Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFor a straightforward full-page screenshot, Firefox’s built-in tool is usually enough: it captures the whole page, a visible area, a selected region, or a highlighted page element, then lets you save the image or copy it. Consider FireShot when you need its documented editing and annotation tools, PDF exports, or batch and multi-tab workflows. Neither tool has been shown here to capture more accurately than the other.
How the two tools differ
Firefox includes screenshot capture in the browser. FireShot is an extension with a broader set of capture, editing, export, and workflow options described by its vendor. The practical choice depends on the output and steps you need, not on an established accuracy or speed advantage.

| Capture part of a page | Capture the visible area, select a region, or choose an automatically highlighted page element. | Capture the visible area or a selected area. |
| Save or share | Save the image to Firefox’s download location or copy it to the clipboard. | Image and PDF export, clipboard copying, email, and other listed export destinations. |
| Edit or annotate | The reviewed Mozilla workflow describes capture, saving, and copying, not a post-capture editor. | The vendor describes crop, resize, highlight, blur, erase, text, arrows, and shapes; availability can vary by edition. |
| Capture several pages | The support workflow describes individual captures. Developer Tools offer configurable capture options. | The vendor describes all-open-tabs and batch capture, as well as API integration. |

How do I take a full-page screenshot in Firefox?
- Open the page you want to capture in Firefox.
- Right-click an empty part of the page and choose Take Screenshot. Alternatively, press Ctrl + Shift + S on Windows or Linux, or Command + Shift + S on macOS.
- Choose Save full page. For a smaller image, choose Save visible, select a region, or select a highlighted page element.
- Save the image or copy it to the clipboard.
Mozilla also documents adding a Screenshot button to the toolbar. Interface labels and availability can change between Firefox versions; if the menu item or shortcut is unavailable, use the browser’s current Help documentation.

Developer Tools: a configurable Firefox capture
For a capture that needs a delay, a particular device-pixel ratio, a chosen filename, or just one CSS-selected element, Firefox’s Developer Tools offer a more configurable route than the basic Screenshots interface. Mozilla documents enabling the screenshot button in the Developer Tools toolbox and using the :screenshot Web Console helper. Its documented options include --fullpage, --delay, --dpr, --filename, and --selector.
Open the Web Console from Developer Tools, enter :screenshot with the options you need, and press Enter. For exact syntax and current option behavior, follow Mozilla’s :screenshot helper reference; it is preferable to guessing command syntax, especially when combining options.

What FireShot adds
FireShot’s product page describes full-page, visible-area, and selected-area captures, plus capture of all open tabs and a batch mode. Its listed editor tools include cropping, resizing, highlighting, blurring, erasing, and adding text annotations. The vendor also lists PDF output, including direct links and searchable text, and PNG, GIF, JPEG, and BMP image output, along with clipboard copying, email, and export to OneNote or another program. These are vendor-described features, not independent test results, and their availability may depend on edition and operating environment.
The vendor’s comparison page presents Lite as a starting point for webpage captures and Pro as adding broader editing, saving and loading, and advanced capture capabilities. It lists distinctions involving PDF functions, selectable or searchable text, combining all tabs into one PDF, editing, FTP/HTTP upload, and history depth. Because some feature-table details are not clearly rendered, verify a specific feature in the current product or app before buying. The page states a seven-day money-back period; a separate FireShot usage guide describes a ten-day Pro trial. These are different terms, not interchangeable promises, so confirm current availability and conditions on the vendor’s purchase page and comparison page.

Do you need FireShot if Firefox already has full-page screenshots?
Usually not for an occasional, straightforward capture. Firefox already covers full pages, visible areas, selected regions, and highlighted elements, with image saving and clipboard copying. FireShot becomes worth considering when a feature it documents—such as annotation, PDF-focused output, batch or all-tab capture, or an integration—fits a recurring task better than Firefox’s built-in flow.
There is no independent side-by-side test here establishing which produces more faithful captures, works on more sites, or runs faster. Choose based on required workflow, then verify the specific FireShot feature and edition on its current product pages.

Can you save a Firefox full-page screenshot as a PDF?
The reviewed Mozilla Screenshots workflow describes saving or copying an image; it does not describe a direct PDF export from that interface. FireShot advertises PDF output, but confirm which PDF functions are included in the edition you plan to use. If a PDF is essential and you do not want an extension, Firefox’s print-to-PDF workflow is a separate option, though it produces a printed-page layout rather than necessarily reproducing a screenshot image exactly.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Which tool lets you annotate or blur a screenshot?
FireShot’s product page lists annotation and editing tools including blur, highlight, text, arrows, and shapes. The reviewed Firefox capture documentation does not describe an equivalent built-in post-capture editor. Treat FireShot’s list as vendor-provided, and check edition availability before relying on a particular tool.

Is FireShot Pro worth paying for?
It may be if you regularly need Pro-only editing, PDF capabilities, or other advanced workflows and confirm those features are included in the current plan. The purchase page listed $39.95 yearly and $99.95 lifetime when accessed October 3, 2026; these are dated vendor-listed prices, not guaranteed current offers. Check FireShot’s purchase page before deciding.
Privacy considerations
Mozilla says Firefox Screenshots collects interaction data, such as whether someone uses Copy or Save full page, but does not collect the URL or details of the captured image. Mozilla also documents a setting pathway related to Do Not Track and website data collection. FireShot’s product page says captures are local and have zero cloud dependency. These statements have different scopes and come from the respective product owners; neither implementation has been independently audited here. See Mozilla’s support disclosure and FireShot’s product information.
Troubleshooting Firefox captures
- Take Screenshot is missing: Confirm the page is open in Firefox and try the documented keyboard shortcut for your operating system. Firefox labels and menus can change; consult Mozilla Help for your installed version.
- The full-page choice is not visible: Open the screenshot interface from the page context menu or shortcut, then check the available capture choices. If your task needs more control, use the Developer Tools screenshot button or documented
:screenshothelper. - You need only one region or element: Use the region-selection or highlighted-element option in the screenshot interface; for selector-based capture, consult the Developer Tools helper’s
--selectoroption. - You need a delay or a particular output filename: Use the Developer Tools helper and its documented
--delayor--filenameoptions, checking Mozilla’s reference for syntax. - You need editing, PDF export, or several tabs: Those are not described in Mozilla’s basic capture workflow. Check whether FireShot’s current edition supports the exact operation before installing or purchasing it.
Or skip the browser setup
If you need screenshots from a script or service rather than a one-off browser capture, ScreenshotNeo offers a one-request screenshot API and an MCP server for AI agents. Its capture options include PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF output, and the API accepts the parameter names used by other screenshot APIs to make switching easier.
For example, this cURL request saves a WebP screenshot of the target URL. Replace YOUR_API_KEY with your key and change the URL as needed:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for API details. Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before capture; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are not billed. The MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots.
Sign up for ScreenshotNeo’s free plan: 1,000 screenshots a month, no card required.
