If FireShot captures the page but PDF export does not respond or no dialog appears, first check whether the capture exists, then verify FireShot’s save preferences and destination folder. If FireShot never captures the page, troubleshoot that separately. A Chrome-versus-Edge comparison can help narrow down a browser-specific symptom, but the available reports do not establish a universal fix.
Identify where the process stops
“The Export to PDF box does not appear after selecting the Capture” is how a FireShot Pro user described a Chrome problem in a September 23, 2025 support post. The user said the dialog appeared in Edge but not Chrome on Windows 10 after FireShot 2.1.2. This is one user’s report, not proof of a general Chrome defect or a confirmed diagnosis. The public post does not establish a resolution. Read the support report.
Separate the symptom into one of these stages before changing settings:
- Capture does not start: FireShot does not open a capture or editor.
- Capture opens, but export does not: You can see the captured page, but choosing PDF export appears to do nothing or no save dialog appears.
- A file is created, but you cannot find it: Export may have completed using a configured folder or a preference that suppresses the dialog.
These stages point to different checks. A missing dialog does not necessarily mean the page failed to capture or that no file was saved.

Check whether FireShot captured the page
Try another documented capture entry point
FireShot’s onboarding page lists three ways to start a capture: its toolbar button, the right-click context menu, and the Ctrl+Shift+S shortcut. Try a different entry point and note whether a capture or editor appears. If none starts a capture, record that separately from any PDF-saving issue. FireShot onboarding.
Confirm the PDF option fits your edition and capture
FireShot lists PDF as an output format, while its onboarding page identifies multipage PDF export as a Pro feature. If the task is exporting multiple pages into one PDF, check whether the installed edition includes that feature. Do not assume that a missing multipage option and an unresponsive export dialog are the same problem.

Inspect save preferences and look for an existing file
If the capture opens, check FireShot’s save preferences before reinstalling or changing browser permissions. The onboarding page shows settings for the output location and save process, including whether a “Save as” dialog is shown or hidden. Menu names and locations may differ across versions, so use the current FireShot interface rather than relying on an old menu path.
- Open FireShot’s settings or preferences from the installed extension.
- Check the configured output folder and whether the save dialog is set to appear.
- If the dialog is hidden, inspect the configured folder for a recently created PDF.
- If available in your edition, check FireShot history for the capture or saved file.
An older support exchange shows an administrator asking a user whose save buttons had stopped working to check the default output folder, but the visible exchange does not establish that this solved the problem. Treat the folder check as a useful diagnostic, not a guaranteed fix. See the older support exchange.

A 2016 manual also describes output format and destination-folder settings. Those concepts remain useful to check, but its legacy instructions should not be treated as a guide to current menu labels. FireShot manual (PDF).
Compare behavior in another browser
If another supported browser is available, repeat the same capture and export steps there. In the September 2025 report, the dialog reportedly failed to appear in Chrome but appeared in Edge. If you see a similar difference, it suggests the symptom may depend on the browser or its FireShot installation; it does not identify the cause or prove that switching browsers is a lasting fix.

The user in that report also said reinstalling FireShot did not resolve the Chrome symptom. Reinstalling therefore cannot be presented as a confirmed solution. If you have already tried it, include that fact in a support request rather than repeating the same step without new evidence.

- Browser name and version, and operating system.
- FireShot version and edition.
- Whether you used the toolbar, context menu, or keyboard shortcut.
- Whether the capture or editor opened, and which PDF action you selected.
- Whether a save dialog appeared and whether a file showed up in the configured folder or FireShot history.
- Whether the same steps behave differently in another browser.
- Any troubleshooting already attempted, including reinstalling.
For the reported Chrome case, the public support excerpt does not reveal a confirmed root cause or resolution. Avoid presenting permission changes, reinstalling, or using another browser as a proven fix for that particular symptom.
