Short answer: the OnePlus 16 is officially rated IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K for dust and water protection. A 50W wireless-charging capability is reported by PhoneArena, but it is not clearly listed on OnePlus’s official China specification page, so confirm the exact regional model before buying a charger. eSIM support is unconfirmed: OnePlus lists Nano-SIM/Nano-USIM and an eSE secure element, and an eSE is not an eSIM cellular profile.
What is confirmed about the OnePlus 16?
The most reliable information currently comes from OnePlus’s China specification page, which identifies the OnePlus 16 as a China-market phone. That page lists a 6.78-inch display, dimensions of 161.42 × 76.67 mm and thickness of approximately 8.45–8.55 mm, ColorOS 17.0, Nano-SIM/Nano-USIM support, and four ingress-protection ratings: IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K.

The same specification page lists eSE functions and includes a protective case in the box. It does not provide an eSIM field, and it does not clearly list wireless charging. PhoneArena’s article, updated October 15, 2026, reports 50W wireless charging and repeats the four IP ratings, but that is secondary reporting rather than a confirmation visible in the official specification listing.
| Feature | What the available specifications say | How certain it is |
|---|---|---|
| Wireless charging | 50W reported by PhoneArena; not clearly listed on the official OnePlus China specification page | Verify the exact regional variant before purchase |
| SIM format | Nano-SIM/Nano-USIM | Officially listed for the China model |
| eSIM | No eSIM field is shown on the official page | Unconfirmed |
| Secure element | eSE functions are listed | Officially listed, but this is not cellular eSIM support |
| Dust and water protection | IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K | Officially listed by OnePlus China |
| Software | ColorOS 17.0 | Officially listed for the China specification |
Does the OnePlus 16 have wireless charging?
PhoneArena reports that the OnePlus 16 supports 50W wireless charging. That figure is useful as an indication of what the phone may offer, but it should not be treated as a universal specification for every unit because the official OnePlus China page does not clearly show a wireless-charging entry.

Why the 50W claim needs a variant check
Wireless-charging hardware, charging speeds and bundled accessories can vary by market or model number. A feature reported for a China release may not carry over unchanged if a different regional version appears. Before ordering, check the seller’s exact model identifier and the specification sheet or manual supplied for that unit. Ask specifically whether the phone accepts wireless power and whether 50W requires a proprietary charging pad or accessory.
What to verify before buying a charger
- Confirm that the listing identifies the same OnePlus 16 regional model you intend to buy.
- Look for an explicit wireless-charging line in the model’s specification page or user manual, rather than relying only on a retailer title.
- Check the stated maximum input and any requirement for a particular charging stand, adapter or protocol.
- Confirm that the charger and plug are suitable for your country’s electrical standards.
- Keep the receipt and verify the return policy in case the delivered variant does not support wireless charging.
A “50W wireless charger for OnePlus 16” is therefore a conditional purchase. It makes sense only after the phone’s exact variant has been confirmed. A wired charger remains the safer assumption when the seller cannot document wireless support.
Is the OnePlus 16 eSIM compatible?
eSIM support is not confirmed. OnePlus’s official China specification lists Nano-SIM/Nano-USIM and an eSE, but it does not list eSIM. The absence of an eSIM entry is important because manufacturers normally identify cellular eSIM capability separately from physical SIM support.

eSE and eSIM are different technologies
An eSE, or embedded secure element, is a security component used for functions such as payment credentials, access credentials and other protected keys. It is not a downloadable mobile-carrier profile. An eSIM is a cellular subscription profile provisioned by a carrier and stored in a device’s eUICC. Seeing “eSE” in a specification does not mean that the phone can activate a carrier plan without a physical SIM.
What the listed SIM support means
For the China specification, OnePlus identifies Nano-SIM/Nano-USIM support. That means a physical SIM in the listed format is the documented way to connect to a mobile network. The page does not establish whether the phone can hold one or two active physical lines at the same time, so check the tray and model manual if dual-SIM operation matters to you.
How to check a handset before importing it
- Ask the seller for the complete model number, not just “OnePlus 16.”
- Open the phone’s network or SIM settings and look for an option such as “Add eSIM” or “Download SIM.” The exact wording can vary with software.
- Ask your carrier whether it supports that model’s IMEI and eSIM implementation.
- Request written confirmation from the seller that an eSIM profile can be installed and activated in your country.
- Do not infer eSIM support from the presence of an eSE, NFC, contactless-payment feature or a dual-SIM label.
Until OnePlus publishes a regional specification or carrier documentation that explicitly names eSIM, treat the OnePlus 16 as a physical-Nano-SIM phone for planning purposes.

