FastComet is the better fit if you need cPanel, a choice of international data-center locations, assisted migration and a published 99.9% uptime target. iPage is the easier beginner-oriented choice when your priorities are a guided WordPress start, pre-installed themes and plugins, unlimited storage and bandwidth, and clearly documented WordPress support.
The deciding issue is not the lowest first-month price. iPage publishes renewal prices for its WordPress tiers, while FastComet advertises a $1.99-per-month introductory rate but does not publish the regular renewal figure in the material considered here. Treat this as a fit-based decision rather than a proven speed contest: no controlled September 2026 benchmark tested both hosts under identical conditions.

FastComet vs iPage: the short answer
Choose FastComet when control and portability matter most. Every plan includes cPanel, support is available around the clock, the company advertises more than 12 data-center locations, and its transfer process includes Express Transfer plus a free one-year domain renewal after a transfer. Its server-maintenance policy, updated 28 September 2026, says, “We target a 99.9% uptime level.” That wording is a target, not an independently measured guarantee.

Choose iPage when you want a straightforward WordPress launch. Its documented onboarding includes free SSL, a one-year domain registration, unlimited storage and bandwidth, pre-installed themes and plugins, and 24/7 WordPress support. The two documented WordPress tiers are WP Starter and WP Essential. Their introductory prices are lower than the listed renewal prices, so the long-term bill must be calculated before checkout.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Neither choice can be declared universally best. A new blog owner who values a guided setup may save time with iPage, while a site owner serving visitors in several regions or moving an existing site may get more practical value from FastComet.

What each host actually costs after the promotion
FastComet: low entry price, renewal amount to verify
FastComet advertises hosting from $1.99 per month. The promotion applies to the first term and then renews at the regular rate. Because the regular figure is not provided here, a responsible comparison cannot turn $1.99 into a first-year-versus-second-year total. Before ordering, open the plan’s billing summary and record the renewal price, the length of the first term, taxes, the domain charge after any included period, and any paid add-ons.
The headline is useful for comparing entry cost, but not for forecasting the cost of keeping a site for two or three years. If the regular rate is only shown at checkout, take a screenshot or save the order summary. That record prevents a common mistake: remembering the promotional amount and forgetting the automatic renewal condition.

iPage lists an introductory price from $3.75 per month for WP Starter. Its regular rates are explicit:
| Billing term | Renewal rate per month | Approximate renewal charge for the term |
|---|---|---|
| 36 months | $7.49 | $269.64 |
| 24 months | $8.49 | $203.76 |
| 12 months | $9.49 | $113.88 |
| Month to month | $10.49 | $10.49 per month |
The term totals above are simple multiplication of the published monthly renewal rates and exclude taxes or optional products. They show why a 36-month renewal should not be compared with a one-month price without matching the billing period.
iPage WP Essential: higher renewal tier
WP Essential starts at an introductory $6.95 per month. The listed regular rates are:

| Billing term | Renewal rate per month | Approximate renewal charge for the term |
|---|---|---|
| 36 months | $10.49 | $377.64 |
| 24 months | $11.49 | $275.76 |
| 12 months | $12.49 | $149.88 |
| Month to month | $12.49 | $12.49 per month |
The monthly rate for WP Essential is the same as its listed 12-month monthly equivalent, while WP Starter costs more per month when paid monthly than when renewed for a longer term. Select a long term only if you are comfortable committing to it; the lower monthly equivalent does not reduce the total amount charged at renewal.
Extras that change iPage’s total
iPage’s regular-rates information states that “Introductory prices are for the first term of service only and automatically renew at regular rates.” It also lists separate charges for paid SSL, backups, SiteLock and a website builder. Free SSL is included in the onboarding description, but a paid certificate may still appear as an optional upgrade. At checkout, remove anything you do not need, then price the protections you do need separately. A realistic budget should include the hosting term, domain renewal, SSL choice, backup and restore coverage, security scanning and any builder subscription.
Which host is better for WordPress beginners?
Why iPage can feel easier on day one
iPage’s documented WordPress workflow is designed around a ready-made start: themes and plugins are pre-installed, a domain is included for one year, SSL is free, and WordPress support is available 24/7. Unlimited storage and bandwidth are also listed. That combination reduces the number of decisions a first-time owner has to make before publishing a basic site.
“Unlimited” describes the advertised plan feature; it does not tell you how a particular site will perform under heavy traffic, large media uploads or resource-intensive plugins. Ask support about practical resource limits if you expect a busy store, a large video library or automated backups that consume substantial storage.
Why FastComet can suit a more hands-on owner
FastComet puts cPanel on all plans and highlights an application marketplace. cPanel gives an owner familiar controls for domains, email, databases, files, backups and one-click applications. That is useful when you already manage a site, need to create staging or test environments, or want access beyond a narrowly guided WordPress wizard.
The trade-off is choice. A new user has more settings to understand, and the application marketplace does not replace decisions about plugin quality, updates, backup retention or administrator permissions. FastComet’s 24/7 support can help, but you still need a maintenance routine.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.

