Legacy servers still operate, but Enhanced players cannot join Legacy servers and vice versa. General player availability, official hardware requirements, and several performance claims remain unconfirmed, so migration should be planned as a test rather than treated as a finished replacement.

What FiveM for GTA V Enhanced is right now
GTA V Enhanced support is an early-access framework from Cfx.re, not simply a graphics update to an existing FiveM installation. Cfx.re opened the server-owner early-access program on July 21, 2026. Its announcement warns that the build can contain bugs and missing features and that functionality may change before a full release.
That status affects every hosting decision. A server can be technically online while still encountering crashes, incomplete integrations, resource incompatibilities, or behavior that changes after an update. Treat Enhanced as a parallel environment for validation and gradual migration. Keep a working Legacy server if your community depends on dependable access.

Can everyone play on Enhanced servers?
Public reports disagree. Some secondary guides say the build is already available to all players, while others describe general player access as a later phase. No definitive player-availability statement is established here. Before advertising an Enhanced server, verify the current Cfx.re announcement and confirm that your intended players can install and launch the Enhanced client.
How hosting differs from Legacy
Enhanced changes the server architecture rather than adding a switch to a Legacy host. The following differences are the ones that matter when selecting binaries, planning scripts, and explaining the move to players.

txAdmin remains embedded, so the management workflow still has a familiar control panel. The binary underneath it is different, and configuration assumptions carried over from a Legacy installation should be reviewed instead of copied blindly.

- A supported Windows server environment for the Enhanced Cfx Server package and enough storage for the server files, resources, logs, and backups.
- The separate Enhanced Cfx Server download, not an old FXServer artifact.
- A network endpoint that players can reach, with firewall and port rules configured for your hosting provider.
- A current backup of your Legacy configuration, database, resource folders, and license or key material before creating a migration branch.
- Enhanced-compatible versions of every resource, map, vehicle pack, and dependency. Streamed assets must be converted for Enhanced.
- A test plan for scripts that use player IDs, networking events, voice, graphics hooks, or assumptions about OneSync modes.
No official minimum or recommended hardware specification was established in the available material. Do not size a production host around an isolated recommendation such as a particular desktop CPU. Measure your own resource load, concurrent players, database latency, and tick behavior, then re-check Cfx.re announcements as early access develops.

Installing and starting an Enhanced server
The exact installer screens and release packaging can change during early access, but the safe workflow is consistent: obtain the Enhanced package, isolate it from Legacy, launch txAdmin, and validate resources one at a time.
- Create a separate server directory. Do not overwrite a Legacy FXServer folder. Keeping independent directories lets you roll back without mixing binaries, caches, or generated configuration.
- Download the Enhanced Cfx Server package. Confirm that the executable is
cfx-server.exe. An older FXServer executable is not an Enhanced installation. - Launch the bundled txAdmin interface. Use txAdmin to create or select the server profile, set the data directory, and generate the initial configuration. Keep the profile dedicated to Enhanced.
- Apply your server identity and access settings. Add the required server key and endpoint settings supplied by the Cfx.re account and your host. Store secrets outside public resource files and back up the finished configuration securely.
- Start with OneSync big. Enhanced removes non-big mode, so do not carry over a Legacy setting that selects a smaller OneSync mode. Remove obsolete mode flags rather than guessing at replacements.
- Start the server with only core resources. Confirm that the console reaches a ready state, txAdmin reports the process as online, and a test client can connect before adding gameplay packages.
- Add resources in batches. Introduce framework dependencies, maps, vehicles, jobs, and UI packages gradually. Restart and test after each batch so a failure has a narrow cause.
- Record compatibility results. Note resource versions, warnings, crashes, connection failures, and performance observations. Early-access updates can change behavior, so keep a dated change log and a known-good server backup.
Developer mode and removed tools
The old server ImGui GUI is not part of the Enhanced workflow, and Mumble has been removed or deprecated. If you need developer mode, the documented server variable is sv_devMode true. Enable it only for controlled development; do not leave development settings on a public production server without understanding their effect.
Client requirements for your players
Every player needs a legitimate PC copy of GTA V, updated and launched at least once. GTA V Enhanced is offered as a free upgrade to existing GTA V owners on Steam, the Epic Games Store, or the Rockstar Games Launcher. Players also need an active Rockstar Games/Social Club account and several gigabytes of free disk space.

Legacy remains supported in the current FiveM client, and both versions can be installed side by side. Make your connection instructions explicit: select the Enhanced installation when joining an Enhanced server, and the Legacy installation for a Legacy server. Because there is no cross-play, an Enhanced server cannot be used as a bridge for a Legacy-only community.
Scripts, assets, and paid resources
What is expected to carry over
Secondary compatibility guidance indicates that Lua, JavaScript, and C# scripts are expected to work on Enhanced servers. “Expected” is not a guarantee for every resource. Test each package against its dependencies, database adapter, UI, event handling, and any native calls that changed with the Enhanced game build.
What must be converted
Streamed assets need conversion before they can be used on Enhanced. This includes the custom content your server loads for maps, vehicles, clothing, interiors, and other streamed files. Maintain separate Legacy and Enhanced asset outputs so a conversion does not accidentally break the live Legacy server.

