The reported catalyst combines Musk’s praise of Nvidia GPUs with a claim that SpaceX plans to use them exclusively going forward. Those are reported statements and plans—not confirmation of a completed chip purchase or financing deal.
What Musk reportedly said—and what SpaceX may do
In an article published October 9, 2026, at 5:48 p.m. Eastern, Marc Guberti of The Motley Fool reported that Musk praised Nvidia GPUs as the best available option for AI processing. The article also said SpaceX would use Nvidia chips exclusively going forward and was seeking $40 billion in financing to buy additional chips.

These claims should be read at their stated status: the financing was described as an effort, not a closed raise, and the reporting does not establish that the additional chips have been purchased. The material available here does not independently confirm Musk’s original post or the financing through primary disclosures. That distinction matters: a stated intention can indicate potential demand, but it is not the same as booked revenue or a completed transaction.
Why the report points to Nvidia
If SpaceX follows through, its purchases could add to demand for Nvidia’s AI processors. Musk’s reported endorsement may also draw attention to Nvidia’s position in AI computing. But a customer’s plans or praise do not, by themselves, show how much revenue Nvidia will recognize, when it will recognize it, or whether the demand is already reflected in the share price.
#1 Best Overall
- AI Performance: 767 AI TOPS
- OC mode: 2632 MHz (OC mode)/ 2602 MHz (Default mode)
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
The Motley Fool article also reported that Nvidia’s fiscal 2027 second-quarter revenue more than doubled year over year and that its net profit margin was 62%. Those figures are claims attributed to that article here; they should be checked against Nvidia’s original earnings materials before being used as current financial measures. A single quarter’s growth or margin also cannot establish that the same pace or profitability will continue.
Terafab is a separate, longer-term story
SpaceX-related AI-chip demand should not be conflated with Terafab, a separate manufacturing project involving SpaceX, Tesla and xAI. Tom’s Hardware reported on October 7, 2026, that Intel would remain involved and described a reported arrangement involving Intel’s 14A process. The report also said Musk proposed that TSMC might sublease part of Terafab while Musk’s companies build and run the facility; it reproduced Musk’s statement: “No, we will build and run the fab. Let there be ZERO doubt about that. Maybe TSMC subleases part of the Terafab if they want, but nothing more than that.”
Rank #2
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Powered by GeForce RTX 5070 Ti
- Integrated with 16GB GDDR7 256bit memory interface
- PCIe 5.0
- WINDFORCE cooling system
That account is not evidence that Terafab has replaced Nvidia as a supplier to SpaceX’s AI operations, or that the project has become completed production capacity. Tom’s Hardware said details of the arrangement remained unclear. The two stories therefore point to different stages: a reported Nvidia procurement plan and a longer-term fab project whose commercial output is not established.
What could weaken the investment case
- Execution and financing: SpaceX would need to secure the reported financing and carry out its buying plan. The article does not establish that either has happened.
- Valuation: Strong demand or earnings growth does not ensure that a stock is attractively priced. No current valuation or share-price data is established here, so investors should consult up-to-date market information rather than infer a buying signal from the endorsement.
- Growth and margin durability: Nvidia’s reported quarterly performance may change as competition, product supply, customer spending and costs evolve.
- Concentration and alternatives: A large customer can support sales but also create exposure to that customer’s spending decisions. In-house chip efforts and other semiconductor suppliers may affect future demand.
- Market risk: Broader market conditions and investor expectations can move NVDA independently of this particular report.
How to interpret the headline
Nvidia is the stock identified by the October 9 Motley Fool article. The reported Musk comments and SpaceX plans offer a potential demand catalyst, not a guarantee of revenue, a verified purchase, or future share-price gains. Readers considering NVDA should assess the company’s latest filings and earnings materials, current valuation, and the status of any SpaceX financing or procurement announcements.
