The best free MacBook mockup depends on how you will edit it and where the finished image will appear. For a website or app screenshot, start with a straight-on 14-inch or 16-inch frame; for a case study or pitch deck, an angled laptop, desk, sofa or office scene adds context. Photoshop users should choose layered PSDs with smart objects, while Figma and Sketch users will get cleaner scaling from vector templates. A browser generator is fastest when you do not want to install design software.
The table below puts the clearest UI views first, then covers realistic scenes, long-scroll layouts and device combinations. Every item is described as free in the cited roundup; check the individual creator’s license before commercial publication.

The first 13 entries are drawn from the Super Dev Resources roundup, while the scene and collection options come from the companion collection summarized by Speckyboy. The browser workflow is described by Canva. A separate Device Mockup collection page published in 2025 states that it contains more than 120 templates, useful if you need additional angles after these picks.

Choose the editing environment first
- Photoshop PSD: Pick a layered file with a smart object when you need realistic reflections, shadows, highlights, background colors or prop layers. Double-clicking the smart-object layer opens a replacement canvas; save it, return to the scene and export the composite.
- Figma: Use vector templates for clean scaling, shared libraries and simultaneous editing. They are especially practical for teams preparing several screen sizes or variants.
- Sketch: Sketch-native files are useful when the source design and handoff already live in Sketch. Confirm that your Sketch version opens the file and that symbols or overrides remain editable.
- Canva: The generator avoids installation and complex layer management. Upload a screenshot, place it in the MacBook frame, adjust the composition and download the chosen format.
Match the viewpoint to the message
A front view keeps every interface element legible and is the safest choice for dashboards, stores, social feeds and app screens. Angled and side views create depth but make small text harder to read. Desk, office, sofa, table and stairs scenes communicate where a product is used; they work better for case-study covers and campaign graphics than for detailed UI review. Isometric scenes are effective for product diagrams, while the long-scroll file is designed to show an entire landing page in one composition.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Match the frame to the device
Use an Air frame when the project specifically targets MacBook Air, and choose the 14-inch or 16-inch Pro templates when bezel proportions matter to the design. The Air-specific files include a 2022 model and an M2 template; Pro-specific choices include 14-inch, 16-inch, 2021 and dark or clay treatments. A generic frame is acceptable for concept art, but it can look inaccurate in a hardware-focused presentation.
Check resolution before you start
For a hero image, print panel or large presentation slide, prioritize a high-resolution or 4K source. The listed 16-inch front-view file is 6000 × 4500 pixels, and the separate 4K template is intended for sharp output. Vector Figma artwork can be scaled without the raster limits of a PSD, but embedded photos, textures and shadows still have their own resolution ceilings.
Best picks by common project
For a website or app portfolio
Start with the 6000 × 4500-pixel 16-inch front view, the 14-inch Figma template or the MacBook Air 2022 front view. Their straight-on screens keep navigation, cards and typography readable. Use the clay versions when the portfolio needs a neutral frame rather than a photographic environment.

For a landing-page case study
The Long Scroll MacBook Mockup is the most direct fit because its isometric composition and wrinkle/3D effect accommodate a tall page. It is described as free for personal and commercial projects, but still read the creator’s current terms because licenses can change.
For a responsive-design presentation
The MacBook and iPhone scene puts desktop and mobile layouts together in a dark-mode composition. The six-file collection that includes MacBook, iPad and iPhone options is a better choice when you need several independent screens rather than one combined scene.
For branding and client decks
Use the desk scene, corporate branding scene, office templates or the MacBook Pro with vase. Props such as notebooks, business cards, lamps and phones make an identity system feel situated in a real workspace. Keep the screen artwork simple enough that the branding remains the focal point.

For dark interfaces
The Minimal MacBook Pro and Dark MacBook Pro sets provide dark hardware and alternate backgrounds. A dark frame can increase contrast with a light UI, but check edge visibility and reflections before exporting.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

