FireShot Screenshot Is Blank or Partially Loaded? How to Troubleshoot It

Compare visible-area and full-page captures, check for a permission prompt, and record your exact versions before escalating a blank FireShot screenshot.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If FireShot saves a blank or incomplete full-page screenshot, first check that the page itself has finished loading, then compare a visible-area capture with a full-page capture. If only full-page capture fails, note the difference and check whether FireShot is asking for additional page permissions. These checks help narrow down the problem; the reports available do not establish one universal cause or a verified fix.

Work out where the failure happens

FireShot offers visible-area, full-page, and scrolling-selection capture, so comparing modes can show whether the problem is limited to capturing beyond the current viewport. A blank image alone does not establish whether the page, the capture mode, or a permission request is responsible.

  1. Reload the affected page. Wait until the content you expect is visible in the browser, then try one capture again. This is a basic diagnostic check, not a confirmed FireShot-specific fix.
  2. Capture the visible area. Check whether the saved image contains the content currently shown in the browser.
  3. Try full-page capture. If visible-area output is sound but full-page output is blank or incomplete, record that distinction. It helps describe the failure but is not, by itself, a fix.
  4. If the page offers a scrolling-selection mode, note whether that behaves differently. Keep the comparison limited to the same page and session where possible.
What you observe What it tells you What to do next
The page itself is missing content before capture The screenshot may reflect an incomplete page load rather than a capture-only failure. Reload, wait for the content to appear, and retry once.
Visible-area capture works; full-page capture does not The failure appears specific to the capture mode in this comparison. Record both results and include them in a support report.
Both modes fail on one site The problem is limited to that site in your current test; this does not establish its cause. Record the page URL and whether a permission prompt appeared.
Several sites fail The issue is not limited to one tested page, but the comparison does not identify a cause. Record the affected sites and your browser and extension versions.

Check for a FireShot permission prompt

Some users have reported a page-specific prompt saying, “To enable a better capture experience, FireShot requires additional permissions.” The prompt says some page elements may not be captured correctly if the request is ignored. In one October 2024 forum report, the user said visible-area capture worked, while the prompt’s Accept and Cancel buttons did not work for them. That account suggests checking for a prompt when one appears; it does not explain every blank screenshot.

Read the browser’s actual permission prompt before deciding. Google explains that access to all websites can let an extension read, request, or modify data on pages you visit, including sensitive pages such as bank accounts or Facebook: Chrome Web Store permissions and your data. Do not grant broad access automatically just to test a capture. If you are unsure, decline and consult the browser’s extension-permission controls or FireShot support.

Record the versions and steps before escalating

A January 6, 2026 user report describes FireShot 2.1.4.4 on Windows 11 Pro 24H2 and Chrome 143.0.7499.170. The user said the page scrolled automatically and the capture appeared in the FireShot window, but the saved file opened as blank white space. On January 14, another user reported similar scrolling-capture problems on several sites with the same extension version and said the non-Pro version still worked for them. These are individual reports, not an official diagnosis or proof that Pro caused the failure.

The Chrome listing shows a different FireShot version: 2.1.4.18, updated May 24, 2026. The reported 2.1.4.4 configuration is therefore an example to help identify a report, not a current-version claim for every reader. Store version and date details are available on the FireShot Chrome Web Store listing.

Before contacting support, write down:

  • Browser name and version, FireShot version, and operating system.
  • The page URL and whether the issue affects one site or several.
  • Capture mode used and whether visible-area, full-page, or scrolling-selection output differs.
  • Whether a permission prompt appeared and what happened when you responded.
  • What you saw in the browser and in FireShot before opening the saved file.

FireShot’s Mozilla Add-ons listing directs users with technical issues to its official support forum. Include the steps and version details above so the problem can be reproduced. The reviewed blank-output report does not show a staff-confirmed remedy.

What not to assume

  • Do not assume reinstalling FireShot, switching to Pro, changing a hardware setting, or disabling unrelated extensions will fix the issue; the reports cited here do not establish those remedies.
  • FireShot Pro has documented editing and PDF-related features, but no cited source says purchasing Pro resolves blank captures.
  • A single blank-output report does not establish a widespread defect or its prevalence.
