The Galaxy A35 5G and Galaxy M17 5G launched in India in different years and at different memory configurations, so their launch prices are historical context—not a reliable current price gap. Samsung announced the A35 in March 2024 and the M17 in October 2025. Check the exact RAM/storage variant, seller and checkout offer before comparing what they cost today.
On specifications, the A35 suits buyers who value a 120Hz display, higher-resolution secondary rear cameras, IP67 protection and microSD expansion. The later M17 has a slightly larger screen, launched with newer software and has Samsung’s longer stated update plan.

Display: A35 is faster; M17 is slightly larger
| Specification | Galaxy A35 5G | Galaxy M17 5G |
|---|---|---|
| Panel | 6.6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED | 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED |
| Maximum refresh rate | 120Hz | 90Hz |
The M17 offers a 0.1-inch larger stated diagonal, while the A35 supports the higher refresh rate. That makes the A35 the specification-led pick for buyers prioritizing smoother scrolling and supported animations; the M17 is marginally larger on paper. These specifications alone do not establish which screen looks better in everyday use.

Rear cameras: higher-resolution secondary cameras on A35
| Rear camera | Galaxy A35 5G | Galaxy M17 5G |
|---|---|---|
| Main | 50MP with OIS | 50MP with OIS |
| Ultrawide | 8MP | 5MP |
| Macro | 5MP | 2MP |
| Front | 13MP | 13MP |
Both phones specify a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), and both list a 13MP front camera. The A35’s ultrawide and macro sensors have higher stated resolutions than the M17’s. Megapixel counts do not prove better image quality, and there is no established controlled head-to-head camera test here to settle which produces better photos.
Processor and software at launch
| Galaxy A35 5G | Galaxy M17 5G | |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | Exynos 1380 | Exynos 1330 |
| Software at launch | Android 14 with One UI 6.1 | Android 15 with One UI 7 |
Samsung’s launch specifications place the A35 on the higher-numbered Exynos tier, while the M17 launched later with a newer Android and One UI version. Chip names do not provide a controlled speed comparison; no quantified head-to-head performance result is established. Launch software also does not by itself identify the version a phone currently runs after updates.

Samsung’s M17 specification page notes that its update information describes current plans and is not a commitment, and rollout timing can change. The stated plans are not a guarantee that updates arrive simultaneously in every market or for every device.

Water and dust protection: higher rating on A35
The A35 is rated IP67. Samsung describes this as protection against dust and submersion in up to 1 meter of fresh water for up to 30 minutes, under the stated test conditions. The M17 is rated IP54 for dust and splash resistance; Samsung advises against beach or pool use. Neither rating should be read as a promise of damage-proofing in all conditions.
Battery, charging and storage expansion
Samsung lists a typical 5000mAh battery and 25W charging for each phone. Matching capacity and charging wattage do not establish equal real-world battery life; no controlled head-to-head endurance result is available here. Samsung says the 25W wall charger is sold separately.

Quick Recap
Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the Galaxy A35 5G if a 120Hz refresh rate, higher-resolution ultrawide and macro camera specifications, IP67 rating or supported microSD expansion matters most.
- Choose the Galaxy M17 5G if you prefer its slightly larger display, its newer launch software, or Samsung’s longer stated OS-upgrade and security-update plan.
- Compare current checkout prices before deciding because the historical launch prices involve different years, configurations and offer conditions.
