DSW VIP points and sweepstakes entries are not interchangeable: points earned under DSW’s U.S. loyalty terms can contribute to a stated rewards balance, while an entry gives you a chance to win a prize under a promotion’s rules. DSW’s 2026 Shoebox Shuffle also includes a separate instant-win feature and an optional game that offers no prize.
What is the difference between DSW points and sweepstakes entries?
| Feature | DSW VIP points | Shoebox Shuffle sweepstakes entry |
|---|---|---|
| How you get it | Earned on eligible DSW product purchases when your member number is provided; gift-card purchases are excluded under the current U.S. terms. | Submit the promotion registration form while logged in to a DSW VIP account. No purchase is required. |
| What it can provide | Every 200 points makes a member eligible to redeem $1 from their DSW rewards balance toward eligible purchases. | A chance to be selected for a promotion prize; an entry does not guarantee a prize. |
| How value is determined | A stated rewards-balance redemption rate, subject to program terms and limits. Points and rewards are not cash. | Winner selection and odds are set by the promotion rules. Sweepstakes odds depend on eligible entries. |
| Expiration or restrictions | Unused points are forfeited 12 months after they are credited. Points and rewards are generally nontransferable. | Entry is limited to one per day during the promotion. Winners must meet validation requirements; prizes are nontransferable. |
These comparisons apply to DSW’s U.S. VIP Rewards terms and the 2026 Shoebox Shuffle rules—not DSW Canada or other promotions. See DSW’s VIP Rewards terms and the Shoebox Shuffle official rules for the controlling details.

How do DSW VIP points work?
DSW describes VIP as a free loyalty program. Members earn points on eligible product purchases when they provide their member number. Under the current U.S. terms, each 200 points makes the member eligible to redeem $1 from the rewards balance toward eligible purchases. The balance is held in the member’s account rather than automatically issued as a separate coupon; DSW says members can check it and apply available rewards at checkout through their account or app.
Points are typically credited 24 hours after a purchase. DSW says it will not make account-adjustment requests more than 90 days after purchase. Returns can reverse points, and the program terms include other exclusions, daily redemption limits, and annual point caps. Points and rewards have no cash value, are generally nontransferable, and may be changed or discontinued under DSW’s terms.

How does the 2026 Shoebox Shuffle work?
The promotion is sponsored by DSW Shoe Warehouse, Inc. and administered by Merkle Inc. It runs from September 28, 2026 at 12:00 a.m. ET through October 25, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. ET. To participate, an eligible member logs in to a DSW VIP account and completes the registration form on the promotion site.
Eligibility and daily limit
Entrants must be U.S. residents of one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia, at least 18 years old, and DSW VIP members when they enter. Employee and related-household exclusions apply. The rules permit one sweepstakes entry and one instant-win play per day during the promotion.
Sweepstakes drawing
The sweepstakes awards five grand prizes, each a $500 DSW gift card (stated approximate retail value: $500). Potential winners are selected by random drawing on or around October 26, 2026. The odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries, and a potential winner must be verified.

Instant Win Reveal
The separate Instant Win Reveal uses 150,450 seeded winning times. Its listed awards are:
| Instant-win award | Number available | Stated value per award |
|---|---|---|
| DSW VIP points | 450 awards of 1,000 points | $5 |
| DSW VIP points | 50,000 awards of 400 points | $2 |
| DSW VIP points | 100,000 awards of 200 points | $1 |
These are loyalty points subject to DSW VIP terms, not cash. Instant-win odds depend on when a play occurs, remaining prizes, and eligible plays. A notification in the game does not by itself establish that someone is a winner; the rules require validation.

Optional Shoebox Shuffle Game
The optional interactive game is separate from both prize mechanics. The rules describe it as “for entertainment purposes only and does not offer a prize.” Playing it is not the same as earning points or entering the drawing.
Does buying shoes improve your chance of winning?
No. The Shoebox Shuffle rules state: “NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.” Do not assume that buying shoes earns sweepstakes entries; an entry is obtained through the promotion process specified in its rules. Purchases may earn VIP points under the separate loyalty terms, if they qualify.

How should you interpret a prize or winning message?
- Points award: Treat it as a credit of VIP points governed by the loyalty terms, not as cash or a guaranteed sweepstakes prize.
- Sweepstakes entry: Treat it as one chance in the drawing, not as a reward balance or promise of a gift card.
- Instant-win notice: Follow the official rules’ verification process; a game message alone does not confirm final winner status.
The Shoebox Shuffle rules estimate prize fulfillment at approximately 8–10 weeks after winner confirmation. Winners are responsible for applicable taxes and fees. The total stated approximate retail value for the sweepstakes and instant-win awards is $204,750, as stated in the 2026 official rules.
