Epson describes the model as “A small workgroup printer perfect for the business environment, from small offices to large corporates.” That is the manufacturer’s positioning, rather than an independent assessment of reliability or suitability for every office. It is worth considering when a business needs a shared multifunction device and wants automatic two-sided printing and document handling. It is not possible to conclude from the published specifications alone that it will be cheaper or more dependable than a particular competing printer.
How fast is it, and what workload does Epson recommend?
Epson Europe’s specifications, accessed in 2026, rate the WF-C5890DWF at 25 ISO pages per minute for both monochrome and colour simplex printing, and 16 A4 pages per minute for duplex printing in either mode. Epson also lists first-page-out times from ready mode of 4.8 seconds for monochrome and 5.3 seconds for colour. Paper handling and scanning workflow
The standard paper configuration totals 330 sheets: a 250-sheet tray and an 80-sheet multipurpose tray. Epson lists capacity of up to 1,830 sheets when optional trays are fitted. The printer supports automatic duplex printing and two-sided copying through the ADF. Epson lists scan destinations that include email, FTP, network folders, a computer and USB storage. The European product page also lists a 10.9 cm colour touchscreen. These functions make it suitable for common shared-office workflows, although you should confirm that its scan destinations integrate with your organization’s specific systems.

Epson’s European listing includes Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct and USB, along with AirPrint, Mopria and Epson Connect features. Epson promotes the printer’s high-yield ink supplies and says it can print up to 10,000 monochrome or 5,000 colour pages without changing supplies. No reliable cost-per-page figure can be derived without current local prices and a consistent yield basis. Before buying, compare the correct regional ink-pack prices against your expected monochrome-to-colour mix and monthly volume. Include paper and any relevant maintenance items in a full ownership comparison, and compare the same assumptions across alternative printers.
Consumable codes are region-specific. Epson’s US specification sheet names T10S and T11-series packs, a maintenance box, feed rollers and an optional 500-sheet tray, but these US details should not be used to order supplies for a European machine without confirming compatibility.
