Windows PC
PC players have two storefront choices. The Microsoft Store and Xbox app use the Xbox ecosystem, while Steam uses a separate Steam purchase and account environment. Both storefronts are official PC routes, but you should select the one that matches where you keep your games and friends list.
PlayStation 5
The PS5 edition is not playable until its scheduled 26 January 2027 launch, except for Premium Edition early access from 21 January. The official announcement also confirms a physical disc edition through supporting retailers. Retail stock, regional packaging and the exact disc listing can vary, so check the retailer listing before ordering.
Release dates and Premium early access
Xbox Series X|S and PC launched on 19 May 2026. On those platforms, Premium early access began four days earlier, on 15 May 2026. PS5 Standard and Deluxe launch on 26 January 2027, while PS5 Premium early access begins on 21 January 2027.

Early access is tied to the Premium edition or its corresponding upgrade, not simply to pre-ordering a Standard or Deluxe copy.
Forza Horizon 6 editions compared
The game has three announced editions. Standard contains the base game. Deluxe adds the Welcome Pack and Car Pass. Premium includes the base game, VIP Membership, Welcome Pack, Car Pass, Time Attack Car Pack, Italian Passion Car Pack, Expansion 1 and Expansion 2.
Rank #2
- PREMIUM EDITION — Includes the full game, VIP Membership, Welcome Pack, Time Attack Car Pack, Car Pass, Italian Passion Car Pack, and two Premium Expansions (coming post launch).
- DISCOVER JAPAN — Explore Horizon’s largest map ever, set in Japan and packed with dramatic verticality, diverse biomes, and spectacular open‑road driving routes.
- CRUISE ICONIC LOCATIONS — Drive through Tokyo’s city streets, suburbs, docks, and industrial districts in the most expansive urban environment in Horizon history.
- DRIVE 550+ REAL‑WORLD CARS — Collect and customize over 550 licensed vehicles with body kits, Forza Aero, window liveries, and enhanced steering animations.

| Edition | Included content | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | Full game | Players who want the core game, or subscribers using Game Pass on Xbox or PC |
| Deluxe | Full game, Welcome Pack and Car Pass | Players who want the first car-content bundle without the expansions and VIP benefits |
| Premium | Full game, VIP Membership, Welcome Pack, Car Pass, Time Attack Car Pack, Italian Passion Car Pack, Expansion 1 and Expansion 2 | Players who want every announced premium add-on and early access |
What the Welcome Pack and Car Pass decision means
The Deluxe tier is the middle option for buyers who want additional launch content but do not want to pay for the two announced expansions or VIP Membership. The Car Pass is included in both Deluxe and Premium, so buying Premium after Deluxe is not a second purchase of that pass; compare the upgrade price shown for your account.
What Premium adds
Premium is the only listed edition that combines VIP Membership, both named car packs and both announced expansions with early access. The descriptions identify Expansion 1 and Expansion 2, but do not provide their individual names or launch dates. Treat those details as separate announcements rather than assuming a release schedule.
Premium Upgrade
The Premium Upgrade is for people who already own the Standard or Deluxe base game. It requires that base-game entitlement and adds the Premium content listed above. It is not a standalone copy of Forza Horizon 6, so do not buy it on an account that does not already own the game or have an eligible entitlement.
PS5 prices and physical buying options
The US PlayStation Store lists the PS5 editions at these prices:
| PS5 edition | US list price |
|---|---|
| Standard | $69.99 |
| Deluxe | $99.99 |
| Premium | $119.99 |
These are US digital-store prices reported for the current listing. PlayStation prices are regional and can change, so confirm the amount and included content on the store page at checkout. The announced PS5 disc edition is sold through supporting retailers; its local price, stock and any retailer-specific bonus are not established by the release announcement.
Rank #3
- PREMIUM UPGRADE — Includes VIP Membership, Welcome Pack, Time Attack Car Pack, Car Pass, Italian Passion Car Pack, and two Premium Expansions. Requires Forza Horizon 6 base game or Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
- VIP MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS — Enjoy a 2x Credit boost to race rewards, 3 VIP-Exclusive Forza Edition cars, a weekly bonus Super Wheelspin, and special Vanity Items.
- WELCOME PACK — Features 5 special pre-tuned cars and a Car Voucher, which can be used to claim any car available from the Autoshow.
- TIME ATTACK CAR PACK — Receive 8 legendary cars ideal for mastering every turn and corner at the Time Attack Circuits located around Japan.
- ITALIAN PASSION CAR PACK — Introduces 4 great new Italian cars in Forza Horizon 6 post-launch, perfect for cruising, racing, or exploring.
Xbox and PC pricing is not stated here because storefront prices, regional taxes and promotional offers can change independently. For those platforms, compare the live Microsoft Store, Xbox app and Steam listings rather than applying the PS5 prices.
Is Forza Horizon 6 included with Game Pass?
Yes. Game Pass Ultimate includes the Xbox console version, and PC Game Pass includes the PC version. The official FAQ says members can play at no additional game charge from 19 May 2026, the Xbox and PC launch date. “No additional game charge” refers to access while the required subscription remains active; it does not convert the game into a permanent purchase.
Choosing Game Pass versus buying
- Choose Game Pass if you already subscribe, want to try the game before committing, or mainly play other catalog titles as well.
- Buy Standard if you want permanent ownership without the extra edition content, or if you do not plan to maintain a subscription.
- Buy Deluxe or Premium if the included car content, VIP Membership, expansions or early access justify the additional cost for your play style.
On PC, confirm whether your preferred installation is through the Xbox app/Microsoft Store or Steam. A Game Pass entitlement is associated with the Xbox ecosystem and is not the same as owning a Steam license.
Microsoft Store, Xbox app or Steam: which PC route should you use?
| Route | Account ecosystem | Best fit | Important consideration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Microsoft Store/Xbox app | Microsoft/Xbox account | Players using Xbox Play Anywhere, Xbox friends and Game Pass | Keep the Microsoft account that owns the entitlement signed in |
| Steam | Steam account, with the game’s required connected services | Players who keep their PC library and friends on Steam | Steam ownership and Xbox/Microsoft Store ownership are separate purchases |
Both PC storefronts provide the Windows version, but a purchase on one storefront should not be assumed to unlock the other. Before buying DLC or a Premium Upgrade, use the same storefront and account as the base game so the entitlement can be recognized correctly.
Cross-play, cross-save and shared user content
The PS5 version supports cross-platform play and cross-save with the Xbox and Steam versions. User-created content is also shared across platforms. This lets players on PS5, Xbox and PC play together and carry supported progress between linked versions, rather than maintaining completely isolated platform profiles.

