Xbox’s August 26, 2026 announcement of “Your Discs. Now Also Digital.” names no Forza game and publishes no title-by-title list. It says most Xbox One and Xbox Series X disc-based games work, and that some titles aren’t available at launch. The claim that Forza is excluded is therefore unconfirmed as of October 7, 2026.
What Xbox actually said about eligibility
- The feature covers supported physical discs. Xbox does not describe it as a universal disc conversion.
- Xbox says most Xbox One and Xbox Series X disc-based games support it, and it acknowledges that not every title is available at launch.
- It starts with “thousands of titles” and will add more over time. Xbox gives no exact count, and none should be assumed.
- No Forza title is named as included or excluded in the announcement.
The Xbox Wire announcement (August 26, 2026) quotes Jason Ronald, Xbox VP of Next Generation: “Today we are introducing a feature that brings the benefits of digital to physical discs, giving players more flexibility in how they access and play supported games across the XBOX ecosystem.”

How claiming works
- Insert a supported disc into an Xbox One or Xbox Series X console.
- Launch the game.
- The digital entitlement is claimed. The disc keeps working as before.
After claiming, you may get digital benefits such as Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox Cloud Gaming, but only where those services support that particular game. Xbox said Xbox Insiders could begin testing on August 31, 2026. Xbox does not define every eligibility condition in the announcement.

Why “Forza is not supported” can’t be stated as fact
A search of Xbox’s official material, including a targeted look for Forza eligibility, found only the same announcement. It had no Forza list or statement. The exclusion claim may come from a user’s own disc test, from a title that wasn’t ready at launch, or from speculation. None of these can be verified from official sources. If your Forza disc doesn’t trigger a claim, that tells you about your disc and edition today. It doesn’t prove Microsoft has ruled out the series.

Don’t confuse this with other Xbox announcements
PC backward compatibility
Xbox’s July 22, 2026 announcement about backward compatibility on PC is a separate early-release program. Its initial set was four original Xbox games: Blinx: The Time Sweeper, Conker: Live and Reloaded, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge and Fuzion Frenzy. It says nothing about disc-to-digital eligibility.
Forza Horizon 6 availability
Playground Games announced on January 22, 2026 that Forza Horizon 6 would launch on Xbox Series X|S and PC on May 19, 2026, with PlayStation 5 later in 2026. Platform availability says nothing about whether a disc qualifies for an entitlement.

How to check your own Forza disc
- Note the exact title and edition printed on the disc and case.
- Check the disc generation: the feature is described for Xbox One and Xbox Series X disc-based games.
- Use an Xbox One or Series X console for the claim, with the disc inserted and the game launched.
- Know which benefit you want: a digital entitlement, Play Anywhere or cloud play. The last two depend on separate per-game support.
- Recheck later. Xbox says the catalog will grow, so a game that is unavailable now may be added.
Until Xbox publishes title-level guidance, treat any Forza-specific list or claim as unverified. Buying new hardware, accessories or subscriptions won’t change whether a given disc qualifies.
