For Hindi-language video on YouTube Live, start with H.264, constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval and AAC stereo audio. For a common SDR source, YouTube recommends 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps or 6 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps. Hindi itself does not change the encoder settings: choose based on your video, codec, resolution, frame rate and reliable upload capacity. A command alone cannot guarantee a 24/7 stream; continuous operation also needs monitoring and a plan for network or process failures.
Recommended FFmpeg settings for Hindi videos
YouTube’s live encoder guidance organizes recommendations by codec, resolution and frame rate, not spoken language. The settings below are a practical starting point for typical SDR material, not a promise of a particular picture quality. Match the output to the source and use a bitrate your connection can sustain consistently.

These are YouTube recommendations for H.264 at the stated output modes, not independent measurements or universal guarantees. The right choice depends on the source, motion, encoding hardware and stable upload headroom. For other frame rates or codecs, consult YouTube’s current encoder settings and bitrate table; H.264, H.265/HEVC and AV1 are listed for live ingest, up to 60 fps.

- Use AAC stereo. YouTube’s advanced settings list 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps for stereo audio.
- Set a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube recommends two seconds and says not to exceed four seconds.
- Use CBR for the video stream and RTMPS ingest where supported.
YouTube recommends RTMPS as the encrypted option for sending a live stream. Its encoder guidance also advises testing with audio and movement similar to what you will stream.

Prepare YouTube Live and protect the stream key
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or select the stream you intend to use. Use its stream URL and stream key as the FFmpeg destination values.
- Choose RTMPS when the destination provides it. FFmpeg documents RTMPS as RTMP over secure SSL; support also depends on your FFmpeg build and the destination URL.
- Copy the stream key into a secure local secret or environment variable. YouTube says to treat it like a password; do not publish it, include it in screenshots, or paste it into a public script repository.
- Check the source file’s codec, resolution, frame rate and audio before encoding. Confirm your FFmpeg build supports the chosen encoder and output protocol.
YouTube explains stream URL and key setup in its stream settings guidance. FFmpeg command options are position-sensitive: input options go before the corresponding input, and output encoding options go before the output URL. See the FFmpeg command-line documentation.
Example FFmpeg command for a looping video
This template loops one local file and sends H.264/AAC to a YouTube RTMPS destination. Replace the file path, RTMPS ingest URL and secret key with your own values; confirm that your YouTube Live Control Room provides a compatible destination. The example targets 1080p30 and uses YouTube’s recommended H.264 bitrate for that mode.

Store the actual key outside the command text where practical, such as in a protected script or environment variable, and restrict access to it. If the source already has the desired dimensions and frame rate, avoid unnecessary scaling or frame-rate conversion; inspect it first with ffprobe. The example’s scale-and-pad filter preserves aspect ratio while placing the image in a 1920×1080 frame, which can add borders when the source has a different shape.
Adapt the profile instead of forcing one setting
- For 720p30 H.264, change the scale and pad dimensions to 1280×720 and set
-b:v,-minrateand-maxrateto 6M. Adjust the buffer proportionally if you change bitrate. - The example’s 60-frame keyframe interval corresponds to two seconds only because its output is 30 fps. At another frame rate, use an interval that yields two seconds (for example, 120 frames at 60 fps), and keep the interval at or below four seconds.
- If source frame rate, resolution or aspect ratio differs, decide whether to preserve it or convert it deliberately; do not assume upscaling creates detail.
- If using H.265/HEVC or AV1, verify encoder availability in your FFmpeg build and use the matching YouTube bitrate guidance rather than carrying over the H.264 figures.
FFmpeg’s -re reads the file at approximately real-time speed, while -stream_loop -1 repeats it indefinitely. An infinitely repeated input does not ensure an uninterrupted broadcast: the FFmpeg process, host and network can still fail.

Test upload capacity and stream health
- Run an upload-speed test on the same connection and, ideally, the same machine and network path that will stream. Treat a momentary peak as insufficient evidence of sustained capacity.
- Select a bitrate below the connection’s reliably sustained upload capacity, leaving headroom for variation and other network use. If the connection cannot sustain the target, reduce resolution or bitrate and test again.
- Start a private or unlisted test using representative movement and audio. Check YouTube’s Live Control Room stream-health status and messages, and listen for audio problems while watching for buffering or dropped frames.
- For a fixed installation, wired Ethernet is an optional way to avoid relying on Wi-Fi stability; YouTube does not state it as a requirement.
YouTube’s encoder guidance explicitly recommends testing before going live with similar audio and movement, then monitoring stream health.
Make a 24/7 stream recoverable
Continuous operation is a reliability and monitoring task, not a property guaranteed by an FFmpeg command. Keep the computer and network connection running, monitor the process and YouTube stream health, and decide how you will restart or alert on failures. If the source playlist is made from multiple files, validate that transitions, audio levels and durations behave as intended before leaving it unattended.

FFmpeg documents a FIFO muxer example for RTMP output that can continue processing in real time through temporary network failures and attempt recovery. Behavior depends on the FFmpeg build and configuration; test the exact setup before relying on it. See the FFmpeg FIFO muxer documentation. Recovery options do not replace monitoring or fix a persistent outage.
Do not assume YouTube will archive one uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast as a single complete video. YouTube’s encoder setup help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; it does not establish that a longer continuous stream will be archived as one complete recording. Copyright and channel-policy checks for Hindi content
Before scheduling a continuous stream, confirm that you have the rights needed for every song, recording, image and other element in the video. A song being devotional, traditional, or in Hindi does not by itself establish that a particular recording or arrangement is free to use. YouTube may apply copyright controls to live content, so check notices and stream status rather than assuming a file that plays locally is cleared for broadcast.
Also make sure the channel and its presentation comply with YouTube’s policies. Repeating the same pre-recorded material continuously is not a guarantee of monetization eligibility; monetization review and reused-content decisions are separate from whether FFmpeg can send the stream. Review YouTube’s current channel and copyright rules before relying on a stream for revenue.
Troubleshooting common failures