Cross-save does not mean every platform purchase is interchangeable. Your save data and user-created content can travel when the required accounts are linked, but a PlayStation purchase, Microsoft Store purchase and Steam purchase remain separate storefront entitlements. Check the account-linking prompts during setup and avoid creating a second profile if you intend to continue an existing save.
How to buy the right version
- Identify your hardware. Choose Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC or PS5. If you have an older console, verify compatibility before looking at editions.
- Choose your storefront. Use Xbox/Microsoft Store or Game Pass on Xbox; choose Xbox app/Microsoft Store or Steam on PC; use PlayStation Store or a supporting retailer for PS5.
- Check the launch date. Xbox and PC are playable now. PS5 Standard and Deluxe are scheduled for 26 January 2027, while PS5 Premium access starts 21 January.
- Compare edition content. Select Standard for the base game, Deluxe for Welcome Pack and Car Pass, or Premium for VIP, both named car packs, both expansions and early access.
- Check account ownership. On PC, make sure the account buying the game is the account that will install and play it. For an upgrade, verify that the same account owns Standard or Deluxe.
- Review the final price and format. Confirm regional taxes, currency, disc availability and any changed edition contents immediately before payment.
Common purchasing problems and fixes
The Premium Upgrade cannot be purchased
The usual cause is that the account does not own the Standard or Deluxe base game, or the store is displaying a different account’s entitlement. Sign out of extra store accounts, sign back into the account that owns the base game and reopen the listing. If you access the game through a subscription, check whether the upgrade listing accepts that entitlement in your region.
The game appears on Xbox but not on PC
Confirm that you are using the same Microsoft account on the Xbox console and the Windows Xbox app. Xbox Play Anywhere applies to an eligible purchase made in the Xbox ecosystem; a Steam purchase is separate and will not automatically appear in the Microsoft Store library.
A Steam purchase is missing from the Xbox app
This is expected for storefront ownership. Install the Steam edition through Steam and complete any required account linking inside the game. Do not buy a second copy unless you specifically need a separate Microsoft Store or Xbox entitlement.
A PS5 disc listing is unavailable
The announcement says the disc edition will be available through supporting retailers, not that every retailer or region will carry it. Check another authorized retailer, verify the release date and confirm that the disc is for your region before ordering. The PlayStation Store digital edition is the alternative when physical stock is unavailable.

Which edition should you buy?
Best value for a subscription player
Start with the Game Pass version on Xbox Series X|S or PC if you already have the qualifying subscription. You can decide later whether permanent ownership or an upgrade is worthwhile, subject to the offers and entitlements shown in your store.
Best choice for a straightforward purchase
Standard is the cleanest option when you want the complete base game and do not need the additional car bundles, VIP benefits or expansions.
Best choice for extra launch content
Deluxe adds the Welcome Pack and Car Pass without committing you to Premium’s expansions and VIP Membership.
Best choice for complete announced content
Premium is appropriate if you want every announced add-on, early access and the VIP Membership. On PS5, that means playing from 21 January 2027; on Xbox and PC, Premium early access began on 15 May 2026.
