Fortnite Crew is a broader subscription, not simply a more expensive way to buy 800 V-Bucks. It makes more sense when you also want its monthly Crew Pack and included pass access—and expect to use them.

These are different purchases, not equivalent prices for the same bundle. Epic lists the current Fortnite Crew benefits and monthly price and its V-Bucks pack prices separately.

Choose based on the skins and benefits you want
Buy V-Bucks for specific Item Shop skins
Direct V-Bucks purchases give you control over which eligible Item Shop cosmetics to buy. This is the straightforward option if your goal is one or more particular shop skins, and you do not care about Crew’s passes or monthly pack. Epic lists direct V-Bucks purchases as one way to get currency; see its V-Bucks acquisition guidance.

Crew includes 800 V-Bucks, but its value also depends on whether you want the monthly Crew Pack and expect to progress through the included passes while your subscription is active. There is no universal $3 saving: the US price difference between Crew and 800 V-Bucks does not establish that the extra benefits are worth that amount to every player. Assess the bundle against what you actually want and will use.

Check existing Xbox Game Pass Ultimate access
Epic currently says Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers receive current Crew benefits. Check your account, region and subscription terms before paying separately, since included offers can change.
How Battle Pass rewards affect the comparison
Epic’s current Override Battle Pass page lists an 800 V-Bucks purchase price and says players can earn up to 800 V-Bucks through progression. That can help a player who buys the pass and completes enough of it to claim the currency. It does not guarantee V-Bucks for a particular shop skin, and the progression takes play time. Check the current Battle Pass details for its terms.

What happens to Crew pass access if you cancel?
Epic’s November 20, 2024 Crew announcement says premium rewards already claimed remain yours after cancellation, but claiming premium rewards from passes included with Crew requires an active subscription. The same announcement describes a one-time return of the V-Bucks spent on an eligible pass if you subscribe within 14 days of buying it. Buying currency as a gift
Epic says direct V-Bucks are not giftable in-game. For a gift, a physical V-Bucks card may be redeemable for V-Bucks, while Fortnite gift cards add balance to an Epic account that can fund supported purchases such as V-Bucks and Crew. Epic says Fortnite gift cards are available physically and digitally in listed regions and are replacing V-Bucks cards; older V-Bucks cards may still be found in some stores or regions.

- Check that the gift card’s currency matches the recipient’s Epic account balance currency.
- Confirm the card is available and valid in the recipient’s region.
- Check the card’s platform-specific redemption steps. V-Bucks cards are redeemed for V-Bucks only.

Epic’s March 10, 2026 announcement lists US V-Bucks packs at $0.99 for 50, $8.99 for 800, $22.99 for 2,400, $36.99 for 4,500, and $89.99 for 12,500; the new prices took effect March 19, 2026. Epic says regional values may differ, so use your local checkout price rather than assuming the US figures apply. Crew is billed monthly at the listed price, so consider it one month at a time rather than treating a subscription as a one-off unlock of every future reward.
