The upgrade is a Nintendo Switch 2 DLC product priced at US$14.99 and contains the Magitek & Grimoire Deluxe Pack. You must own the game, reach the required point in the story, then collect the contents from the postbox in front of the inn in the Town of Mitra. The Magitek Armor Key is activated separately from the Items section of the main menu.
When does the Final Fantasy Resonance DLC release?
The Digital Deluxe Upgrade launches on October 22, 2026, the same day as FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE on Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo lists a regular US price of $14.99 for the upgrade. It is not a standalone game: the relevant version of FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE is required before the DLC can be used.

| Switch 2 Digital Deluxe Upgrade | Nintendo Switch 2 | Magitek & Grimoire Deluxe Pack as downloadable content | Requires the Nintendo Switch 2 game; the Switch 2 version cannot be played on Nintendo Switch |
| Nintendo Switch Digital Deluxe Edition | Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, according to Nintendo’s listing | Base game bundled with the Magitek & Grimoire Deluxe Pack | Its bundled content is sold separately and is not compatible with the separate Switch 2 Digital Deluxe Upgrade |

Save data also stays separate: Nintendo states that save data cannot transfer between the Switch and Switch 2 versions. If you expect to move an existing save to a new console, choose the version on which you intend to continue playing before buying DLC.
What is in the Magitek & Grimoire Deluxe Pack?
The Digital Deluxe Upgrade supplies one equipment key, one ability-unlocking grimoire, an accessory and a set of consumables. The complete contents are:
| Item | Quantity | Function described by the product information |
|---|---|---|
| Magitek Armor Key | 1 | Changes the chocobo’s appearance to magitek armor when switched on in the Items menu |
| Archwitch’s Grimoire | 1 | Unlocks a certain character’s Fel Meteor Limit Burst |
| Mastery Ring | 1 | Included accessory; the listing does not state additional effects |
| Tent | 5 | Consumable supplied in the pack |
| Mist Potion | 5 | Consumable supplied in the pack |
| Mist Ether | 5 | Consumable supplied in the pack |
| Phoenix Down | 5 | Consumable supplied in the pack |
| Remedy | 3 | Consumable supplied in the pack |
The Magitek Armor Key is cosmetic rather than a new playable vehicle: Nintendo describes it as the item that changes the chocobo’s appearance. The Archwitch’s Grimoire is the pack-exclusive item tied to the Fel Meteor Limit Burst. No separate effect is stated for the Mastery Ring, so its exact in-game benefits should be checked in the game’s item description rather than assumed from the name.
How to access and redeem the Digital Deluxe items
The DLC does not appear as a complete reward at the title screen. Redemption is tied to story progress and uses an in-game postbox.
- Install the game and the upgrade on the same relevant system. The Switch 2 upgrade requires the Switch 2 edition of FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE. A Nintendo Switch Digital Deluxe bundle follows Nintendo’s separate Switch/Switch 2 compatibility rules.
- Advance the story until the postbox reward becomes available. The official description says the player must reach a certain point, but does not name the chapter, quest or exact milestone. If the box is empty, continue the main story rather than deleting and reinstalling the DLC.
- Travel to the Town of Mitra. Find the inn and examine the postbox positioned in front of it. The DLC items and the applicable bonus packs are delivered there once the progress requirement has been met.
- Collect the contents from the postbox. Take each listed item into your inventory. The postbox is the stated redemption location; there is no requirement to enter a code at the title screen for the digital upgrade itself.
- Turn on the Magitek Armor Key. Open the main menu, enter Items, select the key and switch it to ON. That setting enables the magitek-armor appearance for the chocobo.
The Archwitch’s Grimoire and Mastery Ring do not have a separate activation procedure specified in the product description. After collecting them, use the game’s normal character, ability or equipment interfaces when the relevant option becomes available.
Pre-order and early-purchase bonuses
Nintendo’s Switch 2 listing separates two time-limited bonus sets from the Deluxe Pack. They are claimed from the same Mitra postbox after sufficient story progress.

