The PS Plus trial
Beebom reports a 90-minute trial for PlayStation Plus users at launch. It also reports that your progress continues if you then buy the full game, so you would not have to replay the opening.
Some limits apply to what can be said here. Sony’s general PlayStation Plus page says trials are time-limited and ties its Game Trials library to the Premium tier. It does not confirm anything about Valor Mortis. The sources therefore do not establish which PS Plus tier is needed or whether the trial is available in every region. Check the game’s PlayStation Store page on or just before October 13 for the exact terms.

What the game is
Valor Mortis is a first-person Soulslike set in a supernatural reimagining of 19th-century Europe. You play William, a resurrected soldier of the Grande Armée. The publisher describes stamina-managed combat with parries and dashes, a range of weapons, supernatural abilities and exploration. A 90-minute trial should be enough to judge the combat feel, which is the main thing a Soulslike has to get right.
A note on the release date
Lyrical Games’ June 7 announcement gave September 24, 2026. The September 30 announcement and the PlayStation Store listing both say October 13, so September 24 is outdated.
