Xbox and PC launched on May 19, 2026, while the official Forza and Xbox pages reviewed describe the PS5 version as coming later in 2026, without a specific date. The right choice depends on when you want to play, what hardware you own, and whether Game Pass or Xbox Play Anywhere matters to you.
Should you buy Forza Horizon 6 on PS5 or Xbox?
At the information available on October 7, 2026, Xbox Series X|S and PC are the available choices. PS5 was announced for later in 2026, but the official pages reviewed do not name a release day. If you own a PS5 and do not want to play elsewhere, wait for a confirmed date and a live PlayStation Store listing rather than buying another platform on speculation. Forza’s release announcement and the campaign announcement give the current official platform picture.

Choose Xbox Series X|S if you want a console now
Xbox is the straightforward option if you want to play on a console immediately. Game Pass Ultimate includes the game on Xbox Series X|S, according to the Xbox store listing; check the current subscription terms and availability before relying on that access. If you also play on Windows PC, Xbox Play Anywhere is another reason to consider the Xbox version: the store describes it as “Buy once, play on XBOX console and PC.”

Choose PC if settings, Steam, or handheld play matter
PC launched alongside Xbox, with access through the Xbox app and Steam. It suits players who want configurable graphics settings or prefer Steam and supported handheld options. The experience depends on your PC hardware and chosen settings; the sources do not establish a universal performance advantage over Xbox or PS5.

Wait for PS5 if that is where you want to play
Forza has announced PS5 support, but the official sources reviewed only say later in 2026. They do not establish a specific PS5 date, regional price, edition details, or graphics and performance modes. Those details matter if you are choosing between PS5 and another platform, so wait for the official PlayStation Store listing or a dated Forza announcement before making the decision.

The store’s “buy once” wording refers to Xbox console and PC, not every platform. It does not establish that an Xbox purchase unlocks the PS5 version or that paid DLC transfers between storefronts.
Does Forza Horizon 6 have cross-save between Xbox and PS5?
Yes. Forza says campaign progress carries across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, and Steam. The announcement says progress “follows you no matter which device you’re discovering Japan on.” That makes starting on Xbox or PC and later moving to PS5 more practical if you are willing to obtain access on both platforms. Cross-save is about progress, not proof of cross-buy or shared DLC entitlements; check the terms for each store before assuming purchases carry over.

Can you play Forza Horizon 6 on PC with Game Pass?
The official Xbox listing presents the game as included with Game Pass on PC, and Xbox Wire lists Game Pass Ultimate and PC availability. Confirm the current catalog and subscription terms in your region before subscribing or counting on continued access. A subscription is an access option; it is not the same as owning a copy.

What do the editions and launch timing mean?
Xbox’s listing describes Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate/Premium content tiers, but editions and contents can differ by storefront and change over time. Its visible Deluxe details include the game, Car Pass (30 cars delivered weekly), and Welcome Pack. Playground Games says Premium includes early access and lists VIP membership, Welcome Pack, Time Attack Car Pack, Car Pass, Italian Passion Car Pack, and two Premium Expansions planned post-launch. Check the current listing for the platform and edition you intend to buy.
Premium early access for Xbox and PC began May 15, 2026, ahead of the May 19 launch. The Ferrari J50 preorder incentive mentioned in Forza’s release announcement was a pre-release promotion, not a reason to expect the offer now.
What PC and console storage should you plan for?
Playground Games’ 2026 preload post listed a 160GB storage requirement and an SSD requirement for PC. It listed 135GB for Xbox Series X and 130GB for Xbox Series S. These are launch-era preload figures, not a guarantee of the current space needed after updates; check the platform’s current requirements before installing. The post is at Forza’s preload information.
What is in the game across platforms?
Playground Games said Forza Horizon 6 launched with over 550 cars. It also described enhanced steering animations with up to 540 degrees of wheel rotation. That figure describes in-game animation; it does not confirm that a particular physical racing wheel is compatible with the game or with every platform. Check a wheel maker’s platform-specific compatibility information before buying a peripheral.
