Combine those filters to look for an old post or focus on a specific conversation—but remember that search may not show every post that matches.
What X Advanced Search does
Advanced Search is a set of filters for narrowing post results. X’s official guide describes filters for words, people, places, and dates, which can be combined to make a search more specific. It is useful when a broad search returns too much or when you are trying to find a particular post.

How to open Advanced Search
- Sign in to x.com and run a search.
- On the results page, look beneath Search filters near the upper right for Advanced Search. If it is not shown there, open More options and select Advanced Search.
- Enter the filters you need and click Search.
X’s documentation says Advanced Search is available when you are logged in to x.com. Interface labels can change, so use the current search-results controls if the wording differs.
Choose filters to find the post
Words and phrases
Use the word fields to require all listed words, look for an exact phrase, include any of several words, exclude terms, search a hashtag, or limit results by language. An exact phrase is helpful when you remember wording; excluding a common term can remove unrelated results.

Accounts
People filters let you narrow results to posts from an account, replies to an account, or posts that mention an account. These distinguish a post written by someone from a post that merely refers to them.
Places
The place filter applies to posts geotagged to a selected location. It does not mean that every post written by someone in that area will be included.

Dates
Set a start date, an end date, or both to search within a period. Date filters are especially useful for older posts when you know approximately when they appeared.

Use typed search operators when useful
The visual form is not the only way to narrow a search. X’s X Pro documentation also describes typed operators. These examples are query syntax to enter into search, not labels from the Advanced Search form:

For a one-off search, use the form when its fields cover what you need; typed operators are handy for filters or combinations that are quicker to express directly.
Why a matching post may not appear
Advanced Search narrows results; it does not guarantee that every matching post will be returned. X says it filters search results for quality and may automatically remove material that could harm search quality or create a poor experience, as described in its search guidance.

If you cannot find a post, check the likely visibility limits first. Protected posts are visible only to approved followers, and sensitive-content settings may hide some results. Account or post visibility and X’s quality filtering can also affect whether a result appears; see X’s visibility and safety guidance.
Choose Top or Latest results
X offers search categories including Top, Latest, People, Media, and Lists. Top emphasizes relevance and popularity. Latest shows matching posts in reverse chronological order, subject to X’s global visibility filter, according to its search guidance. If timing matters, Latest is the category to check; it still may not include every post that matches your filters.

When X Pro makes sense
X Pro is a separate workflow for ongoing monitoring, rather than a requirement for finding one post. Its documented column filters include keyword, media, date and time, language, repost, account, list, location, and engagement filters; persistent columns and alerts can help when you repeatedly track a topic. X’s documentation does not establish current pricing or access terms, so check its current product information before relying on availability.
