Dragon Age: Inquisition is now listed as Playable on Steam Deck. That is a step up from its previous Unsupported rating, but it is not the same as Verified: Valve says Playable games may need manual adjustments. Steam also discloses an EA account requirement and third-party DRM, so some setup friction may remain.
What changed in Dragon Age: Inquisition’s Steam Deck status?
Steam currently rates Dragon Age: Inquisition as Playable. Steam Deck HQ reported on September 30, 2026 that the game had recently received the rating after previously remaining Unsupported. The outlet linked the change to a controller-support fix in Proton Experimental, which it had reported on August 28, 2026. Valve has not, in the cited information, officially stated why the rating changed.

The Deck assessment applies to Inquisition specifically. The game was developed by BioWare, published by Electronic Arts, and released on Steam on November 18, 2014. Steam classifies it as an action, adventure, RPG, and strategy game.
What Steam’s Playable rating means
Valve’s Steam Deck compatibility guide explains that a Playable game “may require some manual tweaking by the user to play.” The label indicates that the game can be used on the Deck with possible adjustments; it does not promise a Verified-level experience or trouble-free setup. Valve says its compatibility reviews are ongoing, so ratings can reflect newer information over time.

What to know before installing
- Controller support: Steam lists full controller support, and Steam Deck HQ reports that Proton Experimental addressed the controller issue behind the earlier compatibility concern.
- EA account and DRM: Steam’s listing requires a third-party EA account and discloses third-party DRM, including EA online activation and Origin client software language. These disclosures are potential setup considerations, not proof that every player will encounter a particular problem.
- Fixes have a limited scope: The reported Proton controller fix concerns input. It does not establish that all account, launcher, or future update issues are resolved.
If you own the Game of the Year Edition, Steam describes it as including the base game and all three official add-ons: Jaws of Hakkon, The Descent, and Trespasser.
