The permanent-library promise has a legal qualification
Keeping a title in your library does not create an unconditional guarantee that it will always be downloadable. The EULA describes rare circumstances in which software can be removed from the Store and become unavailable for further download or access. That is why “stays in your library” is best understood as continuing access under a digital license, rather than perpetual ownership of a physical copy.
How the free-game window works
Every promotion has a displayed start and end time. The entitlement is created only when the claim is completed before that window closes; opening the page or adding a game to a wishlist is not the same as claiming it.
- Open the live offer page. Confirm the title, the end time shown for the promotion, and the account currently signed in.
- Complete the on-page claim. Follow the Store’s claim and checkout controls until the transaction finishes successfully. A price of zero does not remove the need to complete the transaction.
- Verify the entitlement. Check the account library after the confirmation screen. This is useful before the offer expires, when support can still distinguish a missed window from an account or display problem.

If you missed the deadline

How to check a game’s platform and system requirements
Epic does not publish one minimum configuration that applies to all free games. Requirements vary by title, edition, operating system, and hardware. Before claiming or installing, use the game’s current product page.
- Open the title’s product page in the Store.
- Find the Platform field to see which operating systems or device types the listed product supports.
- Read the page’s minimum and recommended system-requirements sections. Compare the operating-system version and hardware details with the device you intend to use.
- If the page lists separate builds or editions, check the requirements for the exact version you claimed rather than relying on a trailer or a different platform’s specifications.

Epic lists cases in the European Union where a developer has not completed a required seller self-identification process. Why changing country is not a shortcut

- Check transaction status. A refund can remove a game from the active library. If the claim was reversed or never completed, the title may not be licensed to the account.
