They are general account-safety recommendations from Singapore government sources; first confirm which organization and service issued any notice you received.
First, verify who issued the notice
The available information does not establish what “EFPO” refers to, which organization issued the advisory, or which account service it concerns. Do not assume it means the Philippine Bureau of Internal Revenue’s eFPS. The BIR has a separate notice titled “Secure your eFPS Account”, which recommends regularly changing eFPS credentials and changing challenge questions or passwords in account settings. That guidance applies to eFPS; it does not identify EFPO.

Simple steps to protect an online account
Use a different, strong password for every account
A unique password limits the damage if one service is breached and its login details are tried elsewhere. A reputable password manager can help create and keep track of distinct passwords. Singapore Police Force guidance recommends unique, strong passwords and reputable password managers in its 21 May 2025 advisory on safeguarding online accounts.

- FAST & CONVENIENT LOGIN: Plug in your YubiKey 5C NFC via USB and tap it, or tap it against your phone (NFC), to authenticate. No batteries, no internet connection, and no extra fees required
- MOST SECURE PASSKEY: Supports FIDO2/WebAuthn, FIDO U2F, Yubico OTP, OATH-TOTP/HOTP, Smart card (PIV), and OpenPGP. That means it’s versatile, working almost anywhere you need it
- PRIMARY & SPARE KEYS: Just like having a spare house key, we recommend buying two YubiKeys - one for daily use and one as a spare. That way you’ll never get locked out of your accounts
Turn on two-factor authentication
Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA), also called two-factor authentication (2FA), wherever the service offers it. It adds a verification step beyond the password. ScamShield, a Singapore Government service, recommends 2FA and strong passphrases in its account-protection guidance, last updated 20 May 2026. ScamShield suggests passphrases of at least 12 characters and gives five distinct words tied to a unique memory as an example; that is its recommendation, not a universal rule for every service.
Be wary of unexpected links and attachments
Phishing messages can lead to imitation sign-in pages that capture passwords. Avoid signing in through an unexpected link. Instead, open the service’s official app or type its known web address yourself. Singapore Police Force guidance also recommends spotting phishing and keeping antivirus software updated.

Review account access and privacy controls
Where the service provides these settings, check recent login activity, linked devices, active sessions, recovery details, forwarding rules, and privacy options. Remove devices you do not recognize. ScamShield also recommends checking SIM registrations. The exact settings and labels vary by provider.
What to do if you suspect someone accessed your account
- Change the affected password. Use a new password that you have not used on another account.
- Change reused passwords elsewhere. If you used the compromised password on other services, replace it on each of them with a unique one.
- Enable MFA or 2FA. Turn it on if available, then review sessions and linked devices and remove access you do not recognize.
- Contact the provider if you are locked out or see unauthorized activity. Use the provider’s official support channel. Ask about securing the account and, if relevant, stopping or reviewing unauthorized transactions.
- Scan the device if a suspicious link or attachment may have exposed it to malware. Update your antivirus software before running a scan, and report the incident to the appropriate service or authority.
These response steps are consistent with the Singapore Police Force’s 2025 account-safety advisory. Its later 12 September 2026 advisory addresses unauthorized access to cryptocurrency accounts through compromised email accounts. For that specific risk, it highlights checking inbox and forwarding rules, login activity, recovery details, sessions, and devices; contacting providers to secure or freeze accounts; changing affected and reused passwords; enabling MFA/2FA; and reporting suspected compromise. This cryptocurrency-focused notice is not evidence of EFPO guidance.

Keep the guidance in context

Until the issuer, jurisdiction, and affected service are confirmed, follow security directions only from the official provider for your account and avoid relying on forwarded or unattributed versions of an advisory.