- These games are newly developed remaster editions based on the original titles. Some of the changes and additional elements found in other remakes of these games are not included.
- The Anniversary Edition includes a pixel character sticker sheet.
- Universally updated 2D pixel graphics, including the iconic FINAL FANTASY character designs created by Kazuko Shibuya, the original artist and current collaborator.
- Beautifully rearranged soundtrack in a faithful FINAL FANTASY style, overseen by original composer Nobuo Uematsu.
Magitek Airship & Squire Starter Pack
- Magitek Airship Passkey ×1
- Knight’s Greatsword ×1
- Chestplate of Preparation ×1, which increases battle experience by an amount stated in the listing
- Magicite Shard ×1
- Tent ×3
- Mist Potion ×3
This is a pre-order bonus. Nintendo says customers who buy after release do not receive it, so a post-launch purchase should not be treated as eligible merely because it uses the Switch 2 edition.
Squire Kickstart Pack
- Blessed Cuirass ×1
- Mist Ether ×1
Nintendo lists this as an early-purchase offer available through November 5, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on that listing. Availability is therefore governed by the stated deadline and listing terms, not by the general DLC release date. Both bonus sets use the Mitra postbox delivery method, so they may not be visible immediately after starting a new game.
What comes in the Collector’s Edition?
The Collector’s Edition is a physical package rather than merely a larger digital download. Square Enix lists a suggested retail price of US$209.99 in its 2026 announcement and says the physical Standard Edition game is supplied for the platform selected at purchase.
| Collector’s Edition component | Details |
|---|---|
| Physical game | FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE Physical Standard Edition, platform of choice |
| Digital Deluxe Upgrade code | Code for the Magitek & Grimoire Deluxe content |
| Acrylic block set | Displays characters, summons and bosses |
| Pixel art book | Hardcover book with 120 pages |
| Original Soundtrack | Four-CD set containing 120 tracks |
| FINAL FANTASY TRADING CARD GAME promotional card | Dark Fina, PR-233/8-042L |
The game code and the physical game are distinct components: the package includes a physical Standard Edition plus a Digital Deluxe Upgrade code. Square Enix also says the 120-page pixel art book and four-CD soundtrack will be sold separately at a later time. That statement does not establish their separate prices or release date.

Choose the standard edition if you only want the game
The standard edition is the straightforward option for players who do not need the Deluxe Pack or physical collectibles. It avoids paying for the upgrade’s equipment, ability item and consumables, while still providing the base game on the platform selected.

Choose the Switch 2 upgrade if you already own the Switch 2 game
The US$14.99 Digital Deluxe Upgrade is designed for an owner of the Switch 2 version who wants the Magitek & Grimoire Deluxe Pack. Verify that the base game and DLC are for Switch 2; the Switch 2 game itself cannot run on Nintendo Switch, and a Switch save cannot be transferred to the Switch 2 version.

- Play the brand-new episode featuring Yuffie and experience new combat and gameplay additions
Choose the Nintendo Switch Digital Deluxe bundle if you need the game and DLC together
Nintendo’s Switch Digital Deluxe Edition combines the base game and Deluxe Pack in one purchase and is listed as playable on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. It is a different product from the Switch 2-only upgrade, and Nintendo specifically warns that the bundle content is not compatible with that separate upgrade.
Choose the Collector’s Edition for physical memorabilia
The Collector’s Edition is aimed at buyers who want the acrylic display pieces, hardcover art book, four-CD soundtrack and promotional card in addition to the game and Deluxe code. Its US$209.99 figure is Square Enix’s suggested price from the announcement, so retailer pricing, stock and regional availability may differ.
Common problems and what to check
The postbox has no DLC items
First confirm that the correct game and DLC are installed on the same relevant system. Then continue the story until the required milestone and revisit the postbox in front of the Mitra inn. The official description does not identify the exact milestone, so an empty postbox immediately after the opening sequence is not evidence that the purchase failed.

Collect the key from the postbox, open the main menu’s Items section and set the key to ON. Merely owning the item does not enable the appearance according to Nintendo’s instructions.
A Switch purchase does not work with the Switch 2 upgrade
Check the product type. The Nintendo Switch Digital Deluxe bundle and the separate Switch 2 Digital Deluxe Upgrade are not interchangeable. Nintendo also states that the Switch 2 version cannot be played on Nintendo Switch and that saves do not move between the two versions.
A pre-order item is missing
Confirm that the purchase qualified before release for the Magitek Airship & Squire Starter Pack, or before the November 5, 2026, 11:59 p.m. PST deadline for the Squire Kickstart Pack. Once eligibility is established, advance the story and check the Mitra postbox again.

Bottom line for buyers
The DLC launches with the game on October 22, 2026, but access is intentionally delayed until story progress unlocks the Town of Mitra postbox. The Switch 2 Digital Deluxe Upgrade adds the Magitek & Grimoire Deluxe Pack for US$14.99, including the Magitek Armor Key, Archwitch’s Grimoire, Mastery Ring and specified consumables. Decide between the Switch 2 upgrade and the Nintendo Switch Digital Deluxe bundle based on your console and save-data situation; they are not interchangeable. The Collector’s Edition adds the physical game, Deluxe code and a substantial set of display and music collectibles.
