There is no verified evidence here that AI demand for GPUs caused Grand Theft Auto VI’s delays—or that it has delayed another named game. Rockstar says it moved GTA VI’s release to allow more time for quality and polish. Separately, NVIDIA reports supply constraints affecting its AI-focused data-center systems. Those facts describe different issues; they do not establish a cause-and-effect link between AI hardware demand and game release schedules.
What caused GTA VI’s delays, according to Rockstar?
Rockstar first moved GTA VI from a planned fall 2025 release to May 26, 2026. In its May 2, 2025 announcement, the studio said it needed more time to deliver the quality players expected. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick supported the extra time to realize Rockstar’s creative vision in the company’s May 2, 2025 investor announcement.

Rockstar then moved the date again, to November 19, 2026. Its November 6, 2025 announcement said the extra months would let the team finish the game to its expected level of polish. These are the company’s stated reasons; neither announcement attributes the changes to GPU supply or AI.

What NVIDIA’s AI supply disclosures do—and do not—show
In its Form 10-Q for the quarter ended July 26, 2026, NVIDIA says demand for accelerated computing and AI data-center products drove revenue growth in the first half of fiscal 2027. It also describes supply constraints for Blackwell and Vera Rubin data-center systems and infrastructure challenges involving land, power, and construction capacity. NVIDIA warns that limits on supply and deployment can delay customer and partner deployments.

That filing concerns NVIDIA’s data-center business and infrastructure. It does not say that AI demand reduced consumer gaming GPU availability, affected Rockstar’s production, or caused a game release to slip. A broader claim that “AI is eating up GPUs” and therefore delaying games goes beyond what these sources establish.
Is the AI GPU shortage delaying other games?
No specific game delay linked to AI GPU demand is established by the sources cited here. A GPU supplier’s data-center supply constraints are not, on their own, proof that studios lack the hardware they need to build games or that a particular release date changed for that reason. To substantiate such a claim, there would need to be a direct statement from the studio or reliable reporting that connects the hardware constraint to the schedule change.

What to know about the physical edition
Rockstar describes the physical version as a box containing a digital download code, not a game disc. Its support information also notes code-region limits, so check that a code’s region is compatible with your platform account before buying.
