Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteFramework X is an open-source PHP microframework for building web applications and HTTP APIs. Its documented starting point is small: install the Composer package, create a FrameworkXApp, register route handlers, and run the app. It also supports PSR-7 requests and middleware, with deployment options ranging from conventional PHP web-server setups to its built-in server.
What Framework X is
The project describes Framework X as “The simple and fast micro framework for building reactive web applications with PHP.” It is distributed as the Composer package clue/framework-x under the MIT license. The official homepage presents speed and high-load handling as project benefits, not as quantified guarantees. Framework X homepage

Install it and create a first route
The documented quickstart uses Composer and a small PHP entry point. Run the install command in your project directory:
composer require clue/framework-x:^0.17
Then create an application, register handlers, and call $app->run(). This example follows the official quickstart pattern:
#1 Best Overall
<?php
require __DIR__ . '/vendor/autoload.php';
$app = new FrameworkXApp();
$app->get('/', function () {
return new ReactHttpMessageResponse(
200,
['Content-Type' => 'text/plain'],
"Hello, world!n"
);
});
$app->get('/users/{name}', function (PsrHttpMessageServerRequestInterface $request) {
$name = $request->getAttribute('name');
return new ReactHttpMessageResponse(
200,
['Content-Type' => 'text/plain'],
"Hello, $name!n"
);
});
$app->run();
The root handler responds to /; the parameterized route matches paths such as /users/Ada. A handler can receive a PSR-7 ServerRequestInterface, and the quickstart reads the matched route parameter from the request attributes. The official quickstart also shows running the entry point with PHP. Official quickstart
PHP version and package constraints
The homepage calls Framework X “PHP 8.4+ ready” and also says it supports PHP 7.1+. These are project compatibility statements, not a substitute for checking what a particular release requires. Before choosing a runtime, verify the installed package’s Composer constraints and the release documentation; the documented installation command targets the ^0.17 version range. How middleware fits in
Middleware adds logic around a request handler: it can inspect or modify an incoming request and affect the outgoing response. The documentation covers inline middleware as well as reusable middleware classes, along with request, response, async, global, and built-in middleware topics. Middleware documentation
Logging, authentication, and session handling are examples of concerns developers commonly implement through middleware patterns; their mention does not mean every such feature is included or configured automatically. Consult the relevant middleware documentation and determine which behavior your application needs.
Choose a deployment model
Framework X documents both conventional PHP web-server deployments and a built-in pure-PHP server. The appropriate choice depends on the host’s PHP and process support, as well as how the application is expected to run. Deployment documentation
| Deployment route | What the project documents | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Conventional web server | Apache, nginx, or another CGI/FastCGI arrangement, including PHP-FPM | That the host supports the required PHP runtime and can route requests to the application using the chosen CGI/FastCGI setup. |
| Built-in server | A pure-PHP server described by the project as event-driven, with non-blocking handling | That the environment supports the required PHP version and the long-running process model expected by this deployment route. |
The project associates its built-in server with high-load benefits, but the reviewed official material does not provide a dated benchmark, workload, hardware configuration, or comparison against another framework. Treat speed and capacity as qualitative project claims, not a performance ranking or service guarantee. For a real deployment, validate the process model and host configuration against your own application and traffic.

When Framework X may fit
Its documented workflow is a good starting point if you want a Composer-installed PHP microframework with route handlers, PSR-7 request handling, middleware patterns, and more than one documented deployment route. Decide whether its runtime constraints and server model fit your environment before adopting it. The available official material does not support a numerical speed claim or a direct framework-versus-framework verdict.
