Yes. The Nothing Phone (3) supports eSIM, wireless charging and an IP68 dust-and-water-resistance rating. It can also share power wirelessly with compatible accessories. The practical limitations are regional: your exact Phone (3) model and mobile carrier determine whether eSIM activation works, while IP68 is a protection classification rather than a promise that every kind of liquid exposure is safe or covered by warranty.
Nothing Phone (3) feature summary
Nothing’s own support and product information establish the following capabilities for the Phone (3). The figures are manufacturer-published specifications from 2025, not independent laboratory measurements.

| Feature | What Nothing states | What that means in practice |
|---|---|---|
| eSIM | Supported | You can use a carrier-issued eSIM profile, subject to the regional handset variant and carrier support. |
| Wireless charging | Up to 15W compatibility | Use a compatible wireless charging pad; actual power depends on the pad, alignment, temperature and the phone’s charging controls. |
| Reverse wireless charging | 5W | The phone can provide low-power wireless charging to suitable accessories such as earbuds. |
| Dust and water resistance | IP68 | The enclosure is rated for dust ingress protection and immersion resistance under the test conditions defined for the rating; Nothing does not publish a universal depth-and-duration promise in the supplied product information. |
Nothing’s support pages explicitly say that the Phone (3) supports eSIM and that it supports wireless charging. Nothing’s product page supplies the charging rates and IP68 specification. Those statements answer the hardware question, but they do not replace checking your carrier, market SKU or warranty terms.
Does the Nothing Phone (3) support eSIM?
Yes. Nothing’s support answer is unambiguous: “The Phone (3) supports eSIM.” An eSIM is a programmable SIM profile stored in the handset rather than a removable plastic card. It can let you activate a line, add a travel plan or keep a second line without swapping physical SIMs, provided the carrier offers an eSIM for your account and location.

Why the model and carrier still matter
eSIM support in the phone does not guarantee activation everywhere. Carriers decide which devices and plans they will provision, and some require an identity check, an app, a QR code or an in-store activation. Regional variants can also differ in radio bands, firmware and SIM configuration. The available official listing is an international/US-configured page, not a complete market-by-market compatibility matrix, so do not assume that an unlocked Phone (3) bought in one country will be accepted automatically by a carrier in another.
How to activate an eSIM
- Confirm eligibility before buying. Ask the carrier whether it supports eSIM on the Nothing Phone (3), whether your plan is eligible and whether an imported model is accepted. Provide the exact model or IMEI if the carrier requests it.
- Request the carrier profile. Depending on the carrier, you may receive a QR code, an activation code, an in-app prompt or instructions to visit a store. Keep the code private; it can be used to provision your line.
- Connect the phone to the internet. Use Wi-Fi or an already-working mobile connection so the Phone (3) can download the profile during setup.
- Open the SIM settings. On the Phone (3), open the system network and SIM settings and choose the option to add or download a SIM. Android wording can vary by software version and region.
- Scan or enter the carrier details. Follow the carrier’s QR-code or activation-code instructions. If the carrier uses an app, complete the verification steps in that app instead.
- Choose line preferences. Set which line handles calls, messages and mobile data if you have both an eSIM and a physical SIM. Disable data roaming on a travel line unless you intentionally need it.
- Test service. Make a call, send a message and test mobile data before removing a physical SIM or travelling. Save the carrier’s re-download or transfer instructions in case you reset the phone.
Common eSIM problems
- “This plan cannot be added”: The carrier may not support the device variant, the QR code may have expired or the plan may already be installed on another phone. Request a newly issued profile and have the carrier verify the IMEI.
- No service after installation: Restart the phone, check that the eSIM line is enabled and confirm the carrier’s access-point and roaming requirements. A successful download does not necessarily mean the account has completed network activation.
- Moving the eSIM to another phone: Many carriers treat transfer as a new activation. Do not erase the old profile until the carrier confirms that the new device is working.
- Imported handset: Confirm local frequency-band and regulatory compatibility as well as eSIM acceptance. An eSIM profile can install even when the phone has limited access to a particular network.
Can the Nothing Phone (3) charge wirelessly?
Yes. Nothing states that the Phone (3) supports wireless charging. Its product specification lists compatibility with wireless charging at up to 15W. That is a maximum published rate, not a guarantee that every pad will deliver 15W.
What determines the charging speed?
The pad and phone must negotiate a supported charging mode. A pad with a lower output will charge more slowly, and the phone may reduce power when it becomes warm, reaches a high state of charge or detects an unsuitable adapter. Thick or magnetic cases, misalignment, coins and other metal objects can interrupt charging or create heat. Place the phone centrally on a stable, compatible pad and use the pad manufacturer’s recommended power adapter.