Infrastructure and visitor location
FastComet advertises more than 12 data centers and lets customers choose a location. Selecting a server near the majority of your visitors can reduce network distance and simplify regional compliance decisions. Location choice is especially relevant for a multilingual site, an international store or a business whose audience is concentrated in one country.
iPage’s shared-hosting documentation explains the shared-server model, but the current information considered here does not provide an equivalent list of data-center locations. If geographic placement is important, ask iPage for the available region before purchasing rather than assuming that a nearby location can be selected.
Data-center count alone does not prove that one host is faster. Page size, caching, database queries, theme and plugin code, traffic bursts, content-delivery configuration and the visitor’s network all affect response time. No controlled test measured both hosts with the same site and workload in September 2026, so a speed winner cannot be stated as fact.

FastComet’s maintenance policy, updated 28 September 2026, says, “We target a 99.9% uptime level.” A 99.9% target corresponds to roughly 43 minutes and 50 seconds of potential unavailability in a 30-day month if the percentage were applied mechanically. That calculation is a way to understand the number, not a promise that every customer will receive exactly that availability.
The same policy notes that scheduled maintenance and causes beyond the company’s control can make services unavailable. Read the exclusions before treating the target as a service-level guarantee. The wording describes an operational goal; it does not report independently measured uptime for a specific plan, region or month.
No comparable uptime target is stated for iPage in the information used for this comparison. That absence is not proof that iPage is less reliable; it simply means the two statements cannot be compared as identical guarantees.

Moving a domain and website with the least risk
What FastComet advertises
FastComet promotes Express Transfer and a free one-year domain renewal after a transfer. Those incentives can reduce the administrative cost of moving an existing site, but they do not remove the need for a backup and DNS plan.
A no-surprise migration sequence
- Inventory the current site. Record the domain registrar, DNS host, email accounts, databases, scheduled jobs, SSL certificates, cron tasks, redirects and third-party integrations.
- Lower DNS TTL in advance. If your DNS provider allows it, reduce the time-to-live value before the move so a later record change propagates more quickly. The exact interval depends on your provider.
- Take independent backups. Export the database, download site files and preserve a copy outside the old host. Test that the database can be opened and that the archive contains uploads.
- Create the destination account. Choose the data-center location, confirm the renewal price and add only the services you need. Do not cancel the old account yet.
- Copy and verify privately. Import the files and database, update configuration values, and use a temporary preview address or hosts-file entry to check logins, forms, media, redirects, search settings and checkout flows.
- Recreate email before changing DNS. Match mailboxes, forwarding rules, authentication records and spam settings. Keep the old mail service active during propagation.
- Issue or confirm SSL. Test both the www and non-www versions, HTTP-to-HTTPS redirects and certificate coverage for every hostname.
- Switch DNS. Change the required A, AAAA or CNAME records, then monitor from more than one network. DNS caches mean visitors may reach either host for a while.
- Monitor and keep the old host online. Check uptime, error logs, forms, payment callbacks and incoming mail for at least one full billing or business cycle before cancelling the old service.
- Transfer the domain only after the site is stable. Unlock the domain, obtain its authorization code and confirm that transfer-lock or recent-registration rules do not block the move. A hosting migration and a registrar transfer are separate operations; doing them separately makes recovery easier.
A domain transfer itself does not have to cause downtime when DNS remains correctly pointed, but mistakes in nameservers, records, email routing or certificate setup can. “No downtime” is therefore a process outcome, not an automatic feature of either host.
Security, backups and add-ons
iPage’s onboarding information includes free SSL, while its regular-rates information lists paid SSL, backup and SiteLock products separately. Check whether the free certificate covers every domain and subdomain you will use, and whether renewal is automatic. If you choose a paid certificate or security package, add its recurring charge to the hosting total.
A backup product is not the same as a backup policy. Before relying on any plan, identify the backup frequency, retention period, restore method, storage location and whether databases and email are included. Keep at least one independent copy. A backup that cannot be restored is not a recovery plan.
With FastComet, the current material does not itemize equivalent SSL, backup or security prices. Ask for those figures before comparing totals with iPage. The absence of a listed price here should be treated as “not stated,” not as evidence that a feature is free.

