DroneMobile can let you control a compatible aftermarket remote-start or alarm system from an app, including when your vehicle is beyond ordinary key-fob range. It does not replace the starter system: an LTE module must be installed in the vehicle, and a paid data plan is required. The key questions are whether your exact vehicle and existing hardware are supported, what installation will cost, and whether the app features you want justify the subscription.
What DroneMobile does
DroneMobile pairs an in-vehicle LTE module with a smartphone app. The module communicates over cellular service, so commands are not limited to the ordinary range of a key fob. Actual operation still depends on cellular coverage, compatible hardware, and the vehicle’s supported functions.

DroneMobile describes features including remote start, lock and unlock, vehicle status, alerts, and optional GPS and security tools. Some vehicle-specific controls—such as heated seats or sliding doors—may require additional parts or installation. These are manufacturer-described capabilities, not independently measured performance findings. DroneMobile system overview and feature information.
Will it work with your vehicle?
DroneMobile is intended to connect to compatible aftermarket remote-start or alarm hardware; it is not established as a universal add-on for a vehicle’s factory remote start. A company article updated January 10, 2023 says the service cannot communicate with factory remote-start systems. Because that information is dated, confirm the current answer for your exact vehicle with an authorized installer. DroneMobile’s factory-system article.

DroneMobile’s materials name systems from Compustar, Arctic Start, NuStart, FTX, and iDataStart in various compatibility contexts. Those brand names are starting points, not a promise that every product model or vehicle configuration will work. Before buying, have an installer check:
- Your vehicle’s year, make, model, and configuration.
- The exact remote-start or alarm system already installed, if any.
- Whether the required LTE module and any additional parts support your setup.
- Which app controls—such as start, locks, alerts, or GPS functions—will actually be available.

How the X2 fits into the system
The DroneMobile X2 is an LTE and GPS module for a compatible aftermarket remote starter or alarm; it is not, by itself, a complete remote-start installation. The manufacturer lists a U.S. MSRP of $99.99, excluding any additional installation parts and labor. The product page says it uses AT&T LTE and works in most North American regions where LTE coverage is available. “Most” does not guarantee service at every location, so check coverage where the vehicle is used. Installation: dealer fitment is the safer default
DroneMobile directs buyers to authorized dealers for system selection and professional installation. That is particularly important when adding a module to an existing starter: the installer can check compatibility, determine whether extra parts are needed, and identify which controls the vehicle supports.

An older DroneMobile DIY article describes connecting an X1 LTE module to an already-installed compatible starter or alarm, as well as a separate standalone GPS-tracking installation route. It does not establish that a complete starter system is a simple do-it-yourself project or that every vehicle’s add-on installation is straightforward. Ask the installer about fitment and warranty implications before choosing a DIY route. DroneMobile’s DIY installation article.
What it costs: hardware, installation, and data service
The X2’s published $99.99 U.S. MSRP is only the module price; it excludes extra parts and labor. A complete setup may also require a compatible starter or alarm if the vehicle does not already have one, plus an LTE subscription. Ask for an itemized installed quote rather than treating the module price as the total cost.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What this review can—and cannot—conclude
DroneMobile’s practical appeal is straightforward: cellular-connected commands can reach beyond typical key-fob range, and the system can combine vehicle controls with optional tracking and security features. Those benefits are described by the manufacturer. The available material does not establish independent results for command latency, uptime, coverage in real-world use, or reliability. It therefore cannot support a claim that DroneMobile is proven faster, more reliable, or better than another system.
The strongest reason to consider it is an existing compatible aftermarket starter or alarm whose owner wants app-based control and is comfortable paying for LTE service. The main reasons to pause are uncertain fitment until a dealer checks the exact vehicle and hardware, the additional installed cost, and the recurring or prepaid subscription expense.

How to decide before you buy
- Identify what is already installed. Record the vehicle year, make, and model, along with the model of its aftermarket starter or alarm, if present.
- Ask an authorized installer to confirm fitment. Request confirmation of the exact module, supported app controls, any extra parts, and labor.
- Choose features and a billing term. Check which plan supports the GPS, tracking, or security functions you want, then verify the current price and full term cost at checkout.
- Get the complete installed quote. Separate hardware, additional parts, installation, and data-plan charges so you can assess the real cost.
