Versa 3 and Versa 4 support calls through the watch’s built-in microphone and speaker once on-wrist calling is set up. Other Versa models can show an incoming-call alert and let you accept or reject it, but accepting may answer the call on your nearby phone instead.
First, check which Versa you have
“Answering” a call can mean either accepting a call alert or carrying on the conversation through the watch. Those are separate functions. Google’s on-wrist calling instructions name Versa 3 and Versa 4 as models that can take calls from the wrist using their built-in speaker and microphone.

Fitbit’s call notification guidance says Versa-series watches can accept or reject incoming calls. On a model without on-wrist calling, accepting the alert answers the call on the connected phone; it does not make the watch the conversation’s audio device. Check the model name in the Google Health app or the watch’s device settings before following setup instructions.
| Model or situation | What happens when you accept a call | Audio route |
|---|---|---|
| Versa model other than Versa 3 or Versa 4 | The watch can show a call alert and accept or reject it. | The call is answered on the nearby phone, rather than through the watch. |
| Versa 3 | Can take calls from the wrist after on-wrist calling is set up. | Watch microphone and speaker. |
| Versa 4 | Can take calls from the wrist after on-wrist calling is set up. | Watch microphone and speaker. |
Set up on-wrist calls on Versa 3 or Versa 4
If you did not configure the feature while connecting your account, Google directs users to start in the Google Home app. Follow the current prompts for your phone’s operating system; screens and labels can change.

Answer and talk through the watch
When a call comes in on a supported Versa, tap the green phone icon to answer. Keep the phone nearby and leave the Google Health app running in the background; speak into the watch and listen through its speaker. Google notes that if you answer on the phone, you cannot then switch that call to the watch.
If calls still go to the phone or the watch will not connect

- Toggle Bluetooth off and on on the phone, then restart the watch.
- If connection still fails, remove the Fitbit’s Calls or Controls entry from the phone’s Bluetooth device list, then set up on-wrist calling again.
The watch’s Calls or Controls Bluetooth entry may show “Not Connected” between calls and reconnect automatically when a call arrives. Google also says on-wrist calling requires more frequent charging.

For basic call notifications, the watch vibrates and displays the caller’s name or number. On Versa-series devices, tap the green phone icon to accept or the red phone icon to reject. The call’s audio may still come from the phone, depending on your Versa model; accepting the alert alone does not establish that your watch supports on-wrist conversation.
