Does Your Snap Score Go Up When You Receive Snaps?

Received Snaps contribute to Snapscore, but Snapchat does not publish the points per Snap or when the score changes.

Yes. Snapchat says received Snaps are one of the things that contribute to your Snapscore. The company does not publish a points-per-Snap rule or say exactly when a score updates.

How receiving Snaps affects your Snapscore

Snapchat Support says Snapscore combines the number of Snaps you send and receive, the Stories you post, and “a couple other factors.” That confirms receiving Snaps counts, but it does not reveal how much each activity contributes.

In particular, Snapchat does not specify whether a received Snap affects the score when it is delivered, when you open it, or at another point. The support page gives no timing or update-delay rule.

What Snapchat does—and does not—explain

  • Confirmed: received Snaps, sent Snaps, and Stories posted are among the inputs to the score.
  • Not published: a fixed number of points per received Snap, the relative weight of each activity, the full list of other factors, or a precise update schedule.

Snapchat describes the calculation as a “super-secret, special equation.” Treat precise point formulas or timing claims not stated by Snapchat as unconfirmed.

Where to check your Snapscore

Open Snapchat and go to your Profile screen. Snapchat says your score appears under your name. Its official explanation is in Snapchat Support’s “What is a Snapscore?” article.
