Most offers advertised as free are 24–48-hour trials. A ScalaCube page lists a free ARK plan, but another ScalaCube page says free ARK servers are no longer provided, so that option cannot be treated as dependable until you confirm it on the live site. The longest reported no-cost test is a 30-day trial on a generic VPS, but you must install, secure and operate the ARK server yourself.

What “free ARK server hosting” means in 2026
Free hosting falls into three different categories, and they are not interchangeable:

- A permanent-style free plan: a provider keeps a server available without a recurring hosting charge. This is the rarest category and the least certain for ARK.
- A game-host trial: the provider supplies a ready-to-use ARK instance for a short period, commonly 24 or 48 hours. You normally avoid server installation, but the instance expires unless you convert to a paid plan.
- A generic VPS trial: a cloud virtual machine is free for a longer introductory period, but it is an empty server. You install ARK, configure networking, apply updates and handle backups yourself.
“Free” can also mean a money-back guarantee rather than a free period. You may be able to play before paying, but you still need to understand when the charge occurs and how cancellation works. Trial terms, supported game editions and hardware allocations can change without notice, so check the provider’s current page on the day you register.

ScalaCube: the apparently free plan that needs verification
ScalaCube is the only candidate in the available listings that resembles a permanent free ARK plan. Its plan page lists:
- 32 GB of RAM
- An eight-core CPU
- 50 GB of SSD storage
- Unlimited traffic and bandwidth
- DDoS protection
- A price shown as free
The plan supports only an IP with Port address option, rather than a conventional hostname. That matters when sharing a connection with players or configuring bookmarks.
There is a direct conflict in ScalaCube’s own indexed material. A separate free-ARK page says, “Unfortunately, we don’t provide free game servers for ARK: Survival Evolved anymore.” The indexed page appears to be roughly 1,460 days old, so it may be stale, but it is still the provider’s own statement. Do not build a long-running community around the plan until the current account panel lets you create an ARK server and the provider confirms that the offer is active.
An older ScalaCube help article adds another condition: free servers had to be renewed with a Renew for free action approximately every two days. If the renewal was missed, the server and its contents were automatically deleted. Because that article is also dated, treat the two-day cycle as a historical warning, not a current promise. If you test the plan, export saves and configuration files before every renewal deadline.

Information about a free ScalaCube tier for ARK: Survival Ascended is especially uncertain. A guide describes that tier as likely limited and advises checking first. Do not assume that a plan mentioning Survival Evolved also runs Ascended; the two editions have different server requirements and availability.
Short game-host trials
PingPerfect: 48 hours
A summary of PingPerfect’s site describes a 48-hour game-server trial with no payment required. That window is suitable for checking settings, player connectivity and mod behavior. It is not a practical basis for a persistent public server: plan your save export and migration before the second day ends.

FreakHosting is described as offering a free two-day trial on selected game-server and VPS plans, with ARK among the supported games. Confirm whether the ARK trial is attached to the managed game product or only to a particular VPS promotion. The distinction determines whether a control panel is provided or you must perform the installation yourself.
Nodecraft: conflicting trial windows
Nodecraft’s ARK material has more than one term in circulation: a 24-hour option without a credit card and a seven-day option requiring payment details. Its Minecraft page describes a three-day paid-details trial, while a 2026 guide reports 48 hours. These cannot all be treated as the current ARK offer. Read the ARK checkout screen, record the exact expiry time and check whether payment details authorize an automatic conversion.

Sparked Host: 24 hours
A comparison summary lists a 24-hour free trial. Use such a short window to validate whether friends can connect and whether the server settings you need are exposed in the panel. Keep a local copy of the save rather than waiting until the final hours.
Fozzy: three-day money-back period
Fozzy is described as providing a three-day money-back guarantee for ARK. This is a refund policy, not a permanently free server and not necessarily a zero-payment signup. Check whether payment is taken at activation, the exact refund request method and whether setup fees or add-ons fall outside the guarantee.