| Your situation | Better starting fit | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| First WordPress blog and minimal server experience | iPage | Pre-installed themes and plugins, free SSL, a one-year domain and 24/7 WordPress support simplify launch. |
| Existing site that needs a guided transfer | FastComet | Express Transfer and a free one-year domain renewal after transfer are advertised. |
| Need cPanel for domains, email and databases | FastComet | cPanel is included on all plans. |
| Visitors spread across regions | FastComet | More than 12 advertised data centers and location selection provide a choice iPage’s current information does not document. |
| Need a clearly published WordPress renewal budget | iPage | WP Starter and WP Essential renewal rates are listed by term. |
| Looking only for the cheapest promotional headline | Neither without checking renewal | Both promotions are first-term prices; the long-term cost depends on the regular rate and add-ons. |
| Require a proven speed winner | Neither can be named from this comparison | No identical, controlled benchmark of the two hosts is available. |
A practical decision checklist
- Write down your main visitor countries and decide whether server location matters.
- List your required controls: cPanel, staging, database access, email management, cron jobs and application installation.
- Separate must-have WordPress functions from optional themes and plugins.
- Calculate the full renewal term, not just the introductory monthly amount.
- Add domain, SSL, backup, security and builder charges to the total.
- Confirm storage, bandwidth and resource limits for your expected traffic and media.
- Ask how migration works, what is included, and whether email is moved with the site.
- Read uptime language for targets, maintenance windows and exclusions.
- Keep an independent backup before changing DNS or transferring a domain.
- Set a calendar reminder well before the first renewal date.
Common mistakes to avoid
Comparing unlike billing terms
A 36-month renewal total is not directly comparable with a monthly bill. Convert both options to the same period and include every recurring add-on.

- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.

Assuming “unlimited” means unlimited performance
Unlimited storage and bandwidth are advertised iPage features, but a site can still be constrained by CPU, memory, database load, inode counts, plugin behavior or traffic spikes. Get the resource policy in writing if your project is unusually large.
Treating an uptime target as a measurement
FastComet’s 99.9% wording is a target with stated exceptions. It is not a September 2026 measurement of your eventual account.
Moving the registrar and website simultaneously
Combining both changes increases the number of failure points. Move the site first, confirm DNS and email, then transfer the domain when you have a working rollback path.

Final recommendation
FastComet wins this comparison for a technically confident owner who values cPanel, selectable locations, migration assistance and a stated availability target. Its $1.99 introductory price is attractive, but the regular renewal amount must be confirmed before you can judge whether it is worth keeping.
iPage wins for a beginner who wants a packaged WordPress start and a documented renewal schedule. WP Starter and WP Essential include useful launch features, but the published regular rates and optional security products make the post-promotion bill materially more important than the introductory figure.
If your choice is still close, make a two-year worksheet with the exact term, renewal rate, domain, SSL, backup, security and builder charges. Pick the host whose total and workflow fit your site, rather than the host with the most persuasive first-term headline.
