Check which automatic rule is turning on Do Not Disturb
Windows 11 can enable Do Not Disturb automatically in response to specific activities or a schedule. The timing of the change is the quickest clue to which rule to inspect.

- Open Settings > System > Notifications.

- Compare the enabled rules with what the PC was doing when Do Not Disturb came back.
- Turn off the matching rule. If the schedule is the cause, review its start and end times and repeat setting.

Microsoft’s accessibility guidance notes that scheduled hours can be set with start and end times and a repeat option: Notifications and Do Not Disturb in Windows. Settings labels can vary by installed Windows version, so use the closest matching labels if yours differ.

Check whether a Focus session enabled it
Open Settings > System > Focus and see whether a Focus session is active. Starting a Focus session turns on Do Not Disturb automatically to silence notifications, according to Microsoft Support’s Focus guidance.

- 1.1 GHz (boost up to 2.4GHz) Intel Celeron N5030 Quad-Core
There is an important distinction: if Do Not Disturb was already on before the Focus session began, Microsoft says it remains on after the session ends. Turn it off yourself if you want notifications to resume.
Find notifications that were silenced
With Do Not Disturb on, most notifications are redirected to Notification Center instead of appearing as banners. Open Notification Center to review them; their absence from the screen does not by itself mean they were lost. Alarms, reminders, and apps you have allowed can still show banners.
If Do Not Disturb still turns on
If none of the listed automatic rules matches and no Focus session is active, Microsoft’s guidance does not identify another general cause or repair for recurring activation. Avoid treating registry edits, third-party utilities, or hardware changes as Microsoft-documented fixes without reliable evidence for your specific issue.
