Redeem the code while signed in to the Epic Games account that should own the item. Ordinary Fortnite product codes use the Epic Games Launcher or Epic Games Store redemption page; Fortnite gift cards use Epic’s separate gift-card flow. Once accepted, find cosmetics in Locker from the Matchmaking Lobby or a Changing Booth.
Choose the account before you enter anything
Fortnite ownership follows the account used during redemption. Epic’s redeem portal warns: Make sure you’re signed in to the right account! Funds and purchases can’t be transferred.
Treat that warning as a final check, not a formality. A code redeemed on the wrong Epic account is not something you can normally move later to another account.

- Sign in to the Epic Games account you intend to use for Fortnite.
- If you play on a console, identify the Epic account linked to that console profile rather than creating a second Epic account by accident.
- Check the displayed account name or email before submitting a code.
- Keep the code, purchase receipt and redemption confirmation until the item or balance is visible.
When a redemption page asks you to link an additional console account, review the account details before accepting. Linking the wrong console profile can make later account troubleshooting considerably harder.

“Fortnite code” can mean three different things. The correct route depends on whether the code grants a named product, adds account funds, or adds V-Bucks.

| Code or card | What it grants | Where to redeem | What to expect afterward |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ordinary Epic/Fortnite product code | A specific product, such as a cosmetic pack or other entitlement identified with the code | Epic Games Launcher or the Epic Games Store web redemption page | The granted item is attached to the Epic account used at confirmation |
| Fortnite gift card | Funds added to the Epic account balance | Epic’s dedicated Fortnite gift-card redemption flow | Use the balance for eligible purchases; it does not promise a particular named outfit |
| Fortnite V-Bucks card | V-Bucks, subject to the card’s terms | Epic’s separate V-Bucks-card procedure | V-Bucks appear in the account covered by that procedure and can then be spent in Fortnite |
Epic lists Fortnite V-Bucks, Fortnite Crew and Packs among purchases that can be made with Fortnite gift-card funds. Epic also lists Epic Games Store games, downloadable content and add-ons as eligible uses. A gift card therefore supplies spending balance; it is not a voucher for one guaranteed skin. Do not enter a gift-card PIN in the ordinary product-code field, and do not assume a V-Bucks card follows the gift-card workflow.
How to redeem an ordinary Fortnite product code
Use this path for a code that identifies a particular product rather than a balance card.
- Open the Epic Games Launcher, or open the Epic Games Store’s web redemption page.
- Sign in to the Epic account that should receive the item.
- In the launcher, click your account name to open the account menu.
- Select Redeem Code.
- Enter the code exactly as printed. Preserve hyphens if they appear, and check characters that are easy to confuse, such as zero and the letter O.
- Confirm the account and the redemption details shown on screen.
- Submit the code and save the confirmation page or email.
A successful acceptance means Epic has recorded the entitlement; it does not necessarily mean Fortnite is already open or that you are looking at the correct Locker tab. Close and restart Fortnite after redeeming, then check the account’s Locker.

- Scan the QR code on the card or enter its PIN in Epic’s Fortnite gift-card redemption page.
- Sign in with the Epic account, or the linked console account, that should receive the funds.
- Review the account information displayed by the page. Stop if it is not the intended account.
- Link additional accounts if Epic prompts you to do so, checking each account name before proceeding.
- Select Redeem now to complete the transaction.
- Confirm that the balance was credited, then use it for an eligible Fortnite or Epic Games Store purchase.
The card’s denomination, region and any promotion are conditions of the transaction. Check the information shown at redemption time rather than relying on a listing or a social-media post. Retailer availability and eligible uses can vary by region.
Are Fortnite gift cards and V-Bucks cards interchangeable?
No. A Fortnite gift card adds money to the Epic account balance. A V-Bucks card is handled through Epic’s V-Bucks-card procedure and is intended to deliver V-Bucks. Because the cards represent different account credits, entering one in the other card’s redemption page can produce an error or send you to the wrong support path.
Use the wording and instructions printed on the card to classify it. If the card says it adds account funds, use the gift-card flow. If it specifies V-Bucks, use Epic’s V-Bucks-card flow. A gift card can later pay for V-Bucks, Crew or a Pack, but that purchase happens after the balance is added and does not turn the original card into a fixed-skin code.

Where a redeemed skin appears in Fortnite
Epic describes Locker as the inventory space that stores player appearance and gameplay customizations such as pickaxe styles, outfits, and weapon wraps.
In the game, open Locker from the top menu of the Matchmaking Lobby. You can also enter a Changing Booth and access the same customization inventory there.

- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

Finding an outfit
- Launch Fortnite and wait until the Matchmaking Lobby is visible.
- Choose Locker from the top menu.
- Open the outfit or character slot and browse the available cosmetics.
- Use the search, sort or filter controls if the item is not visible in the first row.
- Select the outfit and equip it, or inspect the item details to verify that it is the redeemed cosmetic.
Checking other cosmetic types
Not every redemption is an outfit. A pickaxe, wrap or other customization appears in its corresponding Locker category. A Pack may contain several entitlements, so inspect each relevant category instead of looking only under outfits.
Can you redeem on console and use the item on PC?
The decisive factor is the Epic account that owns the entitlement, not the physical device on which you typed the code. Redeem while signed in to the Epic account connected to the intended console profile. On PC, sign in to that same Epic account; if the console and PC identities are separate Epic accounts, the item will remain with the account that redeemed it.
When Epic offers to link an additional console account during gift-card redemption, verify the proposed link before accepting. Platform, regional or promotional restrictions can still apply to a particular product, so read the entitlement details shown during redemption. If the item is absent on PC, first compare the account email or display name on both devices rather than redeeming the code a second time.
Why a redeemed skin is not showing in Locker
Work through these checks in order. They separate an account problem from a display or product-type problem without risking a second redemption.

1. Confirm the owning account
Sign out and back in, then compare the Epic account identity used for redemption with the identity currently connected to Fortnite. Epic states that funds and purchases cannot be transferred, so a successful redemption on another account will not be corrected by changing devices.
2. Confirm the code category
Check whether you redeemed a product code, a Fortnite gift card or a V-Bucks card. A gift card normally produces balance, not a named skin. A V-Bucks card produces V-Bucks through its own procedure. Looking for an outfit after either type of balance redemption can make a successful transaction appear missing.
3. Restart Fortnite and inspect the correct category
Exit Fortnite completely, relaunch it and open Locker from the Lobby menu or a Changing Booth. Check outfits, pickaxes and wraps separately. A Pack may distribute its contents across multiple categories.
4. Check the redemption result and receipt
Look for the confirmation message, transaction history or email associated with the Epic account. Keep the original code and receipt private; they are evidence for support and can be abused if posted publicly.

5. Contact Epic Support with complete details
If the account, product type and Locker category are all correct but the entitlement remains absent, provide Epic Support with the account identifier, redemption confirmation, approximate redemption time, platform and proof of purchase. Do not send a code publicly or to an unverified helper.
Epic’s public Locker documentation explains where cosmetics are stored, but it does not publish a guaranteed delivery time for every redeemed item. Avoid repeatedly submitting the same code while waiting, because a second attempt will not move an entitlement between accounts.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do Fortnite codes expire?
There is no universal expiration date published for every Fortnite or Epic code in the official material covered here. Expiration, regional eligibility and promotional limits can depend on the specific product, issuer and offer. Read the terms printed with the code and the conditions displayed on Epic’s redemption page.
A code that is rejected may be invalid, already used, mistyped, restricted to another region or outside a promotion’s active period. The error message and the card’s terms are more reliable than an online list claiming that every code works indefinitely. Keep the purchase receipt so support can determine whether the code was activated and when it was redeemed.
What about “free skin code” lists?
Official Epic sources do not provide a universal, continuously updated catalog of active free skin codes. Treat lists that ask for your Epic password, payment details or a second website login as unsafe. Epic’s redemption page is the place to test a legitimately issued code, and the account warning should be checked before confirmation.
- Never publish an unused code in a post, video description or chat.
- Do not download a program that claims it can generate or “unlock” codes.
- Do not enter your Epic credentials into a page that is not an official Epic sign-in or redemption page.
- Keep screenshots of the transaction, but hide the full PIN or code when sharing evidence with anyone.
A quick decision guide
| Your goal | Correct action | Common mistake to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Claim a specifically named cosmetic or product | Use Redeem Code in the Epic Games Launcher or Epic Games Store web flow | Entering it as a gift-card PIN |
| Add spending money to an Epic account | Use the Fortnite gift-card QR/PIN flow and select Redeem now | Expecting a particular outfit to appear automatically |
| Add V-Bucks | Follow Epic’s dedicated V-Bucks-card procedure | Treating the card as an Epic balance gift card |
| Equip a redeemed cosmetic | Open Locker in the Matchmaking Lobby or a Changing Booth | Searching only one cosmetic category |
| Use the item on another device | Sign in there with the same Epic account that owns the entitlement | Redeeming again on a different account |
What to have ready before contacting support
- The Epic account display name and email, without posting them publicly.
- The exact product or card type.
- The redemption confirmation or transaction reference.
- The purchase receipt and retailer information.
- The device and platform used for redemption and the device where the item is missing.
- A description of the Locker category you checked and the restart steps already completed.
This information lets support distinguish an account-linking issue, a wrong redemption route, a used or restricted code, and a delayed display problem. It also avoids exposing the code itself to people who cannot verify ownership.
Bottom line
Match the code to its Epic redemption route, verify the account before confirming, and look for the resulting entitlement in Locker. Product codes grant identified items, gift cards add Epic balance, and V-Bucks cards follow their own procedure. If a cosmetic is missing, check account identity and card type before attempting anything again.
