At launch, the M36 was positioned at a lower price than the A26’s launch starting price. But launch offers from 2025 cannot show the current difference, and the current M36 transaction price and stock are not established here. For a fair decision, compare the same RAM and storage level at checkout, including bank discounts, seller, warranty, and return terms. Samsung’s A26 purchase page is volatile and may show different prices or availability over time.

Where the phones are similar—and what that does not prove
Display, cameras, and battery
Samsung lists the same headline display format, rear-camera resolutions, front-camera resolution, and typical battery capacity for both phones. That makes the specification sheet look close, but megapixel counts and panel labels do not establish identical photo quality, brightness, colour tuning, or everyday battery life.
Samsung lists up to 17 hours of video playback for each model. This is a manufacturer estimate, not a comparative battery test; actual results depend on use and network conditions. The 5,000mAh figure is typical capacity rather than a promise of a fixed runtime.

Performance
Samsung’s India launch announcements identify the Exynos 1380 in both phones. The shared chipset name is not evidence that either model is faster in real use: performance can also depend on software, cooling, and configuration. No independent head-to-head benchmark is established here, so choose between them on confirmed features and current price rather than assuming a speed winner.
A26’s documented advantage: water and dust protection
Samsung rates the A26 IP67 and says Gorilla Glass Victus+ protects the front and rear. Samsung explains that IP67 refers to laboratory immersion in up to 1 metre of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. Resistance may diminish with wear, and Samsung does not advise beach or pool use. It is a protection rating, not a guarantee against damage in every spill or accident. Samsung’s reviewed M36 India materials name Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection but do not establish an IP rating. That is not enough to claim the M36 is water-resistant—or to conclude that no rating exists for every regional variant. If water and dust protection matters, verify the exact local model’s official rating before buying; based on the cited India information, the A26 has the clearly documented advantage.
Software support and charging costs
Samsung advertises six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates for each phone. Availability and rollout timing can vary by market; Samsung describes the M36 information as its current plan. Check the support terms and update status for the specific region and unit you are considering.

The M36’s 25W fast charger is sold separately, according to Samsung. The A26 purchase page lists a phone, data cable, and ejection pin in the box and says the travel adapter is not included. If you need an adapter, check local box contents and include a compatible USB-C charger in the total cost.

Choose the Galaxy A26 5G if protection is a priority
- You want Samsung’s documented IP67 rating and front-and-rear Gorilla Glass Victus+ coverage.
- You prefer to make the decision using confirmed protection information rather than an unverified assumption about the M36’s water resistance.
- The A26’s current price for your preferred configuration is acceptable after checking the live listing.
Consider the Galaxy M36 5G if its live price is better
- You find it at a lower current price than the A26 for the same RAM and storage.
- You want the listed 8GB/256GB option, after confirming that configuration is actually available from a seller you trust.
- You have checked local warranty, return terms, included accessories, and the exact model’s specifications.
If your deciding factor is speed or camera quality
