Then check whether the same stream works on another connection or device. These steps can reduce playback demand and help narrow down the cause, but “promo loop” could mean repeated live content, a loading animation, or an advertisement; YouTube’s published guidance does not identify a cause specific to that description or to India.
First, lower playback quality
In the YouTube player, select Settings → Quality, then choose the lowest resolution you can comfortably watch. YouTube’s slow-connection help specifically suggests trying 240p or 360p. If you do not see those options, choose the lowest available setting.

YouTube may select quality automatically based on several factors, including internet speed, screen size, the original video quality, and browser support. Try the fix that matches your device
On a computer: let the stream buffer briefly
- Start the live stream and pause playback.
- Wait briefly for the gray progress bar to fill farther ahead.
- Resume playback and see whether it continues without interruptions.
YouTube lists this as a tip for slow connections on computer playback. It may not help if the broadcaster’s stream itself is interrupted.

On a phone or tablet: compare connections
- If you are using mobile data, try Wi-Fi if available.
- If you are using Wi-Fi, try mobile data as a comparison, but check your data allowance because charges may apply.
- If other apps or video services also have trouble, test another supported device if possible.
For Android, YouTube also lists clearing the YouTube app cache as a troubleshooting step. Follow your device’s app settings to clear the cache; avoid clearing app data unless you understand that it may remove local app information. YouTube’s broader streaming and video troubleshooting guide includes these options.
On a TV: check Wi-Fi and app basics
- Try watching nearer the router to see whether signal range is contributing.
- Reduce nearby wireless interference where practical and pause other devices using the network.
- Manually select a lower quality in the YouTube player, then reopen the app if playback remains unstable.
- Restart the TV or streaming device and check for system updates.
YouTube gives a separate minimum recommended connection speed of 7 Mbps for HD streaming on TV. That is a general support recommendation, not a guarantee that a particular live stream will play without buffering. A wired Ethernet connection can help test whether Wi-Fi is the weak link if your device and router support it; it does not increase the speed supplied by your broadband plan.

Use speed tests as clues, not a verdict
Run a speed test near the device where you are watching, preferably while the problem is occurring. Compare the result with YouTube’s approximate sustained-speed recommendations for the resolution you want. A result near or below the relevant recommendation is a reason to try lower quality, but one speed-test result cannot establish why this stream is looping: congestion, wireless stability, the device, and the stream itself can also affect playback.

YouTube’s published requirements page lists approximate recommendations for 360p, 480p, 720p, 1080p, and 4K UHD. The page does not display a publication year, and the figures are technical guidance rather than India-specific broadband measurements or guarantees. Know which settings you can change
As a viewer, you can change playback quality and test your connection, device, or app. You generally cannot change the broadcaster’s live-stream settings. If you control the broadcast, note that YouTube says lower latency may mean more playback buffering, because the player has less time to build a read-ahead buffer. For the TV Primetime Channels broadcast-delay control covered in YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance, Default is described as minimizing playback interruptions. These controls apply only where the relevant stream or setting is available to you.
See YouTube Help on managing live-stream settings and its streaming troubleshooting guidance. For a computer-based broadcast, YouTube recommends an Ethernet cable connection in its live-stream filming tips; that recommendation is about sending a stream, not a fix guaranteed to resolve a viewer’s playback problem.

If “promo loop” continues, record what happens
The phrase can describe different symptoms, and the available YouTube support guidance does not establish whether the issue is an ad, repeated stream content, or a loading animation. Before reporting it, note:

- The speed-test result taken near the viewing device.
- Whether other video services buffer too.
- Whether the same YouTube Live stream works on another connection or device.
Send playback feedback through the YouTube app if the issue persists. These details can help distinguish a local connection or device problem from an issue limited to one stream; they do not by themselves prove an ISP, regional outage, or YouTube fault.
