On October 6, 2026, the Solana Foundation announced Solana DvP. It is an open-source escrow program and API for delivery-versus-payment (DvP) settlement on Solana. The Foundation says it is meant to be a reusable settlement standard for financial institutions. It says the program can settle both sides of a trade together, with finality in seconds. J.P. Morgan gave input on institutional settlement requirements. Nothing in the announcement says the bank built, runs or uses the program.
What Solana DvP is
Solana DvP is released under the MIT license. The Foundation describes it as a shared piece of infrastructure. CoinDesk, which covered the launch the same day, framed it the same way. In its account, the program is an effort to replace one-off, bespoke on-chain settlement contracts with a common rail.

DvP links the delivery of an asset to its payment, so one side cannot complete while the other fails. The program is built around that rule.

According to the Foundation, the program uses isolated escrow and deadlines to put both legs of a trade into a single atomic transaction. In its words, both legs settle together, or neither does. The aim is finality in seconds. The announcement contrasts that with the multi-day process it associates with traditional markets.

- Who can use it: any two counterparties, working with a settlement agent such as a bank, custodian or exchange.
- Supported assets: SPL Token and Token-2022. That includes extensions such as permanent delegate, pausable tokens and transfer hooks. Compatibility with every asset or workflow is not established.
- Timing: “seconds” is the Foundation’s product claim. The announcement does not offer an independent benchmark.
What JPMorgan’s role was
The Foundation says J.P. Morgan provided input on institutional settlement practices and requirements. The announcement does not say the bank built, operates or endorses the program. It also does not say the bank is using it for live trades.

Both quotes are launch messaging. They are not independent validation of risk elimination or real-world performance.
Launch status and limits
The Foundation says the program has had external security audits and is ready for real funds. The announcement does not name the auditors. It also says the Foundation is seeking design partners and early participants ahead of a production release, and CoinDesk reported the same. Taken together, the program is available as open source but has not yet reached its production release.

- Not established: who audited it, any live institutional trading volume, and any broad adoption.
- Privacy: it is on the roadmap. Confidential settlement is not described as a current feature.
How to judge it against other settlement approaches
The announcement names no competing products, so any comparison has to be made on mechanism, with each alternative checked on its own. Useful questions:
- Do delivery and payment settle atomically?
- Is the infrastructure public or permissioned?
- Which tokens and compliance features are supported?
- How are custody and settlement-agent arrangements handled?
- What privacy does it offer?
- How mature is it in production, and are its audits publicly documented?
On the last point, Solana DvP’s audits are only asserted so far. They are not yet documented in the sources available.

The Bottom Line
Solana DvP is a credible attempt at a common atomic-settlement standard, backed by a bank’s input on requirements. For now its main claims come from the Foundation: audits, readiness for real funds and finality in seconds. Institutional adoption is still to be shown once design partners move toward production.
