There is no single image size for LinkedIn. A personal profile cover, LinkedIn Page cover, logo, URL-post preview and Career Page module each have different dimensions and file limits. Choose the destination first, then crop or resize the image to fit it without stretching.

These are placement-specific recommendations and requirements, not a universal LinkedIn image preset. LinkedIn may update them, so check the relevant Help page if an upload behaves differently.

How to resize an image for LinkedIn
- Identify the destination. Decide whether the image is for a personal profile, a LinkedIn Page, a URL preview or a Career Page module. Do not use the 1200 × 627 px URL-preview recommendation for every feed post.
- Set the target dimensions and crop. Use the matching row above. Preserve the original file, crop to the target aspect ratio, and avoid stretching the image to fill the canvas; stretching distorts faces, logos and text.
- Keep important content in a safe area. For covers, place faces, logos and text near the center rather than at the edges. LinkedIn warns that covers can be adjusted for different screens and calls particular attention to the lower-right corner. LinkedIn cover image guidance
- Export in an accepted format and respect the correct limit. Use PNG or JPG/JPEG as specified for the placement. Personal profile uploads have an 8 MB maximum; Page images have a 3 MB maximum. A smaller file size does not fix the wrong crop or aspect ratio.
- Upload and preview. LinkedIn provides crop, filter, position, size and rotation controls for personal profile covers. Why a LinkedIn image looks blurry or cropped
The image is the wrong shape
A tall or square source image forced into a wide cover or URL-preview slot may lose content at the edges. Crop deliberately to the intended ratio, then preview. For covers, keep essential text and faces well inside the central area, particularly away from the lower-right.

The image is being adjusted for the screen
LinkedIn says cover images may be adjusted or cropped to fit different screens. Personal cover appearance can also change with browser-window size and screen resolution, so one preview is not a guarantee of identical framing everywhere.

The file is low quality or over-compressed
LinkedIn recommends high-quality JPEG for Page image resolution. If a Page cover remains blurry or pixelated, its guidance suggests choosing an image with a larger file size and considering compression utilities; it names Trimage for Windows and ImageOptim for Mac as examples, not required or endorsed products. The file exceeds the placement limit
Check the limit for the destination rather than assuming every LinkedIn upload allows 8 MB. Profile photos and covers allow up to 8 MB under the cited guidance, while Page images are limited to 3 MB. If a file is too large, compression can help meet the limit, but it cannot correct unsuitable dimensions.

Special cases: URL posts and Career Pages
Page post with a URL
For a custom image accompanying a Page post with a URL, LinkedIn specifies 1200 × 627 px at 1.91:1. An image more than 200 px wide avoids the left-thumbnail treatment. This is URL-post guidance; LinkedIn’s cited material does not establish one universal recommended size for all organic image-only feed posts, so do not treat 1200 × 627 px as their standard.

The Life tab’s main image, custom modules and company photos have their own dimensions. These modules require a Career Page, so the specifications apply only to Pages with that feature—not every company Page. LinkedIn Career Pages

Dynamic Page covers