Wireless charging is convenient for a desk or bedside table, but a cable is generally the better choice when you need the fastest, most predictable charge. Do not judge performance from the wattage printed on a pad alone: the phone, pad, wall adapter, temperature and software all affect the result.
Using reverse wireless charging
Nothing also advertises 5W reverse wireless charging. In this mode, the Phone (3) becomes a small wireless charging source for a compatible accessory, such as a charging case for earbuds. It is intended for topping up low-capacity accessories, not for rapidly charging another smartphone.
- Enable the phone’s battery-sharing or reverse-wireless-charging control in the battery or quick-settings controls.
- Remove thick cases from the phone or accessory if alignment is unreliable.
- Place the accessory’s charging area against the marked charging zone on the rear of the Phone (3).
- Watch for the charging indicator and stop if either device becomes unusually hot.
- Disable battery sharing when finished so the phone does not continue supplying power in a bag or pocket.
Reverse charging consumes the Phone (3)’s battery and may switch off automatically when the battery is low or the temperature rises. Nothing’s published 5W figure is the accessory-output specification; it should not be interpreted as a guaranteed 5W delivered to the accessory after conversion losses.

Is the Nothing Phone (3) waterproof?
Nothing lists the Phone (3) as IP68 dust and water resistant. “Waterproof” is too broad a description: IP68 is a standardized ingress-protection classification tested under defined laboratory conditions. It indicates a high level of protection against dust and resistance to immersion, but the rating itself does not establish that every depth, duration, liquid or real-world accident is safe.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWhat IP68 does and does not tell you
- Dust: The first digit, 6, is the highest common dust-ingress rating, indicating a dust-tight enclosure in the relevant test.
- Water: The second digit, 8, indicates protection against immersion beyond the level covered by lower water ratings. The exact depth and time are set by the manufacturer’s test conditions; Nothing’s supplied product information does not state one universal depth-and-duration limit for every Phone (3) unit.
- Not a permanent guarantee: Seals can age, crack after a drop or be compromised by repairs, heat and chemicals. Resistance can therefore decline over the life of the phone.
- Not every liquid: Salt water, chlorinated water, soapy water, alcohol, drinks and other liquids can corrode or leave residues even when a brief immersion test is passed.
- Not permission to charge wet: Dry the phone, cable and port completely before connecting a charger. Charging while moisture is present can damage contacts and create a safety hazard.
What to do after liquid exposure
- Remove the phone from the liquid and switch it off if it is still operating and you suspect significant ingress.
- Disconnect cables and accessories. Do not plug in a charger to test whether it still works.
- Wipe the exterior with a soft, lint-free cloth and hold the charging port facing down so trapped liquid can drain.
- Let the device dry naturally in a ventilated place. Avoid hair dryers, ovens, compressed air and inserting cotton swabs or objects into the port.
- If the liquid was salty, sugary or chemically contaminated, seek professional service promptly; residue can continue causing corrosion after the surface appears dry.
- If the screen, speakers, cameras, charging or cellular service behaves abnormally, contact Nothing or an authorized repair provider rather than repeatedly powering the phone on.
No independent laboratory test or definitive liquid-damage warranty interpretation was established for this model in the available official material. Treat the IP68 label as a risk-reduction feature, not as insurance against immersion damage, and check the warranty terms sold in your country.

The Phone (3) was unveiled in July 2025. Omdia reported a starting price of £799 in Western Europe, but launch price and configuration are market-specific and do not prove that every region receives identical SIM or network support. Before ordering, identify the seller’s country, the exact model number and the intended carrier.

Pre-purchase verification checklist
- Ask the carrier to confirm eSIM support for the exact Phone (3) model and your plan.
- Check whether the handset is unlocked and whether imported devices are permitted on the network.
- Confirm local cellular bands and 5G requirements; eSIM compatibility alone does not guarantee coverage.
- Verify that the seller’s return policy covers an incompatible regional variant.
- For wireless charging, choose a reputable compatible pad rated for the phone’s published maximum and use the recommended wall adapter.
- Read the local warranty language for liquid exposure, because an IP rating does not automatically mean liquid damage is covered.
Which Phone (3) capabilities matter most?
Choose the Phone (3) confidently if you need the flexibility of an eSIM, prefer placing a phone on a charging pad during the day, or want basic wireless power sharing for small accessories. The most important checks are outside the hardware specification: carrier provisioning, regional model compatibility and sensible handling around water.
If your priority is frequent underwater photography, beach use or guaranteed liquid-damage coverage, do not select a phone solely because it carries an IP68 label. If your priority is fast charging, compare wired charging requirements as well, because the published wireless limit is intended for convenience rather than maximum charging speed.

Can I use an eSIM and a physical SIM together?
The Phone (3) supports eSIM, but the exact dual-SIM combinations and active-line behavior can vary by regional model and software. Confirm the configuration with the carrier and seller for your market.
Will any wireless charger provide the full advertised rate?
No. The phone’s maximum is a manufacturer specification reached only with compatible equipment and suitable conditions. A lower-rated pad, poor alignment or heat can reduce the rate.
Can I take the Phone (3) swimming?
IP68 indicates tested immersion resistance, not a recommendation for intentional swimming or repeated exposure. Keep the phone away from salt, chlorine, hot water and chemicals, and follow the drying steps if it gets wet.
