Enpass may suit people who want to choose where their password-vault data is stored, rather than rely on a password manager’s own hosted vault. That control comes with a trade-off: you are responsible for choosing and understanding your sync and backup setup. Enpass advertises apps for major desktop and mobile platforms, password and passkey tools, autofill, and importing from other managers. Its security and pricing details below are vendor-published claims, not the results of hands-on testing.
What Enpass offers
Enpass describes itself as a password and passkey manager. Its personal product pages list apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS, along with password generation, autofill, multiple vaults, breach alerts, and password-health features. It can also store information such as payment cards, licenses, documents, and notes. Enpass says users can import login data from spreadsheets, browsers, and other password managers. These are advertised capabilities; this review does not assess their performance in use. See Enpass’s personal features and its home page for the current product description.

Where Enpass stores passwords—and what sync requires
Enpass says personal vault data stays on users’ devices unless they choose to sync it through a personal cloud account. Its security page names iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, and WebDAV; its personal page also lists Box and Nextcloud. Enpass says vault data is transmitted encrypted and that encryption and decryption happen locally. Those are the company’s descriptions, not an independent verification of implementation or a comparison of the named storage services’ security.

#1 Best Overall
- POWERFUL SECURITY KEY: The YubiKey 5 NFC is the most versatile physical passkey, protecting your digital life from phishing attacks. It ensures only you can access your accounts
- WORKS WITH 1000+ ACCOUNTS: Compatible with popular accounts like Google, Microsoft, and Apple. A single YubiKey 5 NFC secures 100+ of your favorite accounts, including email, password managers, and more
- FAST & CONVENIENT LOGIN: Plug in your YubiKey 5 NFC via USB and tap it, or tap it against your phone (NFC), to authenticate. No batteries, no internet connection, and no extra fees required
- MOST SECURE PASSKEY: Supports FIDO2/WebAuthn, FIDO U2F, Yubico OTP, OATH-TOTP/HOTP, Smart card (PIV), and OpenPGP. That means it’s versatile, working almost anywhere you need it
- PRIMARY & SPARE KEYS: Just like having a spare house key, we recommend buying two YubiKeys - one for daily use and one as a spare. That way you’ll never get locked out of your accounts
Security claims and the master-password risk
Enpass says it uses AES-256 encryption and PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA512 with 320,000 rounds. It also says it does not store the master password or its derivative. These are vendor-reported technical details; they should not be read as an independent technical assessment of the app.
The recovery consequence is especially important: Enpass says a forgotten master password cannot be recovered. You need a reliable way to remember and protect it, and a backup plan for your vault that fits your chosen storage setup. Do not assume that support can reset the password or restore access. Enpass’s statements about encryption and recovery are on its security page.
Rank #2
- FIDO2 & Passkey Ready: Business-ready and FIDO2 L1 certified. This key is supported by major management suites and is ideal for both individual and enterprise deployment. Works seamlessly with Gmail, Facebook, GitHub, Dropbox, Coinbase, and more.
- Dedicated Manager App: Use the Thetis Manager App for the initial hardware PIN setup. Setting the PIN on the device first ensures a smooth registration process. Once the PIN is configured, you can begin registering the key across your favorite FIDO2-compatible online services.
- Universal Connectivity (USB-C, USB-A, & NFC): Designed for PCs, Macs, iPhones, and Android. For mobile use, simply unfold the key, align it with your phone’s NFC antenna, and hold for a few seconds to authenticate.
- Enhanced MFA (FIDO2 & TOTP/HOTP): Strengthen your security with flexible options. Use the Manager App to access TOTP/HOTP features for accounts that do not yet support FIDO2.
- Check FIDO2 compatibility before purchase - Known limitations: ID Austria is not supported (requires FIDO2 Level 2). Windows Hello login only works with Windows Enterprise editions that support Entra ID. NFC is supported only through mobile authentication, Not MacOS/windows.
What the audit and certification statements establish
Enpass states that its security and compliance practices underwent an independent SOC 2 Type II audit and that it is ISO/IEC 27001 certified. The cited page presents the company’s statements, but the material available for this review did not include an audit report, its scope, or a detailed independent review. Treat the audit and certification as vendor-reported assurances, not as documents inspected here.

When Enpass’s home page was accessed in 2026, it displayed the following personal-plan prices. They are a dated snapshot, not a guarantee of the price at checkout. The individual and family figures apply to the first 12 months with yearly billing; the page did not establish the renewal price after that introductory period.

Enpass’s home page also displayed a business plan at $1.99 per user per month billed yearly; that is not a personal plan recommendation. Prices and packaging can change, so check the current Enpass page and checkout terms before deciding. The Enpass Help page describes free desktop use and free mobile syncing up to 25 items, but those limits may not match current plan packaging; confirm current eligibility and limits on the pricing page rather than relying on an older help-page description: Why Enpass?

- Compatibility: Do the listed Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS apps cover the devices you use?
- Migration: Does the import route from your current manager, browser, or spreadsheet fit how you plan to move your logins?
- Price: Does the current checkout price and renewal structure fit your budget, and does the plan match your household’s needs?
- Assurance: Are vendor-described controls and certifications sufficient for your decision, or do you require public audit materials or an independent technical assessment?
Verdict: is Enpass worth it?
Enpass is worth considering if storage choice is a priority and you are comfortable managing sync, backups, and master-password recovery yourself. Its advertised cross-platform apps, passkey support, autofill, and import options make it a plausible personal-manager candidate, but the cited material cannot establish how well those features work in practice. If you prefer a setup where the provider’s hosted vault and recovery process are central, Enpass’s user-managed storage model and stated no-recovery policy may be a poor fit. Decide based on your storage and recovery preferences, then verify the current plan terms and the specific features you need before paying.
