You can start it from a notice board in Beauclair; it leads to Albertus Grotto in Toussaint and has a suggested level of 37. The key choice comes after you return a still filter to Hugo: help him fight his brothers, or reason with them and pursue a peaceful resolution.
How to start Father Knows Worst
Take the contract notice from a notice board in Beauclair, then speak to the men who posted it. They explain that their brother Hugo is missing and ask for an escort into a cave. The quest takes you to Albertus Grotto. Its suggested level is 37, so consider your gear and preparation before heading there.

The quest name is easy to miss if you search for “Father Knows Best”: the in-game title is Father Knows Worst. The quest reference notes that the title plays on the sitcom Father Knows Best. (The Official Witcher Wiki; The Witcher Wiki)

Find Hugo and recover the still filter
- Speak with the brothers. Follow the contract marker and talk to the men who posted the notice to learn about Hugo.
- Defeat the kikimores. Clear the enemies in the cave before searching for signs of Hugo.
- Use Witcher Senses. Look for Hugo’s traces and follow the trail to find him.
- Talk to Hugo. Once you locate him, speak with him to learn what he needs.
- Retrieve the still filter. The missing part is in the lake inside the cave. The water is heated by underground sources; use Quen for protection while retrieving it.
- Return the filter to Hugo. Give it to him rather than leaving the cave with it. Returning it is the step associated with the honor virtue for the Blood and Wine quest There Can Be Only One.
The quest reference mentions loot in the water but does not establish a dependable route or specific tactic for collecting it. Stick to the quest marker and your Witcher Senses for navigation rather than relying on an unverified cave route.

Choose how to handle Hugo’s brothers
After you return the filter, Hugo’s brothers and armed men block the exit. Hugo asks you to help attack them. You can fight the group or refuse unnecessary violence and try to settle the dispute through conversation. The listed branch outcomes differ:

Separately, the objective listing for returning the still filter to Hugo gives 150 XP and 100 crowns and associates the return with the honor virtue for There Can Be Only One. The quest reference lists the peaceful and combat outcomes as separate branches, so do not assume their rewards combine into a single guaranteed payout.

What if you try to leave with the filter?
If you find the filter and attempt to leave without returning it, Hugo catches up and takes it. For the straightforward completion—and to secure the virtue-associated step—hand it to him directly before dealing with the confrontation at the exit.
