Report. Samsung Germany’s comparison lists the following specifications for the two models:

| Specification | Galaxy Buds4 Pro (SM-R640) | Galaxy Buds3 Pro (SM-R630) |
|---|---|---|
| Earbud weight | 5.1 g each | 5.4 g each |
| Case weight | 44.3 g | 46.5 g |
| Bluetooth | 6.1 | 5.4 |
| Codecs listed | AAC, SBC, SSC, SSC-UHQ | AAC, SBC, SSC, SSC-UHQ |
| IP rating | IP57 | IP57 |
| Minimum Android version listed | Android 12.0+, with at least 1.5 GB RAM | Android 10.0+, with at least 1.5 GB RAM |
These are Samsung-published specifications, not independent performance tests. The codec list is unchanged; Samsung describes SSC-UHQ as supporting 24-bit/96 kHz on Galaxy smartphones, but whether that capability is available depends on the connected device and software environment. Samsung Germany’s comparison also notes that Galaxy-device settings integrate directly on One UI 8.0 or later; older One UI versions use the Galaxy Wearable app.

Samsung describes the Buds4 Pro as slimmer, with metal accents and a horizontal-opening transparent case. Its listed dimensions differ substantially: Buds4 Pro earbuds measure 30.9 × 18.1 × 19.6 mm and their case 51 × 51 × 28.3 mm; Buds3 Pro earbuds measure 19.8 × 18.1 × 33.2 mm and their case 48.7 × 58.9 × 24.4 mm. Both are closed in-ear designs and come with silicone tips in three sizes.

- OPTIMIZED COMFORT: Enjoy that just-right fit, with an improved, ear-hugging design and changeable ear tips.
The Buds4 Pro weigh 0.3 g less per earbud, but neither weight nor dimensions establish that they will fit an individual ear better. If comfort is the reason for replacing Buds3 Pro, try the new shape when possible rather than treating a lighter specification as a guarantee.
Samsung Germany lists Buds4 Pro in black and white, with pink gold exclusive to its German online shop; Buds3 Pro are listed in silver and white. Colors and availability vary by market. The Germany page lists a USB-C cable in the Buds3 Pro box but not in the Buds4 Pro box, so check the local package description before buying.

How much better is Buds4 Pro battery life?
Samsung Germany lists Buds4 Pro battery capacities of 61 mAh per earbud and 530 mAh for the case, compared with 53 mAh and 515 mAh for Buds3 Pro. Its playback estimates are:
| Samsung Germany estimate | Buds4 Pro | Buds3 Pro |
|---|---|---|
| ANC on, per charge / including case | Up to 6 / 26 hours | Up to 6 / 20 hours |
| ANC off, per charge / including case | Up to 7 / 30 hours | Up to 7 / 23 hours |
| Earbud charging time | Up to 55 minutes | Up to 71 minutes |
| Case charging time | Up to 83 minutes | Up to 87 minutes |
These are Samsung’s stated figures, not a real-world battery test; actual playback varies with volume, connectivity, and use. The regional qualification matters: Samsung Colombia’s comparison lists both generations at up to 6/26 hours with ANC on and 7/30 hours with ANC off. The reason for the difference between Samsung’s regional pages is not stated, so use the figures for the market where you plan to buy rather than combining them into one universal estimate.

Those are manufacturer specifications and claims, not proof from an independent side-by-side listening or noise-cancellation test. Samsung lists active noise cancellation, adaptive EQ, adaptive noise control, 360-degree audio, voice and siren detection, and super-wideband speech for both models, so the feature list alone does not establish that every listener will hear a meaningful improvement.

Is upgrading from Buds3 Pro worth it?
Consider Buds4 Pro if you want a specific change
- You want the redesigned case and earbud shape, and have confirmed the fit suits you.
- Your local Samsung listing gives you the battery improvement you need; the Germany and Colombia runtime figures differ.
- You will use head gestures, newer Bluetooth, or Samsung’s advertised ANC and audio refinements, and your device supports the relevant functions.
Keep Buds3 Pro if they already meet your needs
- Your current fit, sound, ANC, and battery life are satisfactory.
- The new features do not solve a particular problem for you.
- You rely on a feature that remains available on Buds3 Pro; Samsung lists both generations with IP57, two-way speakers, several adaptive features, and the same four codecs.

Samsung US lists Buds4 Pro from $249.99; that is a US starting price shown on Samsung’s product page, not a universal price or a comparison with a current Buds3 Pro offer. The available price information does not establish today’s Buds3 Pro price or a reliable upgrade premium.
