Can you use a charger you already own?
Yes, if it is a compatible USB-C power adapter. Apple says, “We encourage you to use any compatible USB-C power adapter.” Connect the included cable to that adapter, or connect it to a computer’s USB-C port. The absence of an adapter in the box does not mean you must buy a new one.

For its claim that iPhone 16 Pro can charge up to 50% in around 30 minutes, Apple specifies a USB-C Charge Cable and a 20W-or-higher power adapter, or a MagSafe Charger and a 30W-or-higher adapter. Apple says these accessories are available separately. The claim is based on Apple testing in August 2024 with pre-production iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max units and software, using the specified Apple adapters and charging equipment; actual charging time can vary. These wattages describe Apple’s stated fast-charge configurations, not a minimum requirement for basic charging. Apple’s specifications also list MagSafe wireless charging up to 25W with a 30W-or-higher adapter, and Qi wireless charging up to 7.5W.

Why isn’t a power adapter included?
Apple attributes the omission of the power adapter and EarPods to its “efforts to reach carbon neutrality by 2030.” That is Apple’s stated rationale; its cited specifications page does not quantify the environmental effect of leaving the adapter out.
