Dumb Ways to Build reportedly sold an estimated 150,000 copies after its 10 September 2026 launch, exceeding PlaySide Studios’ internal first-month forecast. Smallcaps reported the figures as company estimates; the underlying company announcement was not independently located, so they should not be read as audited results.

How many copies has Dumb Ways to Build sold?

Smallcaps reported that PlaySide estimated sales of 150,000 units since launch, generating US$1.0 million (about A$1.4 million) in gross sales and approximately US$0.6 million (about A$0.9 million) in net revenue. The reported net figure is after platform fees, VAT and returns. These are company estimates as reported by Smallcaps on 6 October 2026, not independently verified or audited results. Smallcaps’ report is the source for the sales and revenue figures.

Smallcaps also reported that Steam accounted for about two-thirds of unit sales, while combined net wishlists across Steam, PlayStation and Xbox exceeded 260,000. Wishlists indicate interest, not purchases, and the reported total does not mean those users converted into sales.

What does beating the forecast mean?

According to Smallcaps, the estimated sales exceeded PlaySide’s internal forecast for the game’s first month. That is a comparison with the company’s own expectation, not an independently published industry benchmark. Smallcaps attributed this comment to PlaySide CEO Benn Skender: “Having exceeded our internal forecasts for its first month, we are confident Dumb Ways to Build will continue to sell well through the financial year, and that it establishes a platform for gamers to engage with future Dumb Ways titles.” The statement expresses the company’s outlook; it is not a guarantee of future sales.
