What “free Xbox Game Pass on Quest” means
Xbox’s July 21, 2026 announcement says eligible Meta Horizon+ subscribers receive a starter edition of Xbox Game Pass where available. The announced starter benefit includes 50+ games, 10 hours of cloud gaming each month, and Rewards for playing. The announcement does not establish a complete list of eligible countries, so confirm availability and the current offer in your account or official service information rather than assuming it is offered in your region.
Which Quest headsets are supported?
Xbox’s VR support page names Meta Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3, and Quest 3S. Support for the headset does not by itself guarantee that the starter benefit or cloud gaming is available in your region, or that every game can be streamed. Check Xbox’s VR cloud-gaming information.

What you need before setup
- A supported Quest headset and access to Xbox Cloud Gaming in your region.
- An Xbox account with the required active subscription or an eligible Horizon+ starter benefit.
- A game that supports cloud play and is available to your account. Xbox says select free-to-play games and most Game Pass titles can be played from the cloud; the catalog and availability vary by plan, platform, region, and time. Check Xbox Cloud Gaming details.
- A compatible controller connected by Bluetooth or USB. Some games support touch controls, but support is game-specific.
- A reliable internet connection. Xbox’s Cloud Gaming FAQ gives 10 Mbps as the minimum download speed and says some devices may need 20 Mbps for best quality. Xbox’s 2025 setup guidance recommends at least 20 Mbps for a stable experience and favors 5 GHz Wi-Fi where possible. Horizon+ setup on Quest
Xbox’s setup guidance places Meta Quest in the Xbox app route: install or open the app, sign in, and choose a supported cloud game. The steps below describe that route without assuming exact menu names, which can change with app updates.
- Check your headset. Confirm it is a Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3, or Quest 3S.
- Check regional availability. Confirm both Xbox Cloud Gaming and the Horizon+ starter benefit are available to you. Xbox notes that plans, games, features, and availability vary.
- Confirm account access. Sign in with the Xbox account associated with the required active subscription or eligible Horizon+ benefit.
- Choose a cloud-supported game. Check that the particular title is available to your account for cloud play; do not assume the entire Game Pass catalog is streamable.
- Connect a controller. Pair a compatible controller over Bluetooth or connect it by USB, following the headset and controller instructions. Use touch controls only if the game supports them.
- Open the Xbox app and sign in. Install it if needed, launch it on Quest, and sign in. Then select a supported cloud game and follow the prompts shown in the current app. Xbox’s Getting Started with Xbox Cloud Gaming explains that access can be through an app or a web browser; for Quest, its guidance describes the app route.
What to expect from the starter benefit
The announced 10 cloud gaming hours are a monthly limit for the starter edition, while the 50+ games figure describes the announced catalog size. Neither figure means every listed game will necessarily be cloud-playable in every region or at all times. Xbox says game and service availability varies, so check the current catalog and account offer before choosing a title. The announcement also includes Rewards for playing but does not specify their value or detailed terms.

If setup or streaming does not work
- The benefit does not appear: check that the Horizon+ account is eligible and that the offer is available in your region. Availability is not universal according to the announcement.
- A game will not launch from the cloud: verify that the game supports cloud play for your plan and region. Some games or catalog items may not be available to stream.
- The controller is not recognized: check that the model and connection method are compatible, and retry Bluetooth pairing or USB connection using the device instructions.
- Streaming is unstable: compare your connection with Xbox’s 10 Mbps minimum and 20 Mbps guidance; where possible, use 5 GHz Wi-Fi and reduce competing network traffic.