- Download and unpack the file. Keep the original PSD untouched and work on a copy so you can return to the supplied layer structure.
- Open the Layers panel. Look for a layer named “Screen,” “Your Design,” “Replace,” or a smart-object thumbnail. The exact label varies by creator.
- Open the smart object. Double-click its thumbnail, paste or place your screenshot, resize it to cover the canvas and hide any placeholder artwork.
- Save the smart-object document. Use the smart-object window’s save command, then close it or return to the main composition. Photoshop updates the screen automatically.
- Adjust optional layers. Toggle shadows, highlights, reflections, props and background-color layers only when the scene remains believable. Do not flatten the file if you still need revisions.
- Export a copy. Use PNG for transparency or crisp UI edges, JPEG for a smaller photographic file, and a color profile appropriate to the destination. Keep the layered PSD as your editable master.
How to use a Figma or Sketch template
Figma workflow
- Import the Figma file or duplicate it into the team workspace.
- Find the screen frame, mask or component intended for replacement.
- Paste the design, crop it to the screen bounds and preserve the device’s corner radius and perspective.
- Replace background fills or vector props only when those layers are marked editable; lock the hardware frame to prevent accidental distortion.
- Export the selected frame at the scale required by the destination. Figma’s vector device artwork can scale, but raster screenshots should be exported at a sufficient pixel density.
Sketch workflow
- Open the Sketch document and locate the screen symbol or override.
- Insert the artwork into the designated symbol, checking that masks and corner radii are retained.
- Use the supplied background and view layers rather than stretching the MacBook group manually.
- Export the artboard and keep the original Sketch file for future screen swaps.
How to make a MacBook mockup in Canva
- Open Canva’s MacBook mockup generator in a browser and start a design at the output size you need.
- Upload a website screenshot, app screen or branding artwork.
- Choose a MacBook angle or setup, then drag the artwork into the screen area.
- Adjust crop, position, background and any available scene controls until the bezel and perspective look natural.
- Download the result in the format offered for your design. Keep a full-resolution source screenshot because a low-resolution upload cannot be repaired by the mockup.
Canva defines a MacBook mockup as “a presentation of your design and how it would look on a MacBook screen.” Its browser approach is useful when speed and accessibility matter more than pixel-level control over layered reflections.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Common problems and fixes
The screenshot looks soft
Start with a higher-resolution capture and choose the 6000 × 4500-pixel or 4K options for large outputs. In a PSD, avoid enlarging a small screenshot inside a large smart object. In Figma, replace a low-resolution bitmap with a larger export even though the device frame itself is vector.
The screen is stretched or misaligned
Use the supplied mask, symbol or smart object instead of transforming the hardware group. Check that the screenshot’s aspect ratio matches the screen canvas, and keep corner radii consistent with the frame.

Reflections make text unreadable
Lower the reflection or highlight layer’s opacity, or choose a front-view or clay template. Realistic scenes are not automatically better when the reader must inspect interface details.
The PSD opens without editable layers
Confirm that you downloaded the layered source rather than a preview JPEG. Some files use ordinary image layers instead of smart objects; those can still accept a replacement image, but perspective and lighting will require manual editing.
The template does not match the claimed MacBook generation
Check the frame label and proportions before presenting hardware-specific work. The listed options distinguish MacBook Air 2022, MacBook Air M2, 14-inch and 16-inch Pro, and a 2021 16-inch Pro. If the project depends on exact hardware, use the closest model-specific file instead of a generic laptop scene.

A practical selection checklist
- Is the primary goal UI legibility, environmental storytelling or both?
- Do you need PSD smart objects, Figma vectors, Sketch symbols or a browser editor?
- Does the frame match MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, 14-inch, 16-inch, M2 or 2021/2022 proportions?
- Will the image be displayed large enough to justify 4K or 6000 × 4500-pixel artwork?
- Would a front view communicate better than an angled, sofa, table, stairs or desk scene?
- Does the license permit the exact commercial use and redistribution you plan?
- Have you kept the editable source and exported a copy in the required color and file format?
What to use when you need official interface accuracy
Apple’s official Design Resources catalog includes a macOS 27 UI Kit for Figma and Sketch. It is intended for interface-accurate design work rather than a library of photographic mockup scenes. Use it to build or validate macOS interface layouts, then place the resulting artwork into one of the presentation templates above when you need a realistic MacBook context.
Final recommendation
For most website and app work, choose the 16-inch front-view template at 6000 × 4500 pixels or the 14-inch Figma front view. Select a model-specific Air or Pro file when hardware proportions matter. Move to desk, office, sofa, table, stairs or branding scenes for a case-study cover, and use the Long Scroll file for a full landing-page story. If you need the fastest path with no installation, Canva’s generator is the practical option; if you need exact macOS UI construction, start with Apple’s Figma or Sketch kit and then compose the final presentation in a mockup scene.
