A reported Xbox Design Lab backend leak points to Hall-effect and TMR thumbstick options for a possible Elite Series 3, but Microsoft has not confirmed the controller or its specifications. The report’s author says the underlying data had been removed and could not be independently verified.
What the reported Design Lab leak claims
Windows Central reported on October 6, 2026, that Reddit users had shared configuration data they said came from a provider used by the Xbox Design Lab storefront. The reported records allegedly described a new Elite controller with Hall-effect and TMR thumbstick module options, alongside a range of customization choices.

Jez Corden, Windows Central’s executive editor, wrote: “Although I was unable to verify the sources (as they’ve been removed), users suggest that this leak is most likely legit.” That qualification matters: these are reported backend details, not Xbox-confirmed specifications. Read the Windows Central report.
Alleged options in the data
- Hall-effect and TMR thumbstick modules, with standard, loose, and tight tension options.
- Silent, standard, and long stick variants.
- Advanced haptics described as using VCA motors, plus impulse trigger motors.
- A dedicated audio scroll wheel.
- Multiple faceplate finishes, engraving, paddle styles, and D-pad styles.
- Twenty-seven mapped topper and paddle combinations, as counted in the report’s summary of the alleged data—not as a verified Xbox statistic.
What Hall-effect and TMR options would—and would not—mean
Hall-effect and TMR refer to magnetic sensing approaches that can be used in thumbstick modules. Their appearance in the alleged records suggests possible sensor choices, but does not establish how either option would perform in a finished controller. It also does not prove that the complete controller would be immune to stick drift, wear, or other faults.

The leak does not establish which modules would be included by default, whether they would be selectable in Design Lab, or whether the reported tension and stick-length choices apply to every sensor option. Those details remain unconfirmed.
Has Xbox confirmed the Elite Series 3?
No confirmation appears in the cited sources. The Xbox Design Lab catalog inspected on October 7, 2026 lists the Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and its accessories; it does not establish Series 3 availability. Check the Xbox Design Lab catalog.
The Windows Central report says the price is unknown. It also does not confirm a release date. Any launch timing, bundle, or additional connectivity claims should therefore be treated as speculation unless Xbox announces them.
How the reported details compare with the Elite Series 2
Xbox Wire’s guide, published December 1, 2025, describes Series 2 features including adjustable thumbsticks, hair-trigger locks, paddle slots, and rubberized grips. It lists a starting price of $169.99 USD in that dated guide; that is a published historical starting price, not a guaranteed current offer. The guide also identifies a Paddle Pack and a Thumbsticks and D-pad Pack. See the Xbox Wire Design Lab guide.

If you need a controller now, the Elite Series 2 is the only Elite model established in the cited Xbox Design Lab catalog. Consider its documented features and current price from a retailer before buying. If Hall-effect or TMR sticks are essential to your decision, wait for an Xbox announcement and confirmed specifications rather than treating the backend report as a product listing.
A useful confirmed comparison, if Xbox announces a Series 3, will need to cover sensor type and tension adjustment, paddles and D-pad options, haptics and trigger hardware, included accessories, repairability and warranty, price, release timing, and independently tested durability. Most of those details are not established for Series 3 by the reported leak.