How water-resistant is the OnePlus 16?
The official China specification gives the OnePlus 16 four ratings: IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K. Together, they indicate extensive testing for dust ingress and several forms of water exposure. They do not make the phone permanently waterproof, and they do not remove the need to protect it from avoidable liquid damage.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →What the four ratings communicate
- IP66: the enclosure is rated for complete dust protection and resistance to powerful water jets under the applicable test conditions.
- IP68: the enclosure has a high level of protection against dust and immersion under the manufacturer’s specified test conditions.
- IP69: the rating addresses high-pressure, high-temperature water-jet exposure in a defined test.
- IP69K: this is a demanding high-pressure, high-temperature wash-down test designation. The test conditions and scope are not identical to ordinary immersion testing.
The letters and numbers describe laboratory test categories, not a promise that every phone will survive every real-world incident. Depth, time, water temperature, pressure, chemical content and the condition of the seals all matter. One rating does not automatically tell you how long the device may remain submerged or whether it is suitable for a pool, sea, shower or hot tub.
Situations the rating does not make safe
- Salt water, chlorinated water, soaps and other chemicals can be more damaging than clean fresh water.
- High heat and steam can stress seals even when water pressure is low.
- A hard drop, bent frame, cracked glass or a poorly fitted repair can compromise the enclosure.
- Repeated exposure can age seals and adhesives.
- Liquid entering a port or speaker opening can cause temporary or permanent faults even when the enclosure passes its rating tests.
What to do after liquid exposure
- Remove the phone from the liquid and disconnect any cable or accessory.
- Dry the exterior with a soft, lint-free cloth.
- Hold the charging port facing downward and allow it to drain naturally; do not insert metal objects or cotton swabs.
- Do not use a hair dryer, heater or compressed air, since heat and pressure can push moisture farther inside.
- Wait until the port and exterior are fully dry before attempting wired charging.
- If the phone behaves abnormally, overheats, shows charging warnings or develops display, audio or camera problems, contact an authorised repair service.
A case can help protect the frame and reduce the chance that a drop damages a seal, but it does not increase the phone’s certified IP rating. The official package contents include a protective case; replace it with a model-specific case if the supplied one is lost or damaged.

Can you use a China-market OnePlus 16 outside China?
PhoneArena reports that the OnePlus 16 will not launch in Europe or North America. That makes imported units a different proposition from a phone sold through an authorised local channel. Availability, warranty coverage and network compatibility must be checked for the country where you will use it.
Network compatibility
Compare the imported model’s supported cellular bands with every band used by your carrier, including the bands used for 4G fallback and 5G coverage. A phone can connect successfully in one city yet lose coverage elsewhere if it lacks a carrier’s secondary bands. Ask the seller for the complete radio-band list and have the carrier confirm compatibility before paying.

SIM and activation
Because the official listing identifies Nano-SIM/Nano-USIM and does not confirm eSIM, plan on using a physical SIM. Verify whether your carrier can activate an imported IMEI and whether any services, such as VoLTE or Wi-Fi calling, require carrier approval for that model.

- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Software and services
The China specification lists ColorOS 17.0. Regional software can differ in language options, preinstalled services, update timing, payment support and compatibility with local apps. Ask which software build is installed, whether the bootloader or regional settings are restricted, and how security updates will be delivered to an imported device.
Warranty and returns
A local warranty may not apply to a China-market handset purchased through an overseas seller. Confirm who handles repairs, where the phone must be shipped, what liquid damage exclusions apply and who pays return postage. Keep the seller’s written statement about the model, wireless charging, SIM configuration and warranty rather than relying on a translated product title.
Which accessories make sense?
The official dimensions are 161.42 × 76.67 mm, with thickness around 8.45–8.55 mm, and the display is 6.78 inches. Those measurements make a OnePlus 16 case and a OnePlus 16 screen protector the most straightforward model-specific accessories. Verify camera cut-outs, button positions and the precise regional model before ordering, because small dimensional changes can make a case incompatible.
A wireless charger should be treated differently. Buy one only after the seller or official documentation confirms wireless charging for your unit; the 50W figure comes from PhoneArena’s October 15, 2026 report and is not clearly present on the OnePlus China specification page.
OnePlus 16 buying checklist
- Record the exact model number and selling region.
- Confirm the four IP ratings are shown for that model, while remembering they are not a permanent-waterproof guarantee.
- Obtain explicit documentation for wireless charging and its maximum speed.
- Assume Nano-SIM/Nano-USIM is the documented cellular option unless eSIM is explicitly confirmed.
- Do not treat eSE as eSIM.
- Check carrier bands, IMEI activation, VoLTE and Wi-Fi-calling support.
- Confirm ColorOS 17.0 language, update and app-service expectations.
- Review warranty, repair location and return terms for an imported China-market phone.
- Choose a case and screen protector made for the OnePlus 16’s dimensions and display.
Bottom line
The OnePlus 16’s water and dust protection is the clearest part of its specification: OnePlus lists IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K for the China model. Wireless charging is reported at 50W by PhoneArena but needs confirmation for the exact handset. eSIM remains unconfirmed because the official page lists physical Nano-SIM/Nano-USIM support and an eSE, not an eSIM profile. Buyers outside China should also verify bands, software, warranty and local availability before importing.