Asset Escrow is reported as not yet available for Enhanced. That matters to servers using paid or protected resources: a vendor may not have an Enhanced package, and a Legacy escrowed build may not load. Ask the resource author for an Enhanced-compatible release and test it in a private environment before promising a launch date. Do not bypass protection mechanisms or assume that a license purchased for Legacy automatically covers Enhanced.

Player-ID assumptions
Legacy IDs were only incremented and were not reused. Enhanced assigns player IDs differently. Audit scripts that save an ID as a permanent character, business, ban, or ownership key. Use a stable account or character identifier provided by your framework for persistent records, and treat a session player ID as temporary unless the resource explicitly documents otherwise.

One secondary comparison lists Enhanced synchronization as configurable up to 120 Hz, Legacy at about 30 Hz (or 40 Hz with a setting), and as much as 50% less RAM per player. These figures are not official Cfx.re or Rockstar statistics, and the conditions behind them are not established. They should not be used as capacity guarantees or as a reason to buy a specific CPU.
For capacity planning, measure the variables that actually determine your server’s experience:
- Concurrent players and connection churn.
- Resource time, server tick delays, and script error rates.
- Database query latency and lock contention.
- Network throughput, packet loss, and the host’s bandwidth policy.
- Memory growth over long sessions, especially after adding streamed assets.
- Crash frequency and recovery time across several early-access updates.
Keep identical test scenarios for Legacy and Enhanced if you want a meaningful comparison. Record the build number, resource versions, player count, and test duration; otherwise a “faster” result may simply reflect a different workload.

Should you migrate now or wait?
Use Enhanced now when
- You can operate a separate test or staging server and accept breaking changes.
- Your community is prepared to install the separate Enhanced client and does not require Legacy cross-play.
- Your critical resources and streamed assets have confirmed Enhanced support.
- You can restore the Legacy server quickly if an update causes a regression.
Stay on Legacy for production when
- You need a mature, predictable environment for scheduled events or paid operations.
- Your most important resources depend on Asset Escrow, Mumble, graphic modifications, or Legacy-only integrations.
- Your players cannot yet access the Enhanced client, or your audience needs one shared version.
- You lack time to test every resource after early-access updates.
A low-risk migration plan
- Freeze and back up the current Legacy server, database, and resource manifest.
- Build an isolated Enhanced instance with the new Cfx Server package.
- Convert streamed assets and obtain vendor-confirmed Enhanced resource versions.
- Run a closed test with staff and representative players.
- Compare crashes, script errors, tick behavior, connection stability, and memory over repeated sessions.
- Publish clear client-install instructions only after player access is confirmed.
- Launch Enhanced as a parallel server or limited pilot while keeping Legacy available.
- Re-evaluate after each Cfx.re update; do not delete Legacy until your rollback period has passed.
Common failure modes and fixes
The server starts with the wrong binary
If logs or startup scripts reference FXServer instead of cfx-server.exe, stop the process and correct the service definition or txAdmin profile. Keep the Enhanced and Legacy paths visibly distinct.
A Legacy resource fails immediately
Check whether it depends on a removed feature, an obsolete OneSync mode, unconverted streamed files, or an unannounced native change. Disable the resource, reproduce the issue with core resources, then install an Enhanced release from its author.
Players can install the game but cannot join
Confirm that they installed the separate Enhanced client, launched GTA V Enhanced at least once, signed into the required Rockstar account, and have the current server build. Also verify that firewall, endpoint, and server-version requirements match the current Cfx.re guidance.
Persistent data is assigned to the wrong player
Inspect code that treats a session player ID as permanent. Migrate records to a stable identifier and test reconnects, restarts, and simultaneous joins before restoring production data.
Graphics modifications cause problems
Remove graphic mods from Enhanced clients during early access. They are not allowed in this phase and can produce launch or connection failures.
What remains unsettled
Enhanced’s early-access status means several practical answers can change. General player availability is unresolved in the available reports. No official minimum or recommended hardware specification was found. No verified official adoption statistic or performance benchmark was published, and no verbatim official quotation establishes the secondary sync-rate or memory figures. Check current Cfx.re announcements and documentation before each production change.
Bottom line for hosts
FiveM on GTA V Enhanced is viable as a separate, actively evolving server platform, not as a drop-in Legacy upgrade. Use the dedicated Cfx Server binaries and cfx-server.exe, plan for client-server networking with OneSync big, convert streamed assets, audit player-ID logic, and test every resource. Keep Legacy online until your players, scripts, assets, and recovery process have all passed an Enhanced pilot.