Kamatera and VPSServer.com appear in comparison articles with 30-day VPS trials valued up to $100. This is the longest no-cost testing period described, but it trades convenience for control. A VPS trial gives you a general-purpose virtual machine, not an ARK-ready instance.
You are responsible for selecting an operating system, installing the ARK server software, opening the required game and query ports, creating an administrator account, applying updates, monitoring storage and CPU use, and arranging backups. The trial’s stated dollar value is a maximum promotional value, not cash you receive. Confirm whether unused credit disappears at the end of the month and whether a payment method is required.

A VPS makes sense when you want to learn server administration, need more than a short connectivity test or plan to migrate to a paid virtual machine later. It is a poor fit if your priority is launching quickly for a group of friends and never touching command-line administration.

- Choose the edition first. Decide whether your players use ARK: Survival Evolved or ARK: Survival Ascended. A listing for one edition does not establish support for the other.
- Classify the offer. Label it permanent-style, a fixed-hour trial or a money-back guarantee. Write down the expiry time, renewal action and whether a card is required.
- Check the actual ARK product page. Do not rely on a comparison list. Confirm that ARK is selectable at checkout, note the region and record the promised resources.
- Create a minimal test world. Start with the map, player limit and mods you actually intend to use. Test joining from outside the host account’s network before inviting a larger group.
- Export immediately. Download the world save and configuration files while the server is working. A two-day renewal policy or an expired trial can delete contents without a recovery period.
- Set a calendar reminder. For a renewable free plan, schedule the renewal at least several hours before the stated deadline. For a paid-conversion trial, schedule cancellation before the billing event.
- Prepare the exit. Keep a copy of the save locally and identify a destination host or VPS before the trial ends. A migration plan is what turns a short trial into useful testing rather than lost progress.
Survival Evolved versus Survival Ascended
Most free-host references in the available listings name ARK: Survival Evolved. Ascended support is not established for the ScalaCube plan or the short game-host trials listed above. The safest assumption is that edition support must be verified separately.

- Ask whether the control panel has a distinct Ascended option, not merely an ARK label.
- Confirm that the advertised RAM, storage and CPU figures apply to the edition you will run.
- Check mod and map availability for that edition before uploading a save.
- Do not restore an Evolved save into an Ascended instance unless the game’s own compatibility rules permit it.
Common failure points and fixes
The “free” button leads to payment
You may be looking at a money-back guarantee or a trial that requires card details. Stop before submitting payment, read the conversion clause and confirm the cancellation deadline. A promotional credit is not the same as a zero-cost plan.
The server disappears after a couple of days
That behavior is consistent with an expired trial or the older ScalaCube renewal model. Check the account’s renewal notice first. If the server has been deleted, contact support immediately, but rely on your downloaded save rather than assuming restoration is possible.
Players cannot connect
Verify that the server is online, that you are sharing the correct IP and port, and that the game edition and version match the client. ScalaCube’s listed free plan uses an IP-with-port address, so omitting the port can send players to the wrong endpoint.
The VPS runs out of capacity
A VPS trial’s promotional value does not guarantee a particular ARK configuration. Monitor disk space and memory while testing. Reduce the number of mods and players for the trial, or select a larger instance only after confirming that the trial credit covers it.
Which route fits your goal?
- One evening with friends: choose a 24- or 48-hour managed trial and export the save before it expires.
- A weekend evaluation: a three-day guarantee or a verified multi-day trial gives more time to test maps, settings and player access.
- A month of technical testing: consider the 30-day VPS trial if you can install and administer ARK yourself.
- A persistent community: do not plan around a free offer until its renewal, deletion and edition terms are confirmed in writing. Budget for a paid service or a VPS after the test period.
What to verify before signing up
- The exact edition: Survival Evolved, Survival Ascended or both.
- Whether the offer is genuinely free, requires a card or is refundable only after payment.
- The trial end time and the provider’s time zone.
- Whether the server, save and configurations are deleted automatically.
- How renewal works and how often it must be repeated.
- RAM, CPU, storage and bandwidth limits for the selected ARK instance.
- Whether you receive an IP, an IP-with-port address or a hostname.
- Backup and file-download tools available in the control panel.
- The cancellation process and the date automatic billing begins.
Those checks matter more than a “free” badge. In 2026, no listed option establishes a dependable, permanent ARK server at no cost, while the available trials are useful when treated as controlled tests with a backup and an exit plan.
