How to solve an easy Sudoku
Sudoku is a deduction puzzle, not an arithmetic problem. The printed digits are clues; use them to work out which digits can fit in the empty cells.

- Scan for missing digits. Look across rows, down columns, and inside each 3×3 box.
- Rule out conflicts. For an empty cell, eliminate any digit already present in its row, column, or box.
- Place a certain digit. If only one candidate remains, enter it, then scan again because the new placement may narrow other cells.
- Track possibilities. If a cell has several candidates, write small pencilmarks and revisit them as the grid changes.
- Use interface aids if available. Some apps offer hints or flag conflicts, but these are optional tools rather than Sudoku rules.
Apple Support explains that easy puzzles generally provide more given numbers than challenging ones, leaving fewer empty cells to reason through. Difficulty labels vary by publisher, however; there is no universal clue-count threshold that makes a puzzle “easy.” Apple Support’s Sudoku guide describes Notes, conflict highlighting, autocheck, and hints in Apple News Sudoku. EasySudoku.org documents automatic or editable pencilmarks and undo/redo. Those features depend on the service you use.
Where to play or print more puzzles
The Week’s Easy Sudoku page presents an online game that updates daily. The page states: “Fill the grid with numbers one to nine so that each row, column and square contains every digit exactly once.” Use the feature itself to see the current grid; the October 12–18 puzzles were not yet available on October 7.

For app-based practice, Apple Support says Apple News+ offers daily Sudoku in easy, moderate, and challenging difficulties, with solving aids. News, News+, and puzzles are not available in every country or region; check Apple’s current availability for yours.
